So our sugargliders are together in one cage for 3/4 days and we noticed missing hair between his ears should we be concerned or is that normal between male and female sugargliders (sorry for the blurry photo)

Looking to re-home two 1-year old gliders.

We adopted Bob and Linda when they were a few weeks old and have had them for about 13 months. They are super sweet, well trained, and healthy. Unfortunately we can't give them the attention they deserve. Their schedule is basically the opposite of ours. In addition my wife is very sensitive to smells and has had a very difficult time with the marsupial smell. We are located near Portland, OR if anyone is interested!

Bonding Navi & Nova ❤️

It’s been about a month since I got my first pair of sugar gliders. Still working on the bonding. I read to have them in a bonding pouch during the day when they’re sleepy to help bond to you but I just feel bad bothering them when they’re sleeping in their hammock pouch. I do spend time with them every night though before bed and I’m enjoying all the time spent with them.

General Help Pet Friendly Air Freshener?

Obviously im not gonna spray anything on my babies, but previous to owning sugar gliders I used to light insence or candles to keep my room smelling good, but have since stopped because I know its not great for their little noses.

I keep up on their hygiene, I wipe theire whole cage down once a week when I change their bedding and a deep clean every month. But they Obviously just have a unique smell, that just comes with having them.

Im not sure whats going to be safe for them while still making me less embarrassed to have people in my bed room. Its not like they smell like urine or anything they just have that musky scent that most exotic animals have!

If anyone has any suggestions, or brands they like, im open to conversation! Thank you :)

Diet New here! Food questions.

Hello! I was surprised today with a pair of Sugar Gliders! Both females.
I was given paperwork about diet, some yogurt bite treats, and some pellet food- along with food you mix up; a powder, bee pollen, and you add raw unfiltered honey and egg to it, and freeze.
It then had recipes for several “fruit salads” with weights listed. Using fresh or fresh frozen foods.
I mixed up one with frozen veggies, berry blend, kale, and buck choy.
Going to get meal worms as well.

What do you all feed yours?? I mixed up quite a bit of both food, and the salad- just curious.

Behavior Help! Glider behaviour

Hi I'm new to having gliders. I have a pair of 2 young female gliders for a few weeks now and they have got along so perfectly sleeping and playing together and showing affection. They both came from the same breeder and are familiar with eachother. One even calls for the other one to come out and play. Their names are Sugar & Spice (Sugar is leucistic and Spice is light silver platinum) Spice is the dominant of the 2 and usually runs the show with Sugar often following her around. Sugar is definitely more "tame".

They both are in a massive cage with tons of space, glider safe toys, pouches and wheel. They are on BML diet. They are very physically healthy, active and vocal. However, the last 2 days I have noticed a significant sudden change in behaviour. Spice has been way more aggressive than her usually "spicy" self. She is being aggressive towards poor little Sugar and it hasnt seem to let up all night long. Its very concerning. There has been no injuries or physical attack as far as I have seen. I found that Sugar didnt even sleep with Spice last night and she seems stressed and scared which I dont blame her.. I hoped it was just horomones cuz Spice could be in heat but Im not sure because this is my first time having gliders. I heard the fighting again tonight and decided to remove Spice and put her in her own cage for time to cool off but now shes calling non stop for Sugar even though the cage are right next to eachother.

If someone can please tell me if this is normal, will their relationship go back to normal? and give some advice how do i stop it or does this mean they arent a good match? Im so lost right now am I even doing the right thing.

Also alot of the aggression happens around the wheel I think could it be like a resource gaurding thing?

Behavior Hungry or grooming?

I just got my gliders 3 weeks ago. When I stick my hand in the cage open palm, one of my girls will grab my fingers and lick them or nibble. Last night though she flipped my hand over and climbed on top and went ham on a bump ive had since I could remember. Does she think its a little bug to eat or is she trying to groom me? She wouldn't let go even when trying to remove her or shake her off. I included a picture of the bump. If anyone happens to know what it might be too lmk lol.

Should I get a sugar glider?

