Beginning of the end of spotify, look at what is happening to netflix now, they pissed off so many people with their greedy tactics and now the stock is tanking and the founder sold all his shares.

Netflix lost 800k subscribers overnight when they canceled mail dvds. My family members were among those who canceled. They now use ot again. Nobody will remember this feature in 5 yrs. Society needs to hurt these companies faster and harder than they currently do. Spotify will likely see no difference in revenue but will see less users. So profit per user will also show as up. Stocks will be happy.

In the DVD-by-mail era, Netflix peaked at around 16 million to 20 million. They have 325 million subscribers today. I get your point but writing was on the wall for physical media and they would be dead today if they didn’t pivot.

Their DVD-by-mail service was canceled in 2023.

Key word here is peaked. 2010 was when they first released a streaming only plan. Even after the “Qwikster” fiasco, by 2013 streaming only plans already accounted for 70% of all their subscribers.

You really need to read their comment again.

They’re saying people canceled after losing DVD but came back anyway and Netflix is still doing well despite of it. I’m backing up their statement by providing their subscriber numbers shows they made the right business move. I don’t see where the confusion is.

Yeah, but they made the turn to streaming way, way before canceling the mailing service.

Yeah, I just dont see enough users getting upset over this long enough to put a dent in spotifys pockets. It'll likely be a win for the company even if there is some backlash.

Which is sad.
