As I'm studying for sys design interviews i wanted to do mocks with a strong AI agent to get feedback and simulate the real thing, without paying another penny over my codex/claude subscriptions, so I've created an MCP with local web app for a sketch board to draw on while speaking, and the ai would provide feedback and answers in real time, have been using it for couple of days and its really cool!
repo: https://github.com/tGhattas/sysdesign-board
install instructions are in the repo. enjoy and good luck!

I’m thinking of creating an app that lets you freeze your current screen so you can draw or write notes directly over it using custom pens. It’s designed to help organize thoughts and capture ideas quickly—whether you’re solving a math problem while studying or jotting down notes while writing code.
It would function similarly to tools like ZoomIt or QuickPen.
Do you think this would be a useful app worth building? My primary goal isn't to monetize it, but to build something helpful for myself and others, while learning the software engineering required to build desktop apps. (Also, I plan to code this myself without using AI to generate the code, as I want to truly learn the process).

I recently bought a Mac, and I personally find it difficult to use cd, and normal navigation in command line was getting too much effort for me.
I know other powerful apps are there, but they have a kinda 'learning curve' for me.
So here it is, cdx, intuitive extension of cd command.
Hope you guys like it.

I'm working on a side project that isn't software: an original shared universe of creepy anomalies, written collaboratively, like a community-built horror encyclopedia. Short, strange, report-style entries about things that shouldn't exist and how to survive them.
Where it's at:
About 11 members so far
A handful of entries, some written by members, not just me
Right now writings have this nature mostly:
A basic template, early lore, and art for some entries
Free and non-commercial, with credit for everything you write
The plan:
r/AnomalyUniverse is a temporary gathering base. Once we reach 100+ active participants, the goal is to move to a dedicated site for the universe, whether that's a wiki or another platform, with the platform and structure decided by majority vote. Early members help shape that decision.
What I'm looking for:
Writers, even for a single entry
Artists who want to illustrate anomalies
Future site builders: people with wiki, web, or moderation experience who'd want a hands-on role in building and running the site when we get there
It's a hobby project with no fixed time commitment. Contribute as much or as little as you like.
Community: r/AnomalyUniverse
If you've run a collaborative project before, I'd love to hear what you'd do differently in the first few months.

After discovering Sigma forms, I expanded my Sigma app beyond reporting by adding an interactive coffee order form. Users can submit coffee shop orders directly within the application, and the resulting data is surfaced through a dashboard of coffee shop metrics. This project highlights how Sigma can support both operational workflows and analytics in one tool. personal project. #SigmaGiveaway

Hi r/projects ,
Try it: https://pmp-sandy.vercel.app
Code: https://github.com/JahangirB/PMP
I've been building PMP Prep Suite, a free study app for the PMP (Project Management Professional) exam. [One line on why you built it, e.g. "I'm preparing for the exam myself and wanted a tool that tells me what to study each day."]
What it does
- You enter your exam date and how much time you have. It builds a day-by-day study plan and re-plans when you miss days.
- Each day you press Continue and it gives you the next lesson, practice questions, flashcards or mock exam, in order.
- Situational questions in the style of the exam. Each one explains why, and names the mindset behind the right answer.
- Full mock exams (180 questions, 240 minutes, two breaks), a readiness score, and analytics on all 26 tasks of the exam outline.
- Optional: chat with Gemini using your own free API key. It can see your progress and answer questions about it.
- A Theory section with 26 chapters on project management in depth (still in testing).
How it's built
- The web app is a single HTML file with no framework and no backend. It works offline, and you can download the file and keep it.
- Native Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) and iPhone (SwiftUI) apps use the same content and the same progress format, with optional sync through your own Google Apps Script.
- No account, no ads, no tracking. Your progress stays on your device.
Honest caveats
- The questions and lessons were written with AI and checked by scripts, not reviewed against PMI's materials. Some will be debatable or wrong, and there's a button to report them.
- The iPhone app isn't on the App Store (you sideload it), and it hasn't been tested on a real iPhone yet.
- Not affiliated with PMI.
What I'd love feedback on
Thanks for any feedback, harsh is fine.

Actually at the end of the year, we have a science fair in our school. Most probably i have to participate in it from our school. So i was planning to make something virtual to show the guests in the fair. That's why i wanted your advice. What can i make and exhibit? I am really a beginner. I just need you guy's opinion.
# It can be a software, website or anything else.

Hey all, I've been building Pinage Maps, an offline-first map app for tourists, rangers, miners and labourers who spend time out of signal.
Maps and boundaries
• Offline satellite maps you can download by region
• Drop pins with photos, record trails and see your breadcrumb path
• Draw zones as a circle or custom boundary, with the area shown in hectares
• Draw lines with distance and compass bearing, or sketch freehand
• Flag hazard and no-go zones
• Organise pins, zones and notes into projects for a job, site or trip
AR view
• Point your camera to see your pins and hazard zones over the real world, with distances
• Sun, moon and star paths overlaid on the sky, with moonrise times and moon phase
AI
• AI field assistant that uses Claude when you have signal and switches to an on-device Llama model when you're offline
• Plant and rock ID from a photo, with a confidence rating and safety warnings
Safety
• SOS (press and hold) for the local emergency number, with mesh and SMS
• Deadman switch that alerts others if you stop responding
• Check-in timer that texts your contacts your last position if you're not back by a set time
• Emergency card showing your position in lat/lon, degrees and grid reference to read out to 000
Groups and crews
• Create a profile and add members to private groups
• Share files, waypoints, pins, zones and notes with your group, so everyone in the party has the same map
• Field forms like Step Back 5x5, incident reports and day briefs that crew members can mark as read
Most of it works with no signal. The Claude assistant, check-in timer and group syncing need a connection.
It's still in development, and I'd really like to know:
• Would you actually use this? Who do you think it's most useful for?
• What feels unnecessary or confusing?
• What's missing that you'd need out in the field?
Screenshots below. Be honest, I can take it.

