Discussion Anyone else hate clicky mice
Finding a left handed or ambidextrous mouse is already near impossible, let alone one with silent clicks. I have no choice but to swap the switches myself.

I actually enjoy a reasonable click
But I've replaced the switches on mouses plenty because I can always go desolder a switch from my mouse graveyard
One time the new switch didn't quite fit the shell so I had to use my modeling tools to slowly shape the plastic post that actuates the switch-- I got to dial in exactly when the mouse clicked, it was like a custom click setup

I also love a good click which is why I own a mechanical keyboard my mouse has a nice satisfying click. However my wife hates both sounds so I have been banished to the room farthest from the living room.

Have you tried getting a mechanical keyboard for her? I accidentally got my wife into mechanical keyboards when she bought a cute key cap set thinking it was a full keyboard
Now we both furiously click into the night
I should actually probably learn to type more gently-- I probably annoy people at work now that I'm thinking about it

I hadn’t considered that… sounds like a solid plan and worst case scenario I would have two mechanical keyboards!

I’ve been wanting to do this, what switches did you use?

Been using a silent click gaming mouse for years. Love it. Was something cheap and generic from Amazon but its the best mouse I've ever owned. Cabled though, but I prefer that.
I'm the opposite for keyboards though. Mechanical all the way

Woah! You can make the clicking silent!! How? Im totally with you, I hate the noise

All you need is a soldering iron and replacement switches. Heat up the solder on the under side of the board until it liquifies and the switch comes out.
It's not too difficult but solder cools and re-solidifies almost instantly and there's a high risk of damaging your board, so I'd practice with some junk electronics first

I hate how loud most mice are. I usually pop open the switch housing and give the “spring” a slight bend. It reduces the actuation force and makes them quieter. You can make them essentially silent if you can live with hair triggers.

I hate desoldering and installing custom switches but hats off to ya for making it your own!
But meanwhile me wanting switches that feel like I'm hitting activation buttons for the weapons on a massive war machine with solid thunks and very clear tactile feedback....
I'm also not jazzed about lightweight mice I was the nut job with the maximum weight in my logitech g5

Seems many people think quiet means little to no tactile feel. These switches feel just about the same, just a little bit less resistance and much less noise

I respect the dedication but do headphones not work enough?
