No the ape doesn't have a good point because no one is pre-ordering digital games 'as if they're gonna run out'. That's not a thing that exists in the real world. They get pre-ordered because of incentives like early access, in-game items and cosmetics, in-game titles, etc.. You pre-order in exchange for things in the game that you won't get if you don't pre-order. I am not defending this practice, I am only explaining the truth.

Some of you preorder out of a subconscious need to brag like as if it is the equivalent of purchasing an actual material item.

What kind of social circle do you have where folks brag about pre-ordering a game? Ive never heard of something like this in my life.
