Considering how DA:4 turned out, did you really have much hope for ME:5?

a whole squad of just absolutely insufferable pieces of shit who make everything about their own issues and you literally can't even tell them you dont like them

God, can you imagine how tame and lame the renegade actions would be.

Renegade:
use the wrong pronoun

No way could you punch the reporter

There wasn't a story to tell anyway.

You can't make a threat bigger than the reapers.

Mass Effect: Spectre

Without the Mass Effect Relays, transit between systems is much slower, big carrier ships ferry hundreds of small ships like pre-rail caravans - as smaller ships take thousands of jumps to cross the void, and are easy prey for pirates.

You are a Spectre in the Terminus Systems, where a new threat is brewing. Alliance command does what they can to keep the peace, but their ships take weeks to traverse their patrol routes, the Batarians are preparing for a new war, and an enigmatic new movement demands freedom from the systems alliance.

The game is a sci-fi roleplaying action game with old west Marshal vibes, central governance is tepid, civilization comes every month with the caravan

IDK i spent like 2 minutes thinking about it

The only direction isn't "up"

Yeah, I've always hated the idea in media that you have to always be raising the stakes for sequels/follow-ups. Make a compelling story in an interesting world, and the stakes are merely a byproduct of the setting, not the main draw. I don't need to always fight Universe Destroying Threat #17 to enjoy a game.

Threats don't need to be galaxy-ending to be interesting or tell interesting stories. That was even the point of Dragon Age 2 and what part of the plan for DA4 was before they had to change it; setting a story in a persistent place that changed over time.

For Mass Effect obviously you do need to have some kind of space travel but you can focus it on smaller, more intimate stakes.

A me5 in today’s day and age would break my heart if it’s anything like da4

u/lsv-misophist 7h ago

Consider this a mercy

1

u/GoatCovfefe 4h ago

But we dont even know how ME4 would have turned out

1

u/Kalpazen 3h ago

Me4 is andromeda. It wasn’t that good. You can really just play any other BioWare game that was made in the last ten years to see how me5 was most likely going to be

1

u/GoatCovfefe 4h ago

I wasnt even thinking of ME5, i was still holding out hope for ME4.

Mainly because they FAFO that Andromeda sucked, so going back to numbered games made me think they saw what they did wrong and were locking in to bring a real ME game to us.

But yeah... ME4 was the announced game, not 5

Don't worry. Someone will buy the IP and sell it to everybody who wants to make a mobile or gacha game out of it. In the end you will beg for them to let it die.

2

u/NumeralJoker 5h ago

This is it.

The trilogy's recent collection is good enough on its own. The ending was initially controversial, but is more or less fine as is now. Time to let it go.

u/limpymcforskin 3h ago

I seriously doubt it. EA owns many loved IP's that they have left to rot for years.

I am still waiting for Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri 2.

1

u/Unumbotte 3h ago

Someone else might have gotten it wrong.

It's already dead, for more than a decade.

I weirdly enjoyed the hell out of ME:A. The story sucked, the writing was awful, and the animations were jank, but the gameplay was fucking solid imo.

1

u/DJPad 5h ago

I didnt even think the story was that bad.  Obviously not anywhere close to the OG trilogy, but OK.

I just found the gameplay and exploration a boring grind.

I mean, it wasn't an awful game. Just mediocre with some highlights. Still, after the OG trilogy it felt like a spin-off at best. Which, I guess, it was.

2

u/Spezalt4 7h ago

Someone competent will eventually get rights to the IP.

2

u/fishvoidy 5h ago

homie, she died in 2012.

1

u/Loch_Doun 8h ago

The only hope is they sell the rights to a studio like Larian, but it’s EA. They’d much rather bury the IP than ever consider selling it.

Wanna see how Osiris Reborn turns out, maybe Owlcat can make something comparable. But if it ends up being great I might want more Expanse games…

1

u/Vytral 5h ago

Then you should be happy this BioWare is not making a sequel. Remember dragon age veilguard was not just a bad game, it was so bad it killed all interest in its franchise

1

u/browndoodle 3h ago

Hopefully Exodus can carry the torch.

1

u/Lepelotonfromager 3h ago

Not everything needs infinite entries.

It's a solid trilogy that you can play through and enjoy for a few hundred hours.

1

u/HuntKey2603 1h ago

I don't either, but I don't want another Andromeda

1

u/Critical_Ask_4824 1h ago

It did in act 3 of mass effect 3 dont worry.

Everything else has been a fever dream

1

u/Asking35 6h ago

Did you want a They/Them Asari talking about doing Bharvs?

1

u/WithersChat 6h ago

Just like someone ended up getting the rights to the Nemesis System- oh wait no, that never happened.
