Out of the games listed in bold. Not one of those franchises have had a hit in the last 15 years. Which is a shame. Some of my favorite games of all time. But id were being honest the same people who made those games do not work at there anymore

I mean Baldurs Gate has a massive hit!

It just, y'know...Had the advantage of not being made by bioware lmao.

1 and 2 were GOOD. just never got the amount of popularity as 3 did. but still some of my favorite games as a kid. But that was OLD bioware.. current bioware makes trash. I'm not sorry they are shutting down cause they basically shot it in the leg close to two decades ago and it's been bleeding out since. Fuck EA.

1 and 2 are genre defining games hailed as some of the best rpgs in history lmao, they absolutely did, but they're old games and people moved on.

1 & 2 were PC games at a time when PC gaming was more for enthusiasts and nerds.

They were so good they shaped the genre of western RPGs for decades to come and were - and often still are if only for historical reasons - considered as must-haves.

However, it was in a time where pc games, and video games in general simply weren't half as widespread and accepted as today. It simply wasn't physically possible to sell as many copies and have the popularity some games have today, but the cultural impact they made remains nonetheless absolutely massive.

BG2 was a legendary and widely heralded game, it was just 26 years ago.

My dude they made 1&2. Did you think the 3 in BG 3 was for kicks?

Many people legitimately don't even know BG1 and 2 even exists. They just ignore the 3.

Some people don't even know what a CRPG is, or even what an RPG is before BG3. They don't know that it's a sequel or even what DnD even is.

I saw a comment on YouTube today praising the class system and leveling of BG3 as revolutionary.

Had the advantage of not being made by bioware lmao.

u might be onto something, but instead of asking larian to revive dragon age we might hope some new upcoming EU studio to do it, keep it away from LA

BG3 sure was and it also killed every fantasy RPG that came after it for the next like 2 years.

Definitely! I know some folks on their fourth or fifth playthrough (college students). They'd much rather revisit the Forgotten Realms with high quality than waste time on something "new and disappointing."
