Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) president director Jeffrey Hendrik said on Oct 20 that global index providers operated independently, responding to allegations by former trade minister Muhammad Lutfi that Singaporeâs investment company Temasek and its sovereign wealth fund GIC were pressuring MSCI to downgrade Indonesiaâs stock market to âstandaloneâ status.

âThese consequences, these penalties, do not just affect the companyâs directors and management. They also affect the value of investments and interests of shareholders,â he said at the SIAS Investorsâ Choice Awards on Oct 21.
âHence, it is very legitimate for SIAS (Securities Investors Association, Singapore) to complement the actions of regulators, SGX and banks to speak out on behalf of investors and to seek answers from the companies concerned.â

Super Typhoon Champi is now very near the Philippines, moving northwest. Official sources expects it to turn more northward east of Taiwan over the next few days, weakening quite a lot as it does so.
Looking at the ECMWF 6-hourly rainfall forecast, the fire areas in Sumatra and Kalimantan have been pretty dry these few days.
And from the ECMWF wind forecast, the current flow looks quite unfavourable for us, so I wouldnât be surprised if the haze gets worse over the next few days, especially around Friday.
But thereâs some good news after that.
As Champi moves north and weakens, the regional wind pattern changes quite drastically. The ECMWF rainfall forecast then shows widespread heavy rain returning across Sumatra, Kalimantan and much of our region from Saturday onwards into early next week.
So my current read is basically:
Now till Fri: dry over many fire areas + unfavourable winds = haze risk remains / could worsen.
Sat onwards: rain comes back in force = hopefully the haze/fires finally get properly suppressed.
Of course this is still a model forecast and things can shift, but if this ECMWF run is anywhere close to rightâŚ
Bye bye Haze 2026? đ
TL;DR: Probably a few more hazy days to tahan. Then the weather pattern flips and Indonesia (and the region) gets drenched from around Saturday onwards.
