I remember when the community could upload subtitles for a video. Now we got auto-generated slop that can’t comprehend shit.

Auto-over-dub in English on a video from overseas… where the person is speaking English

I've seen some Japanese singers get a "helpful" auto-dub. Of their singing. Into plain-spoken English. Dumb.

YouTube has not had a helpful update of anything in years.

The auto dub and auto sub stuff so annoying. Especially because they are playing guinea pig testing games with who gets what feature and basically forcing people to use it.

I watch a few creators who might switch between two languages in a video and they would always transcribe and translate themselves or have someone on their team doing it. Lately they have been complaining because google is trying to push ai crap first. Their videos subs have started defaulting to auto generated English, instead of the English they uploaded, same with which ever other language they are speaking. So the CC settings will list English, Polish, English (auto-generated), Polish (auto-generated), auto translate. With English (auto-generated) being the default.

They don't seem to have a setting to turn off the auto-generated subs, like they do with dubs. Which is a whole different fun glitch game because sometimes they get magically turned back on.

Most of this is probably aimed at training their AI, but they seem so focused on making sure people aren't exposed to other languages and making sure they don't learn something being exposed to a different culture.
