El limite de descargas de Tableau Next dice que es un maximo de 5000. Pero tengo usuarios que no superan las 700 filas cuando deberia descargar mucho mas. Alguien sabe como extender la descarga o porque sucede esto?

Tech Support Why do the navigation buttons on multi tab dashboard auto scroll to bottom of webpage?

I am posting my problem again, but I am including a lot more detail. I have published a multi-tab dashboard. When I click on the navigation button to go to a different dashboard tab, it opens the new tab at the bottom of the page rather than having the view centered at the top. It did not behave like this before. This new behavior cropped up only recently, and I have been publishing versions of the dashboard for months. I did update it with new data recently. Additionally, now all my previously published older versions of the dashboard are behaving like this as well, despite the fact that they have not been updated or republished in months.

I have tried the following:

  1. I checked that the URL action at the bottom of the page might have been focusing the view, but even after removing it or publishing the older versions of the Tableau Desktop files that don't have the action, they still have the auto-scrolling problem. Same thing if I just hide the worksheet with the URL action. I also tried renaming the URL action to come alphabetically first, as suggested by ChatGPT.

  2. I have also checked to see if any containers in my dashboard were overflowing, but I could not find any. I can also see blank space at the bottom of my outer container, so nothing was overflowing.

  3. Three of my four dashboard tabs are the same size; the fourth is smaller. The fourth dashboard auto-scrolls to show a bunch of white space under the Tableau toolbar. When I increased the fourth dashboard size to be the same as the other three, the problem persists.  The three that are the same size are 1485 pixels in height.

  4. I have also had someone else publish the same dashboard using the same file on his computer, but that did not fix the issue.

  5. I tried opening the dashboard in an incognito window.

  6. I tried republishing older, unupdated versions of the dashboard from old Tableau Desktop files that had not been updated in months. The problem persists.

  7. I also deleted my internet cache and search history. I published in a different browser too.

  8. I also tried moving the Tableau toolbar to the top when the dashboard was published, and that did not work 100% of the time.

None of it worked. The fact that all my previously published dashboards are affected makes me wonder if it was a web browser issue. But the fact that someone else reproduced the error by publishing the dashboard from his computer makes me think its a Tableau Desktop issue.

This is the embed code for the dashboard. Is there anything in it that makes it scroll to the bottom?

<div class='tableauPlaceholder' id='viz1792536202621' style='position: relative'><noscript><a href='#'><img alt='Labor Market Review ' src='

';                    vizElement.parentNode.insertBefore(scriptElement, vizElement);                </script>

I have replaced the names for the dashboard tabs and the overall name. My default browser is Chrome.

How do I get the navigation button to open the other dashboard tab at the top of the page rather than auto-scrolling to the bottom?

Dashboard is scrolling to bottom.

I have a dashboard that is opening correctly on my web browser but when I click to go to a different tab it opens at the bottom of the new tab rather than the top. it is a long dashboard with two url actions at the bottom. I updated it recently with new data. But there isn’t a larger number of rows now than before. the worksheets that house the links are set to ’entire view’. I made sure to name the url actions so they come alphabetically first in case tableau is focused on them. The urls aren’t working currently but that is being fixed. They are working in an earlier version of dashboard But that is a separate issue outside tableau. The dashboard itself is at a fixed height.

Additionally this problem also happens when I open the older versions of the dashboard. It wasn’t happening before

How do I fix it so that clicking on a navigation button opens the page at the top instead of the bottom?

Discussion Tableau Cloud: FIXED LOD calculation error when blending data sources

--Closed--

Solution: Data Engineers created a new feed with one premium for per policy. So the LoD is out of the picture.

Thanks for your inputs. Cheers!

I have an insurance policy data feed in Tableau. Each policy can have multiple benefits, but the feed contains only the total annual premium at the policy level, repeated across every benefit row. This inflates the total premium when using SUM([Annual Premium]).

