TIGER a 17-year-old tabby cat was surrendered to Devore Animal Shelter. She is a spayed female who is very scared and needs help. Don’t let this loud shelter be the end for.

The shelter stated this about the cat… “Cat hides in condo upon approach.” But there really is no place to hide so it’s bit ironic to say this. Poor thing needs out. Seeking pledges to help with dental care in case it gets expensive.

Our shelter is reaching capacity, we would appreciate your help in facilitating this pet’s exit from our shelter.

Tiger, A851621 is a Gray, spayed, domestic estimated to be 17 years old. Cat came into the shelter on 9/11/26 and became available for rescue on 09/12/26. Please see cats notes listed below:

9/14/26 - Cat has unkept coat, foul odor coming from mouth, looks underweight behaviorist weighted cat at 6.31lbs.
9/14/26 Cat hides in condo upon approach. Handler offered Churu to which cat eagerly ate. Handler was able to take cat to cat play room and brush cat. Cat is stressed in kennel and shelter environment. Cat displays a coat that is unkept, suggesting cat has not been grooming self before entering shelter care. Cat has an unpleasant odor coming from mouth, Vet team has been notified.
09/15/26 hemoptysis noted in AM, severe periodontal disease. P did not eat wet food overnight. P does not appear to be grooming herself. BCS 2/9. P needs extensive work up and most likely full mouth extractions if healthy enough to undergo anesthesia. Rescue only

Animal Care

SBC Devore Animal Shelter is responsible for much of SBC cities animals. It contracts with a large region and is always overloaded. The past few months they’ve taken less cats resulting in less euthanasia. However more end up on city streets and healthy adult cats are not accepted now. Their rules have changed but cats are still very much in need of rescue here. They also handle overflow from Apple Valley & Big Bear. Helping these cats is a very serious goal and commitment for this rescue teams in our community.

The bulk of rescues are spread out across So Cal all the way from San Diego to Los Angeles to Riverside to Ventura County. Blip, A849441 is a Gray Tabby, Unknown Gender, Domestic Shorthair estimated to be 6 months old. Blip came into the shelter on 08/09 and became available for rescue on 08/14.
Behavior Notes:
Kitten was hiding in condo upon approach. Handler offered Churu kitten hissed and spit then swatted at handler.
These behaviors indicate fear-based defensive reactivity. Kitten is not yet comfortable with human proximity or hand-delivered food and escalates when approached directly.
The kitten demonstrates a high level of fear, low threshold for defensive escalation, and limited coping skills in a shelter environment. Kitten is unlikely to make behavioral progress in the current setting.
Medical Notes:
08/11/2026 Staff was unable to panleuk test during impound. Sample found in litter box in AM. Panleuk tested using IDEXX Snap Parvo Snap test, resulted negative.
08/24/26 Yellow nasal discharge and sneezing noted in AM. Per protocol start doxycycline
Rx: doxycycline 10mg/ml 2.2ml PO SID x 5 days
08/25/26 No nasal discharge noted but sneezing appreciated, P was hissing and ran into condo making it difficult to evaluate.
09/06/26 Observed mild, yellow nasal discharge. Kitten is BAR, hissing, eating and drinking wnl.
- Doxy 10mg/ml 2.3ml po SID x 5 days
Ok to put doxy in food since kitten is unable to be handled safely
09/08/26 Sneezing and audible congestion appreciated in AM. P is hissing and hiding in condo on approach.
09/10/26 Observed clear nasal discharge. Continue meds and monitor.
09/11/26 Observed no active discharge. Slight audible congestion. QAR, eating and drinking wnl. Asked to provide in kennel enrichment.
09/12/26 OBSERVED CAT SNEEZING WITH CHEST AUDIBLE CHEST CONGESTION. UNABLE TO HANDLE CAT AND GIVE ORAL MEDS DIRECTLY. WILL START ON ANOTHER ROUND OF ORAL ABX AND REQUEST FOR RESCUE INTERVENTION AS THE CAT NEEDS MORE CARE THAN THE SHELTER CAN PROVIDE. RX: DOXYCYCLINE 27MG SID X 5 DAYS.

