[suggestion] help choosing my first (Very Very Budget) second hand pc for casual gaming?

hi everyone! i have recently been having quite a bit of trouble with researching to try to find out what desktop pc would work well for my interests that isn't extremely expensive. i don't know anything at all about Building pcs, so i'm hoping to buy one that i won't really have to mess around with- i'm not super good with the inner workings of it all, and it all seems very intimidating and overwhelming to me. i am mostly wanting to play indie games, particularly interested in rpgs & metroidbrainia type games. i'm very much working class without a thousand dollars to spare and i know that buying anything new is probably very much Not Going To Happen for me; i'm wondering if anyone could help me find something used/secondhand that would work well & last me a couple years for under 300 usd? mostly just looking for the pc itself; i am sure i can find a monitor, keyboard, and mouse elsewhere for pretty cheap. thank you in advance

Upgrading Prebuilt Help [suggestion]

I bought my PC back in December 2021 and have been thinking of upgrading but I have no idea how to do it myself and with part costs it seems more expensive than just buying a new tower.

My current prebuilt specs are:

CPU: Intel i5-10400 2.9GHz

RAM: 16GB DDR4 (oloy brand)

GPU: GeForce RTX 2060 6GB

Motherboard: Gigabyte B460M DS3H AC V2-Y1

Manufacturer: Gigabyte

The games I play are: Witchfire, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Minecraft. However: I have thought about playing Destiny 2 and other bigger games but haven’t at this point mostly wanting the option for future choice.

I would like to spend around $2k or less but that’s not a super hard ceiling. I might also buy a Starforged Apothecary Diaries case and move it to that but still deciding on that.

If I need to provide more information or details please ask and I’ll do my best to provide them.

New prebuilt PC: monitor loses signal AND keyboard/mouse disconnect at the same time, getting worse. PSU? [itg]

Hi, I bought a brand new prebuilt PC (Vibox IV-590) and since day one the monitor goes "No signal" then black, while the PC and fans stay on. It's getting worse: at first it held ~40 min, now it cuts about every 2 seconds.

Key symptom: my keyboard AND mouse disconnect at the exact same time as the screen. Each time it comes back, I land on the Windows login screen and have to type my password again.

Specs:

- Ryzen 7 5700X, RTX 5060 Ti 8GB (PNY), 16GB DDR4, 1TB SSD

- Motherboard: Biostar A520MHP 2.0

- PSU: generic "ZPSU-600W" (no 80 PLUS certification visible)

- Windows 11, CRUA 24" monitor

Already tried, no fix:

- Several HDMI + DisplayPort cables, all GPU outputs, 2 monitors + 2 TVs

- Different refresh rates (60 to 180Hz)

- Re-seated the GPU and its power cable

- Nvidia driver clean install, BIOS reset to defaults

- Keyboard/mouse on normal USB ports instead of USB 3.0

- GPU power limited to 88%

- CPU temp is ~37°C, so no overheating

I think the generic PSU is faulty, since everything drops at once. Could it also be the motherboard? Any test I can do before sending it back under warranty?

Thanks!

[Suggestion] Are there other trustworthy websites that would ship a desktop PC for everyday game sessions?

I fully understand that Desktops can be pricey, so I began saving up last month. After 9 years of TESV, Hytale, Void Crew, Cyberpunk, and BG3 on laptop. Heat and hardware has become the biggest problem on both laptops I have owned. I have browsed Amazon's online store for desktops, but I am wondering if there are any official, trustworthy sites that can deliver a Gaming desktop. I have specs worked out, but still wonder if there are other sites aside from Amazon that I can check out.

I've had bad experiences with my local Best Buy, so going to them isn't preferred, since the other nearest Best Buy is roughly 20 miles from me, and I rely on Public transit.

[Suggestion] Purchase Advice - Prebuilt Light Gaming

I used to build my own PCs and overclock it to hell in my younger days. The last time I did that was 10 years ago before I had a family and I’ve since been running my core i7 3930k with GeForce GTX 1080Ti (be nice please).

I’m looking to finally upgrade. I’m looking for something prebuilt where I can basically move over my hard drives and hit the road running. Would love your suggestions on brand, build, essentials, anything else.

My criteria and use case are below:

  1. $1000-$1500 budget
  2. Light gaming, like Fortnite, Minecraft
  3. A fair amount of video transcription and encoding, like going through old footage for object detection, transcribing video files
  4. Smaller and quieter, but doesn’t necessarily have to be the most compact. But my current full size case is a bit too noisy and too big and heavy now

Thank you!

Time for a new PC, need advice [suggestion]

My family has been using a Powerspec B726 for the past 10-11 years. My wife and kids use Steam to play games like Fields of Mistria, Skyrim, Derail Valley, Wobbly Life, Wargame: Air Land Battle, and Brick Rigs, to name a few. I would like to do some beginner to intermediate video editing.

I'm thinking it might be time to buy a newer device that would be an upgrade for gaming and video editing.

