🙌 Guide on how to use r/studying

Here’s how to get the most out of the sub:

  • Read the rules. They are very easy to follow and will make your participation, as well as that of other users, much more comfortable, enjoyable, and productive.
  • Be specific in questions. “How do I study the English literature in three weeks?” is better than “How do I study?”
  • Search before posting. Your question may already have an answer. It's better to spend a few minutes searching than to have your post removed.
  • Engage thoughtfully. Share insights, offer help, and contribute kindly. And please remember to be a human.
  • Keep everything relevant. Your posts must relate to studying, productivity, motivation, or aspects of student life.
  • Use the Wiki (coming soon!) for detailed guides, FAQs, and trusted resources.

  • Mods’ advice corner. From time to time, our mod team will share personal tips, favorite study methods, or honest insights into common struggles. Think of them like advice from a fellow student.
  • Weekly accountability thread. A space to quickly share what you’re working on this week and check in with others. If you see someone doing something in which you have some sort of expertise, you can offer support.
  • Q&A and advice. Got a question about how to manage your study load or prepare for finals? Just ask. Others might have been in your shoes.

help plss

Hi! I’m a first-year Chemistry student, and I’m struggling to figure out how to study effectively. After 12 years of school, I feel like I’ve been studying the wrong way. I have lectures, textbooks, PDFs, and exercises, but I don’t know how to use them effectively.

My modules are thermochemistry, thermodynamics, atomic structure (atomistique), algebra, analysis, and mechanics of a point.

Sometimes I feel like I’m not smart enough for this field, but I genuinely believe I’m just using the wrong methods.

Students who excel in these subjects, how do you actually study? How do you go from understanding a lecture to solving difficult exercises independently? How do you organize your notes, revise, and practice effectively?

I’d really appreciate detailed, practical advice on your study methods, especially for first-year university science courses. Thank you!

IWTL the secrets of the academic weapon

I used to be really good at school whnee I was younger I would also get A plus grades but now that I am older those all feel like a distant dream. I used to hate getting an 80 something but now that is what I aimed for. I promise it’s not that I am slacking in class or not listening, I truly am but my grades are still really bad. Just a year ago I have 97 in all my classes now my grades are the opposite of that.

It used to be so easy to stay organized and finish all my work but now it’s hard. I still haven’t adapted to it yet and is struggling. It’s hard to balance my core classes and one elective, and other things like life without prioritizing the wrong things. Whenever I come home I just scroll for hours without acc getting any work done. So to all those people who are really good in school please give me your secrets! How do you stay organized and ontop of things without jeopardizing your social life? And how do you have time to do everything you want to do?

I want to do hobbies and etc but I never have the time I even quit an extracullar I had cus I could manage it. So overall I want to know how to get everything done and do it all and have time for hobbies and social life. And also how to acc study for the different subjects as I know all the subjects differ in how to study but I haven’t cracked the code yet. My teacher has recommended to use ai for questions but the questions are repetitive and the only other way I know is re reading. And also how to have the motivation to acc lock in.

any place to get actual help with college essay topics? kinda hitting a wall here

Took 18 credits this semester thinking it would be fine, but my head feels completely empty today. Spent four hours in the campus library just staring at a blank doc and ended up with basically nothing.

Some guys in my dorm told me to just buy college essay papers online or pay someone to write my college essay so i don’t ruin my grade. Problem is, most of these sites look super sketchy and i really dont want to throw money away on some low-effort garbage.

How do you guys deal with this when your brain just refuses to write? If anyone knows a place to get legit help with college essay assignments or editing that actually makes sense, please let me know.

Looking for a Study Buddy to Study Together Daily

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a study buddy who wants to study regularly, preferably every day. I feel like having someone to study with can help us stay consistent, motivated, and accountable.

We can motivate each other, share our daily goals, check in on our progress, and push each other to keep going, especially on days when motivation is low. I'll do my best to motivate and support you too! 😊

I have no gender preference at all. I just want someone who's genuinely interested in studying consistently and helping each other stay on track.

If you're interested, feel free to DM me directly! Let's work toward our goals together. 💪📖

: Strict Study Accountability Partner:

I am a student looking for a strict, firm, punctual, and responsible accountability partner for 10–15 minutes daily via WhatsApp.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that I follow my own timetable consistently.

Check my daily study targets and progress.

Monitor my daily habits and routine.

Ask for evidence of completed tasks when necessary.

Challenge excuses and hold me accountable when I waste time or fail to follow my schedule.

Review missed targets and require a clear corrective plan.

Conduct a brief weekly review of my discipline, consistency, and overall progress.

Important: I am not looking for motivation, counselling, or subject teaching. I need someone firm who takes this responsibility seriously, follows up daily, and does not accept repeated excuses.

Time commitment: 10–15 minutes per day.

Payment: Rs 2,000–2,500 per month.

If you are reliable, disciplined, and comfortable holding someone accountable in a firm but respectful manner, please message me with a short introduction and your availability.

Looking for Study Buddy(^-^)/

Hii,

i'm from mauritius studying for cambridge o levels and honestly studying by myself is so boring lmao. i've heard igcses are similar so that works too. would love someone to study with online and actually be friends too, not just all work and no fun haha

we'd do study sessions over video calls on whatsapp or instagram, that'd be nice. i'm doing math, english, french, sociology, economics, accounting, comp sci, and lit in english so if any of those match that's great! we can help each other out when stuff gets confusing, share notes, keep each other motivated, and yeah just be friends too honestly. it's nicer having someone to talk to about everything not just exams lol

time zone here is GMT+4 but i don't mind wherever you are as long as we get this done together

App to track when I need to revise for spaced repetition

Hey I’m in need for an app to log what I studied and have it make for me a spaced repetition plan. I don’t want something like Anki with flashcards ( the material I’m studying isn’t compatible), I’d just like a study planner and reminder for when I should go back over my notes with spaced repetition, and that adapts the spaced repetition program when I miss a day and revise it later ( unlike revu ). Thank you!