FLIP is friendly but seems to have gotten himself into a bit of a mess and now is in the shelter and needs rescue help. His injuries are a little too much for the average adopter. He will become urgent and is also vulnerable to colds and ailments in the shelter so needs to exit.

MEDICAL: 09/01/26 Seen by third party vet for injury to face and left forelimb
Partial degloving of lip (lower)+ injury to distal front limb. possible fracture not painful on palpation
Gave convenia injection 0.14ml SQ
May need stabalization of left antebrachium + repair of lower lip.
Per shelter protocol start gabapentin.
Rx: 0.3ml PO BID x 5 days
wet food only
Will confer with shelter DVM about further treatment and care.
09/02/26 Ate all wet food offered overnight. Front left limb completely non weight bearing when moving, bends at unnatural angle when placed on ground during pressed to floor, during eating or laying.
09/05/26 08:10 Kitten came back from vet last night. Full notes pending.
09/05/26 10:01 *Vet* 
Problems:
1)  Mandibular/oral wound: degloved injury of the chin, surgically closed.
2) Right forelimb lameness with abnormal positioning concerning for a fracture; nondisplaced fracture of the left radius and ulna confirmed on radiographs.
Diagnostics:
• Sedated radiographs of left forelimb - Performed; confirmed non-displaced fracture of radius and ulna and alignment after splint placement.
Dx: Nondisplaced left radius and ulna fracture; traumatic degloving injury of the chin, repaired.
Rx: Clavamox 62.5mg/ml 0.15ml po BID x 10 days
Gabapentin 50mg/ml 0.15ml po BID x 10 days
Kitten is rescue only due to medical care being more than the avg adopter can handle
09/05/26 Kitten is doing well. Eating and drinking wnl. Splint dry and in place. Vocal and seeking attention. Continue to monitor.
09/08/26 P is BAR in kennel, splint intact.
FVRCP VACCINE: First dose on 9/1/26, next one due 9/15/26
BEHAVIOR: Comes to front of cage right away – soliciting, rubbing against cage front. Solicits petting and attention – rubs, meows. Interested in interacting with you makes eye contact, approaches, meow, purrs, head butts.

San Bernardino City Animal Shelter is a high kill high volume operation. It is located in the largest county in the US. SBC is located in Southern California where the overpopulation crisis is raging. During kitten season new babies are turned in daily, sometimes 30 or more a day! People just don’t s/n in SBC! So we must keep up with the demand. Many cats brought in are sick injured confiscated or abandoned as well. The shelter does not offer much more than basic treatment for sick/injured cats either so they must exit quickly by rescue or they are listed for euthanasia with a fast deadline depending on the ability to care for them. We do have amazing volunteers though that give us first hand information updates photos videos and almost instant feedback. Please help us by pledging and donating when we post and rescue. Thank you.
Also we always need transport to get cats to rescues. So if you can help by setting aside a small amount to our transport fund this is appreciated. It doesn’t go to the rescue it gets them TO the rescue. We absolutely need this part too.

‼️URGENT‼️ SWEETIE is a gray 3-year-old kitty > quiet and getting overlooked >> shelter marked her URGENT >> at Devore Animal Shelter

SWEETIE is truly a little sweetie-pie… she is in a bottom kennel and not as vocal or active as the kitten so she is getting overlooked… she had a cold and was market super urgent .. then recovered a little and wasn’t as urgent… but now marked urgent again. Looks like she still has a lingering cold. Probably from stress. Once out of the shelter I think her personality will come out and she is a really neat cat. Need a rescue to help.

Animal Care

SBC Devore Animal Shelter is responsible for much of SBC cities animals. It contracts with a large region and is always overloaded. The past few months they’ve taken less cats resulting in less euthanasia. However more end up on city streets and healthy adult cats are not accepted now. Their rules have changed but cats are still very much in need of rescue here. They also handle overflow from Apple Valley & Big Bear. Helping these cats is a very serious goal and commitment for this rescue teams in our community.

We need funds for transportation…AVAS & Devore Animal shelters are further out. The bulk of rescues are spread out across So Cal all the way from San Diego to Los Angeles to Riverside to Ventura County. Gas is not cheap and collecting funds to pay for short notice transport is the only way to save them.
