News/Article How I got a free PC from Amazon
Beginning of the year I bought cyberpower PC on boxing day sale off Amazon, paid like 2000$ CAD, Week later was delivered box was pretty well damaged before I opened it so I took a bunch of photos incase it was worse then just the box,
Entire PC is glass, front, both sides, top
Front and side panel covering wires/ back of mobo both broken
Called amazon immediately, but had to make a ticket online. Took couple days for them to get back to me first offering me 20% off to keep the item, but at this point I had done some research. With how much broken glass was in the box they couldn't make me ship it back to them for it being a safety hazard so I pushed for a full refund and got it
As for the PC I basically took it completely apart and cleaned it as best I could, mostly using gravity, called up cyberpower and was able to use the RMA for the broken glass had it 2 weeks later
Been using the pc for the last year and no issues.
For my Amazon account we had good standing since the whole family uses it and we have had it for 10+ years, no issues requesting refund or returns after I got fully refunded for the PC

Definitely wouldn't have accepted 20% myself. Nice work 👍

This seems like their go-to. My firestick remote quit working shortly after 90 days. They offered me 20% off of new firestick.
Told them hell no. They then offered to refund a purchase of a new remote.

Time to order a PC and go ham on it with a hammer when it arrives.

Amazon is about to see a sudden influx of PC orders supposedly arriving with hazardously broken glass panels.

there is definitely gonna be a sudden spike in PCs "arriving" with broken glass if this blows up lol

amazon employee probably made a mistake. you got lucky. you normally only get to keep cheap items from china that are $20 or less. not a pc

No I had to get passed to a specialist team that handles high value item returns, that's why the whole process took about 2-3 weeks, but due to be broken glass they can't make me return the item and I'm fully entitled to a refund with the way the item was delived. Also the item was shipped and sold by Amazon so Amazon was legally liable for the return

are we defending the trillion dollar union busting company again? The company that puts their employees under so much time pressure the only way they can complete in time is by pissing in bottles? The company that mixes their returned inventory into their main stockpile, leading to people receiving pillaged GPUs without chips or VRAM and CPUs that had their heat sinks swapped? THAT company?

Lol when Amazon was still pretty new people were printing ps4s by social engineering the RMA system. You can still do it if you're good enough and persistent.

Sounds like fraud to me.

In what way? Item I recieved was not as described, broken glass panels had broken leg on the case from being dropped I assume,. No postal service will take a package with broken glass, box was also damaged I didn't have a safe way to ship the pc back to Amazon I'm fully entitled for refund since they can't have me ship it back I get to keep it. And I get the refund.
If I damaged the pc myself then sure.

Because you have claimed the value of the same loss from two places. That is deceptive, unless you told cyberpowerpc that you had already been refunded, and is indeed, fraud. (the intentional act of deception, lying, or trickery used to secure an unlawful gain)
Getting made whole by either place is fine. Double claiming is not.
I doubt anyone will chase you about it though.

Glad that worked out for you . It's just one of them things I wouldn't order online at all cause of this reason even just a glass case to build it urself can result in the same way