So I'm looking to buy 2 sugar gliders and I've done some research on them but do they make good pets? What are the challenges for having a sugar glider as a pet and what is outstanding about having them as a pet? I'm at home most of the time so I won't be ditching them for 8 hrs

Got these two little girls recently and still can't decide on names lol. Both are classic grey, super curious and love exploring everything. They also bite a lot 😂 so yeah, they're little menaces. Any name suggestions? Preferably something cute or funny, but I'm open to anything.

Behavior Hiss/Bark?

Hello all! I've posted here before and for those who saw it, this is our solo girl who we're working on integrating with a male. The short version is we have a solo girl who was traumatized by her old home and now lives with us in a solo cage due to antisocial behaviors. After a lot of work she's getting better, but tonight I noticed something odd. She has been making this sort of bark/hissing noise while rubbing herself against the bars of her cage closest to her other roommates, who are also in a cage. They can see each other, but her cage has been just hers for years and we have stopped blocking their views of each other because they largely tend to ignore each other. She doesn't seem like she's trying to potty because as i said, her posture is entirely straight and she's just rubbing herself against the bars while doing it. Sometimes she does it while hidden as well, but never from a pouch. She took one of her favorite treats and was fine to crawl around the room openly for a minute, although she didn't try to interact with out other cage much. Any ideas? Is she stressed, is she lonely? What should I try?

Medical home defense spray concern

Hello!

I just came home and my mom told me she'd sprayed home defense in my room around my window AC. I wasn't able to pouch my boys today, so they were still in the room in their cage, and unsurprisingly I am really freaking out right now. She told me that it's fine because the window was open, the AC was off, she only sprayed "a little" in a concentrated area, and their cage is currently covered with a blanket. However, their cage is eight feet away at best from the window, the blanket doesn't fully enclose the cage (plus it's a blanket), and they're literally sugar gliders. I don't need to tell any of you how sensitive they are. She doesn't know how long ago she sprayed but it's dry now, and I don't know what to do. The nearest emergency vet is 2 hours away and also doesn't actually keep someone properly trained in exotics at this time of day (I know this isn't okay; one of the reasons I'm trying to move) so I don't know if they could help me anyway. I can hear one of them rustling about in the cage right now and he just chirped a little as I'm typing this, which is reassuring, but how freaked out do you think I need to be right now? And are there any best measures I can take, besides making sure this never happens again?

Thank you so much for your help, and the boys say thank you too.

My family hates my gliders :(

I asked my family (mom dad and brother) to take care of my sugar gliders while I traveled for my friends wedding.

I am back now and the gliders are fine but my parents went on and on about how they hate them, how they are creepy and to never adopt another one.

It made me really sad and I just wanted some words of encouragement and love for my little guys.

Bonding A little bit of bonding help?

I've had my leucistic male glider, Finn, for roughly three years now after a former professor gifted him to me. He's very sweet around people and very well tempered. I just recently moved out of my parents house a few months ago and got him a common grey girlfriend, Midnight. She's much more ill tempered and skittish around people, she crabs at me for getting too close to her cage, but she's quite fond of my girlfriend and will eat directly out of her hands. My girlfriend and I are not only working on getting Midnight used to us but also trying to get her used to Finn. We've tried having them out together three times now, the first time we had issues with Finn being aggressive, the second time neither of them showed any interest in each other, and the third time we had issues with Midnight being aggressive. I've never bonded two gliders together and am worried i may be doing something wrong, we've tried neutral spaces, we've tried treats, so I'm just here asking for a bit of advice on how to bond them.

Caging/Toys Building outdoor cage, Any thoughts?

Hi, I'm planning to build an outdoor cage for both of my sugar gliders, mainly because my family isn't very comfortable with their strong, unusual odor.

I'm not too concerned about predators or wildlife animals since I live in a gated community, and I don't think there are any predatory animals around my area. I'm aware that direct sunlight can be harmful to their eyes, so I'm planning to use a cage cover that provides shade for them.

Aside from weather conditions, predators, and insects, are there any other risks or concerns I should consider before moving them outdoors?

I'd appreciate your thoughts and suggestions, especially from anyone who has experience keeping sugar gliders in outdoor enclosures.