I wanted to share an application I've been building and using over the past few months.
It's called Personal Planner.
The idea came from a pretty ordinary frustration.
I'd organise my day, assign activities to different times, and try to follow the plan.
Some days it worked.
Other days I'd underestimate how long something would take, get distracted, or have to move unfinished work to tomorrow.
The part that bothered me wasn't failing to follow the original schedule.
It was realising that I kept repeating the same planning mistakes because I never properly looked back at what happened.
So I wanted a planner that did more than maintain a to-do list.
Personal Planner has three main parts: planning, tracking and reviewing.
The planning side is an hour-by-hour timeline. You can drag activities to different time slots, resize them, create recurring routines and organise tasks using categories and templates.
During the day, each activity can have its own timer.
You can start, pause and stop the timer directly from the task.
The app keeps both your planned duration and the amount of time you actually spent, so you don't lose your original estimate.
Afterward, Daily Review shows what you completed, what got postponed and how your time was distributed.
You can write short reflections, record how the day felt and explain why something didn't happen.
Weekly Review brings several days together, while Overview lets you revisit your earlier activity.
I also added a few features for longer-term planning.
There's a year-long consistency heatmap with streaks.
Experiments let you set targets for routines you're trying over several weeks. If you tag the relevant activities, the app measures progress from the work you've already tracked.
And the Inbox gives you a place to store ideas until you're ready to schedule them.
The app is offline-first.
It uses a local SQLite database, so normal planning and tracking don't depend on an internet connection.
If you want to synchronize multiple devices, you can optionally connect a Supabase project that you control.
It currently supports Android, Linux, Windows and macOS.
The desktop builds have a few limitations: Windows and macOS are unsigned, macOS hasn't been tested on physical hardware, and notifications aren't implemented on those two platforms yet.
Personal Planner is completely free.
No subscription, premium tier or locked features.
I'm not planning to monetize it. I built it for myself and wanted to share it with anyone who finds the approach useful.
GitHub:
https://github.com/Karthikshabari/PersonalPlanner
Downloads:
https://github.com/Karthikshabari/PersonalPlanner/releases/tag/v1.1
If you decide to try it, I'd be particularly interested in your first impression.
Does the timeline make sense without much explanation?
Is the connection between tracking time and reviewing previous days obvious?
And is there something you'd simplify before adding any more functionality?
I'm trying to make the existing workflow easier to understand rather than just keep expanding the feature list.

You know the card that goes around the office when someone leaves. Thirty people squeeze a line each into whatever corner is left, and the person reads all of it in about forty seconds while everyone stands there watching.
I wanted to build the opposite of that.
So every message goes into its own little capsule, and the person turns a handle to get them out one at a time. No wall of text. Each note gets the whole screen to itself, even the ones that just say "congrats!!"
That's what the video shows.
A few things I learned building it
It's free if you want to try it on a friend. littlesurprise.app
Genuinely curious though. What's the best (or worst) group card you've ever gotten?

VoxScribe is a dictation project that turns speech into text entirely on your own device, with no cloud service and no account. On Windows you hold a hotkey in any app, talk, and let go, and the words are typed where your cursor is. On Android a floating button does the same over any app. It runs OpenAI’s Whisper locally, using faster-whisper on the PC and sherpa-onnx on the phone, and it is open source under the MIT license.
Most of the interesting work has been the unglamorous parts around the model. Microphones that look identical to the system but record near silence depending on which audio host API you pick, a sample rate that crashes on some drivers, and the problem of making sure the app never types into a password field, which turned out to need UI Automation called through raw ctypes and a workaround for a Chromium quirk.
Current work is mostly polish and a possible Linux version, which is tracked in an open issue. If you have worked with audio capture on Windows or Android, I would like to hear what else tends to break, and contributions are welcome.

We’re building Traveler Map, an interactive map for discovering parks and planning trips. We’ve just added a planner, and the video shows the current workflow.
It’s still an early MVP, with the USA as our test region. You can browse national and state parks, organize stops by day, and generate driving routes with estimated travel times.
We’d appreciate some feedback from anyone who gives it a try: what feels confusing, and what’s missing for planning a real trip?

Well-defined idea for an AI tool in fitness (personalized programming and progress tracking for personal trainers). I ran a gym for 7 years so I know the market but I do not have software building experience. I need to figure out how to turn an idea into a product people will pay for, and build alone, since I want structured guidance. Anyone found programs that help with this?

I built a personal Sigma app using community data from Instacart. Overall, I used AI to parse out the product data and classify it into larger groups for analysis. non-commerical
According to the data, the 3rd most popular item was an Econet Recycled Bath Sponge.