What I have tried

I created the following FIXED LOD calculation to return the annual premium at the policy level:

{ FIXED [PolicyNumber] : MIN([Annual Premium]) }

This works as expected and returns the correct premium for each policy.

The problem

I need to use this calculated LOD field in a blended worksheet. The data source containing the LOD calculation is the secondary data source.

When I add the LOD field to the worksheet, the measure turns red and Tableau displays this error:

"Cannot blend the secondary data source because one or more fields use an unsupported aggregation."

I am using Tableau Cloud.

Alternative solution I am considering

I could publish a separate data source containing premiums at the benefit level, aggregate the benefit premiums to the policy level, and create another data blend between the existing policy data feed and this new data source.

Questions for the Tableau community

  1. Is there a way to use a FIXED LOD calculation from a secondary data source in a blend without triggering this error?
  2. Would my alternative approach work, or could it introduce other blending or aggregation issues?
  3. Are there better alternatives in Tableau Cloud, such as relationships, joins, data source changes, or pre-aggregating the data, that would solve this without inflating the premium totals?

I would appreciate suggestions on the most reliable and maintainable approach. Many thanks for your support!

Have a good week ahead. Cheers.

Tech Support RLS Calculated Fields turning into Database Columns after publishing the data source in Cloud

So we have a RLS calculated field (ie. ISMEMBEROF) and use this calc field as a data source filter in our data sources. We then publish this data source in Cloud, but what happens is that instead of staying as a calculated field, the RLS field turns into a database column and gets materialized in the data source when connecting to it live. This defeats the purpose of adding the RLS field data source filter.

The current behavior is that whoever publishes the data, the calc result gets baked into the published data source. So the RLS field becomes a static "True" value instead of dynamically adjusting to each user's group in Cloud. This does not happen in other calculated fields that don't use RLS functions.

Here's a similiar issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/tableau/s/9b918VKfkU

Anyone encountering this issue today and if there's any other solution? We're using this data source for Pulse metrics, so it's essential that it works while connecting to the published data source live/extract.

Viz Extensions Banned from Accessing Custom Color Palletes?

Hello friends, I have now worked enough with 3 different viz extensions (2 produced by Tableau and 1 by Infotopics) and none of them have allowed custom color pallettes in the extension. One of them gave no color options at all (even though there is Marks card for Color) and just defaulted to Tableau 10, and one of them showed me the pallette list, but it did not include my custom palletes.

Is this a restriction of all the viz extensions, or just "we haven't gotten to that yet" by the developers of the extensions.

Tech Support Hiding Share button

We are embedding our tableau public dashboards in our web pages. We are trying to use " <param name='showShareOptions' value='false' />" to hide the "share" button . Even after adding this option , the dashboards shows the "share" in the toolbar. We don't want to hide the entire toolbar ; we would like to hide the "share" button only .

Weird New Bug in Filter Selection ?

Hello Everyone,

This morning I noticed a new behavior in filter selection and I wanted to check if this was common to other people / if someone had found a fix. I'll try to make myself clear.

When I have a long list of values in a filter - let's imagine countries - and that I select one of them and apply the filter, if I then want to select another, I used to click on "All" then click on it again to clear the filter and then look for the next country I want to filter on. This used to work fine. Now when I do this, the search automatically selects all search results with the previously selected country unticked.

So let's imagine I used to have filter values AA, AB, AC, AD and had filtered on AA, if I search "A" I will see AB, AC, AD selected and AA unselected which is very odd, forcing me to either manually select the desired value or to use the apply button when unselecting all so that the filter "resets".

Did anyone else notice something similar ? I checked on Desktop and the issue doesn't happen, only on Server/Cloud

Can't Place species on Geometry layer

Hello everyone, my topic is Endangered Species around the Sky Islands of Southeastern Arizona. I am looking up data CSV for endangered species and found this site: U.S. Fish and Wildlife:

I downloaded the "A zip file containing two shapefiles, one for lines, one for polygons, which aggregate all critical habitat shapes for all species. Updated: Aug 31, 2026"

and when the data is presented there is no geometry, I want to present a certain amount of endangered animals in my symbol map, Thank you! I am very new to Tableau.

