Meta Buy/Sell/Trade Thread: October 2026

Weekly Questions Thread can be found here

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!

Please start your comment with your location as such: [UK and EU] or [USA, California] on a separate line.

Thank you!

Import regulations mean it is difficult to send plant material between certain countries.

Check for hard frosts overnight before posting your parcel!

Scammers will not be tolerated! If you have sent a plant and not heard from your sender, message the mods and we will take care of it. Anyone found to be scamming will be banned from the sub.

A few points:

  • Please add your location. Many countries will have import restrictions. As a simple guide, within EU, okay. Within US, okay. EU to US or vice versa, not okay. Australia: complicated.
  • Please try to keep the sales/trades to succulents. There is a list of sister subreddits in the sidebar should you want other plants.
  • Think about trading seeds and pollen too. Growing from seed can be very rewarding and be a good way to expand your collection.
  • Grow tips are highly encouraged when trading. Its nice to know what you're getting if you have never grown one before. Share your potting mediums and watering guides to help your receiver grow successfully!
  • Do show us some photos of what you got!
  • Have a quick check to see if there is a risk of frost overnight before sending the parcel.
  • There are some tips of packaging succulents for shipping below. I've had people send me plants in egg cartons before. They work really well.
  • If you have nothing to trade but would like some plants, people are often happy to send you plants for money or just the cost of postage and packaging.

Happy swapping!

You can find some tips for packaging succulents in the wiki

All Sales and Trades are to be done at your own risk. The moderators of the Succulent sub are not responsible for your transactions. This thread is only a means for discovery and contact.

But, please, if you get scammed or ripped off, report the offending user to the mods via modmail.

Let’s not be jerky little immature folks, okay?

We’ve had a few…incidents lately. So, let’s just cover something again: Rule 1: Be Nice. This is a plant sub, and I’m shocked at the amount of drama that occurs on a regular basis here. The attitudes get crazy. You should always be mindful to how you speak to people; you may have an answer to correct a potential issue, or help others, but there is always a right way and a wrong way to say things.

  • There is never any need for childish mocking, name calling, or harassment.
  • We don’t gatekeep, and we don’t shame. Let us not try not tell others that what they’re doing is wrong, and only what you do is right or better.
  • Only help if it’s asked for, or if the tone of the OP seems willing to listen. If you wish to gently suggest constructive criticism, but the OP rejects it, please accept and move on.

The sub is mostly made up of home hobbyists, of all levels. From absolute beginners, to experts, and everything in between. And, thus, we also have a huge variety care needs and habits, climates and environments. We love it when professionals, or growers with many many years of experience come on and share input, advice, and of course their plants! We do not love it when people take their experience too seriously, and bully others for doing things their own way.

We also have to remember, not every person may be as passionate about their plants as others are. “We listen, and don’t judge.” Someone has a terrarium doomed to fail, but they wanna do it anyways? Let them. Someone has a packed arrangement in sand, because that’s what they want? Cool, move on. That sun starved etiolated plant at OP’s desk makes them happy despite suggestions to make it healthier? Don’t harsh their buzz. Let’s all do better about being a welcoming subreddit for both beginners and veterans of the hobby.

Once again, I know many of us really want everyone to have the healthiest, “happiest” plant(s) around. And it’s fine to offer suggestions to better someone’s care. But if the OP ignores or passes on suggestions, please just accept and move on.

If you are ever harassed via chat, or in another sub by anyone, please don’t hesitate to report them to the admins, but also please send us a modmail regarding that user. This also applies if someone follows you to our sub from elsewhere, report the comment or send us a modmail. We may ask for screenshots to be sure of the situation. We don’t ban users willy-nilly, but harassment will never be accepted.

And for anyone who breaks these rules, and gets themselves a ban, when you rage at us in modmail it doesn’t hurt our feelings because we are adults. Sorry you’re unable to be an adult about things. But then again, people who bully others on the internet lack some maturity to really be classified as adults. ♥️

Misc What are your thoughts on this cute hybrid? 💕

Yes, this is real and not AI-generated.

I saw this posted today on Instagram by @mr.m_hybrid_collections and I wanted to share. This echeveria, only known as ウーパールーパー or 'Axolotl' was created by Mashaveria in 2023. They have observed the specimen for 2 years and found the characteristic to be consistent enough to be considered a new species. They said that the color is normally gray or white and become more pink as it received more sun. The jagged edges vary depending on the environment and season they grew up in.

With the color pairs with the shape, it give Mr. M's friend, Mr. K, an idea to give the name mentioned. Unfortunately, they don't ship worldwide. So for now, I can only admire it from a far.

I've also got curious (because I have too much time on my hands) and decided to take a guess on what the parentage could be as it is currently undisclosed.

My hope in sharing it now is to spark more discussion on succulent hybrid in the subreddit because it's a really interesting topic and I really want to try it myself.

Just wanted to share. After months of this little guy slowly shriveling and looking like it was dying, I made what I thought was a last ditch effort to save it by giving it refreshed, more gritty soil. I’m new to succulents and so excited to see the better soil has made such a big difference in only a few weeks! 😊

How do I know? Well if I can not bring anymore strings up into the pot, to take root, it's time. Every repot, I bring the strings up and pin them down using mini hair pins/bobby pins. This one is grown indoors only since we get snow. Barrina T5s on a timer for 12 hours. It gets watered every two weeks. It's in bonsai jack gritty mix 111.

A friend of mine gifted me this for my collection after it wasn’t doing so well. I’ve spent the last few months getting it “healthier”. There is some green on the tips and some of the smaller “pups” are green and healthy.

I’ve yet to identify what species it is?

Also if I should remove any of the discolored spots and let some of the smaller guys take over?

Any helps or tips to get it healthy would be appreciated.

Sedum hernandezii photographed in June 2025. This is a Mexican species so probably not hardy in Calgary, Canada. The cracked icing look to the leaves is normal.

Unsure if these are too crowded in this pot together. Originally it only had two but I thought it looked too empty and one thing led to another and here we are. Should I remove one or can they chill like for a while?

I’ve neglected my echeveria for too long, now she is in really bad shape. Is there some kind of fungal infection? Will it go away once I water?

As a birthday activity for my sister, I got her a nice plant pot and a variety of little succulents to arrange as an activity together. I found my own pot (I thought maybe it was too big, but it was discounted to $5 because of the chips in it) and put in the extra succulents. From June 2024 to October 2026, it has grown and evolved into a big happy succulent soup!

My Dwarf Snake plant that grew a pup recently, decided to grow another pup. I really like the way they look together, and didn’t plan to separate them. But now with two pups, it does seem kinda crowded. Will they work it out themselves? Or do I have to separate them?

Identification Echeveria Robin

Is Echeveria Robin a hybrid? Or is it a mutation of Romeo/Romeo Rubin?

If it is a hybrid, do you know the parentage? Google shows a different plant (not the red one) when I search for it’s parentage.

I've had this mug for almost 8 years now and it always just sat empty on my shelf. I finally have a good use for it! I feel like it goes perfectly with my hawthorne 🥰

My hawthorne is actually in a small terracotta pot that happens to fit perfectly in this mug. I boosted it up by cutting a used toilet paper roll to the right height and set it on that ^-^

Seyrigia humbertii, a special species from Madagascar and it is in the Cucurbitaceae family. That’s why it looks like some melons or cucumbers 🤣

I love that it is pale white with soft fur on it, feels like a cat to me.
