Dungeons keepers, Theme hospital/park, the command and conquers etc etc. What an era of pc gaming.

Two Point Studios is carrying the legacy of Theme Hospital/Park, but I wish there were more Dungeon Keeper successors

Your dungeon is full of yoghurt...

War for the Overworld comes really close, but it’s just not Dungeon Keeper

Look into the Dungeons series by Realmforge. I still boot up D4 every now and then.

what they did to my boy C&C is a war crime

edit: it's a browser based "MMO" p2w travesty.

And not a GPU in sight...

Have you looked into the Dungeons series? They're DK with a over world component. The first two were okay, but the last two rocked...

My first game I bought as a kid was CnC:TibSun in the box. Something like 27yrs ago. 😭😭

u/mongojob 6h ago

Oh man red alert was so dope but Tiberian sun was WILD comparatively

3

u/-brk0 6h ago

Tiberian Sun was the first collector's edition game I bought. I wish I still had the gdi pewter figure.

I remember being stoked when I found a Command and Conquer Red Alart cd at a garage sale. Shit was like 4-5 years old and it was the first game my older sister and I bonded over. Very fond memories.

I remember downloading the OG C&C demo on dads computer with dialup. It felt like eternity waiting for a few mb demo to download. Good times.

1

u/-brk0 6h ago

I played the demo on a computer at Sears. It was amazing.

u/dmsayer 9800x3d RTX4070 Space Heater 1h ago

iirc, demo was ~200mbyte and entire game on disk was ~700mbyte

First game I bought for my Saturn (that I won). I played the living shit out of the game. I still have some of the audio files from the discs. They could be played like a regular CD in a CD player. You just had to skip the first track because it was the data for the game.

I ended up having to buy c&c for the saturn twice after the disk broke, lol. Those last missions were hard.

1

u/snorkelvretervreter 3h ago

I played the crap out of Dune II which is C&C's direct ancestor

u/ReDx_Nineclaws 3h ago

2

C&C, AoE and Blizzard's strategy games, the 90's were it.

BioWare managed to make impeccable story driven RPGs, not to mention fallout 1 and 2.

Adventure games were still a thing. The 90's certainly held up for games. They may be a bit clunky and low res, but with a bit of polish just about all of those games hold up.

Game here to say this. I loved Nox back in the day.

As much at I loved the C&C/Red Alert games, unless Westwood planned on creating an RTS that out performed Starcraft or got into the MOBA space and won against DOTA and League; there's not a lot that they could have done especially with such a huge population of gamer's moving out of RTS and into MOBA's.