Guide Again, looking for work.

Hi,

I am in need of money to clear some of my debts and I am open to work to get paid for my need. I can do dashboards, I have 7 years of relevant experience and I have worked on developing one of the best Fintech's most revenue generating product from scratch.

Rate expected : 40-60$.

Please reach out to me if someone has work to be done on tableau.

I do have experience in creating agents using vs code GitHub copilot too, if that adds. I created two tools on it:

a) Tableau QA automation and deployment assistant

b) dashboard performance optimization assistant.

Thanks.

Discussion How do you verify that Tableau report data matches the database?

I'm validating a Tableau dashboard against the underlying database, but I'm not sure what the best approach is.

The total row count and some summary values match, but I still worry that certain records are missing, duplicated, or incorrectly aggregated in Tableau.

For large datasets, checking every record manually isn't practical.

How do you usually compare Tableau report data with database data?

Do you use custom SQL, Tableau crosstabs, exports to Excel, automated reconciliation scripts, or another method?

I'd love to know how you handle this in real-world projects.

Feedback wanted: Graduate Tableau dashboard exploring LAPD reported crime (2020–2023)

Hi everyone! My team is working on a graduate data visualization project, and we’d appreciate some constructive feedback on our Tableau dashboard.

We’re exploring LAPD reported-crime records with occurrence dates from 2020–2023, focusing on four topics:

  • Crime composition across LAPD divisions
  • Recorded case statuses
  • Patterns by day of the week and hour
  • Delays between when crimes occurred and when they were reported

View our Tableau Public dashboard

We’d especially appreciate your thoughts on:

  1. Can you easily understand what each chart is showing?
  2. Are the percentage bars and heatmap colors easy to interpret?
  3. Are the layout, legends, and filters clear and useful?
  4. What would you change to make the dashboard easier to understand?

We interpret case statuses as recorded statuses, not clearance rates, and the dashboard represents reported incidents.

Feedback from both Tableau users and people viewing it for the first time would be helpful. Thanks for taking a look and helping us improve our draft!

Guide Tableau Data Blending – Calculating Monthly Submissions, Approvals, and Fundings Using Different Date Fields

Hi everyone,

I’m struggling to understand how Tableau handles data blending when working with multiple date fields across different data sources. I’d appreciate some guidance on both the concept and the best way to implement this.

My current setup:

I’m using two datasets connected directly to our server:
Primary data source: Contains the lead conversion date (LeadConvertedDate), which I’ll use to calculate total submissions.

Secondary data source:
Contains the approval date (ApprovalDate) and funding date (FundedDate), which I’ll use to calculate total approvals and total fundings, respectively.
My manager wants me to present all three metrics in a single view, grouped by month, with each metric calculated using its respective date field.
For example, the view should look something like this:

Month
Metric
Count
Jan 2026
Total Submissions (based on LeadConvertedDate)
500
Jan 2026
Total Approvals (based on ApprovalDate)
350
Jan 2026
Total Fundings (based on FundedDate)
280
Feb 2026
Total Submissions (based on LeadConvertedDate)
600
Feb 2026
Total Approvals (based on ApprovalDate)
400
Feb 2026
Total Fundings (based on FundedDate)
320
The numbers above are just examples.

Where I’m getting confused:

I’ve been trying to achieve this using Tableau data blending, with the date fields involved in the linking relationship.
However, I’ve noticed that Tableau sometimes allows me to use COUNT or other aggregations from the secondary data source, while in other situations it doesn’t allow me to use them or behaves differently.
I’m not fully clear on what determines whether an aggregation is available when using a secondary data source, how the linking fields affect the results, or how Tableau handles dates when the primary and secondary sources use different date fields.

