Same thing is happening in Arc Raiders right now.

Begged the developers into adding a safe PvE mode in an extract shooter. Defeats the entire point of an extract shooter.

It's been fine, the new update has been great.

I hated arc raiders. It’s not fun.

Core gameplay loop sucked. This comes from someone that played Tibia and was used to level loss and equipment loss.

This is such a weird take.

It is a wildly successful $40 game.

It had a wildly succesful launch and some crazy first months, but had about a 10th of the player base it had the first 2-3 months, before the pve update.

I don’t know why it’s hard to understand that a company wants to make money if they’re able to quite easily. Adding a pve mode was an easy grab to hopefully get some of that player base back.

What is an odd take is thinking that adding pve mode ruins the game.

You were implying that the game is somehow failing or that there is something wrong with a drop in players after launch.

Games don’t have to be a full time job you play forever.

It's lowest count was almost 40k concurrent players. That's perfectly healthy for an online game.