The current specs are:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core processor 3.20GHz

16Gb - RAM

Radeon RX 570 Series (4GB) - Graphics card

500 GB SSD - Storage

Is there a PC around $1000 that would be an upgrade from this machine? I have a little wiggle room in the budget but don't want to go any higher than $1500 if possible. Any advice is appreciated.

[itg] Help on a used Marketplace system

[ITG] used system!

Help on a used Marketplace system

Hey guys, it's been a long time since I've properly kept up with hardware, but I know the basics. My question is regarding a used system I might buy for my wife so she can stop using her 6 year old iGPU laptop. Just getting a feel for whether this price is terrible or not. He is asking $600 obo, would offer $500 maybe:

CPU: Intel 15 11400 (6C, 12T)

RAM: 32gb DDR4

GPU: RTX 2080

Storage: 256gb NVME SSD, 1TB SATA SSD

RAM appears to be 2667mt/s. I will ask about PSU as well. This was an upgraded Dell office PC.

Sorry for the dumb question, it's just hard to navigate the used market right now. This would be deployed immediately as a 1080p machine for her with minimal upgrades in the future, if ever.

New Pc Buyer, need some aid [suggestion]

I’ve played on console all my life and want to upgrade to a pc. I see so many games come out I would love to play but can’t due to console restrictions. My buddy and I are split between building a PC and buying a prebuilt. I found a prebuilt I like from PandaPCs, it’s called the bear. It has everything I think I want, and through pc park picker the prices match up pretty much the same. Has anyone else got this pc before? Aka, is it good or am I wasting my time and I should look for something different?

Recommendation for game development [suggestion]

Hello everyone,

I want to upgrade to a PC after using laptops for a while now. I mainly want something that is able to run blender, Godot 4.0, Maya, and/or unity.

I have looked up the system requirements for these and I am still confused and probably overwhelmed on what to look for in terms of a brand, budget, and specs written in a way that is understandable to me.

I would like to keep it to about $1,000 or lower if possible. Also I am wondering at this point should I try to wait until Black Friday for a possible deal.

Thank you for anyone who reads this and takes the time to try and help me.

[suggestion] Costco PC for 4k gaming in living room

Hello!

I've been outta the scene for a while, and I'm looking into buying a new PC. I don't have much time to play as I used to, so I'm looking into getting a PC for couch gaming on controller.

Currently, I'm using my Asus ROG G14 laptop that has a R9 5900hs, RTX 3060 and 16GB RAM to play games in the living room at 4k with controller. On the couch I don't play many highly demanding games, the game I've played the most recently is Slay the Spire 2, and I think the most demanding game I've played here has been No Mans Sky at 4k.

I also have my old PC thats missing a PSU, CPU cooler and case. I have its R9 5900X, RX 7900 XT and 32 GB DDR4 RAM.

The Costco PC pre-built in question costs $1,300, and has these specs: Intel Core Ultra 7 265F (20-core, 2.4GHz) 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 5200MHz RAM 1 x 2TB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 Solid State Drive NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti , 8GB Graphics Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3

I'm wondering what y'all think I should do. Should I buy the missing parts for my PC and use that as the living room gaming PC? or should I buy this Costco pre-built? or should I buy/wait for some other pre-built? Maybe buy the new PC for the living room, and the missing pieces for the old one for the desk?

P.S. Becoming a working adult has taken away my free time, and has made me question a lot of purchasing decisions lmao

Pre Built or Custom Gaming PC? [Discussion]

Hey, looking for some advice, I am getting a gaming PC thats around 1.1k CAD and I am not sure whether to build it myself or buy a pre-built. I went into a canada computers and they told me that with the prices nowadays, a pre built is the best option and that its cheaper to buy pre-built. Any thoughts? Do you guys think he was being truthfull or just getting me to buy from there?

Prebuilt/built [suggestion]

Right now I’m using an Asus F16 laptop for gaming and streaming, it runs everything well 75% of the time. I am wanting to run a two pc setup, would i be smarter to run AAA’s on the laptop and stream with new lower spec’d PC? (Cost efficiency) or is it better overall to purchase/build a second high spec’d unit to handle AAA’s at reasonable settings and perhaps minimize the drop in stream or stutter you get from running multiple windows at once? Perhaps that fine line between spending money and saving money

Looking to buy a good rust PC [suggestion]

I recently built a pretty good PC with the help of ChatGPT or at least I thought it looked pretty good. The price came around 2400 but I’m planning to buy it on Black Friday from cyber power. I think it would be a better than most rust PC, but if you have any suggestions on one, that’s really good that you were a friend of bought or you think would be really good. That would be really helpful if it’s cheap cheaper or maybe slightly more expensive I’m OK with that. I just wanna have something that’s good and I’ll enjoy. Thank you.

Need a pc [suggestion]

Hey people, I’m looking for some help with buying a PC as I’m not really sure what to look for. I mainly play games like Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, Wuthering Waves and DOOM. I’m based in the UK with a budget of around £1,500, but I can go a little over if needed. I don’t need any peripherals like a keyboard, mouse or monitor, as I already have both a 4K monitor and a 1440p monitor. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