My questions are:

Why does Tableau sometimes allow aggregations from a secondary data source when blending, but sometimes not? What are the rules behind this?
Is data blending the right approach for this requirement, or would relationships, joins, or another method be more appropriate?
How can I build a single monthly view where submissions are counted using LeadConvertedDate, approvals using ApprovalDate, and fundings using FundedDate?
How should I handle months where one metric has records but another metric has none, without losing those months from the view?
I’m looking for a practical solution and, ideally, an explanation of how Tableau processes these calculations so I can understand the underlying logic rather than just follow a workaround.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Discussion My Tableau dashboard shows the correct numbers until I add a filter — then the totals suddenly change. What am I missing?

I’m working on a Tableau dashboard that shows sales performance by region, product, and month.

Initially, everything looks correct. The overall sales total matches my SQL query, and the numbers look fine when I view the dashboard without filters.

But when I add a region filter and select a single region, the total sales figure changes in a way I didn’t expect. Even stranger, when I add a product category to the view, some of the numbers change again.

I checked the underlying data and couldn’t find any obvious data-quality issues. I’m wondering whether this is related to the order of operations, LOD expressions, table calculations, or how Tableau aggregates measures.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Checked the aggregation used for Sales.
  • Compared the dashboard totals with the SQL query results.
  • Tested the filter with different regions and product categories.

I don’t want to fix this by simply changing the aggregation until the numbers look right. I want to understand the actual reason behind it.

For experienced Tableau developers: How would you troubleshoot this? What would you check first, and how do you determine whether the issue comes from filter order, data granularity, or the calculation itself?

Viz help Seeking feedback on draft dashboard: Do our charts answer our research questions?

Thumbnail public.tableau.com
3 Upvotes

Hi, we are graduate students working on a draft dashboard for a data visualization course.

  • The data cover 156 countries’ Happiness Scores (0–10) and six explanatory factors from the World Happiness Report 2019.
  • Our research questions are: which countries are happiest and least happy, which factors are most strongly associated with happiness, and how freedom differs between the top and bottom 10.
  • We would appreciate specific feedback on the clarity and design of our current visualizations before finalizing the dashboard.

Link to Viz: https://public.tableau.com/views/WorldHappiness2019WhatGoesAlongwithHappiness/Dashboard-WHR2019Overview?:language=en-US&:sid=&:redirect=auth&:display_count=n&:origin=viz_share_link
Link to Trailblazer Community:
https://trailhead.salesforce.com/trailblazer-community/feed/0D5KX00000pQELr0AO

  1. Is it clear that the three scatter plots should be compared with each other (strong → moderate → weak), or does the layout need a stronger visual cue?
  2. Do the chart types make the main findings easy to understand, or would you recommend a different visualization for any of them?
  3. Are the titles, captions, labels, and color choices clear without creating unnecessary visual clutter?
  4.  Does the sequence of the six charts create a logical story, or would you change their order before combining them into a dashboard?
  5. In the last worksheet, we compare the average Freedom to Make Life Choices score for the top 10 and bottom 10 happiest countries using a two-bar chart.       Is the two-bar comparison sufficient for communicating the difference, or would showing the individual country distribution with a dot plot or box plot provide more useful context without making the visualization too complex?

Thank you for your time!

Tableau Server Publishing

Let’s say there are two workbooks with the same name and same data in prod. One is owned by Alex and another is by Carl. What I did is I downloaded the workbook from Carl made changes and published it. But it has to be for Alex only. There is a small difference which is one of the worksheet only a display changes not entire data or column. Now the actual need is to make changes to the Alex one and publish it. My question is since i published the Carl one yesterday the owner changed from Carl to my name and if I publish the Alex one today after the changes . Will two workbooks be there or only one? Because after publishing the owner will be my name. Please someone answer on this
