Yeah idk why people are trying to ridicule anti cheat for coop games, do they live behind a rock? There are large amounts of people who will ruin the fun for everyone by giving them cheated resources without anyone asking them, essentially making the whole game pointless for a player immediately.

As I recall, back in the day the solution was to offer both options

Play anti-cheat if you want a protected solution, and a raw one for those that would rather not(or had gotten themselves banned from from the anti-cheat system)

I imagine because the simple solution is to drop that mission and start another.

The problem is saturation. Having to drop one game a month versus seeing one or two per day, even two back to back. It really has risen, and quickly. They had to do something before it became unmanageable.

Can make a sense if you know that is being cheated, and the game has the option to remove everything earned by cheat.

This is not the case in games like deep rock galactic, that you cannot know if someone have cheated, and someone can even give resources for you and there is nothing you can do, until you learns that is a cheat.

In helldiver's once you get matched with someone who cheats resources you will receive 999 of each currency after the mission is over and then you never have to work towards unlocking anything again. So I have no idea what you are talking about the solution is definitely not to just leave the lobby.

Lol in some games they give penalties for leaving the lobby.

I’ve got 250 hours in game and I’ve never noticed any player using cheats in any of my lobbies.

If you’re not auto completing the mission, firing a machine gun with leveler rounds, or flying tanks around the map blowing stuff up then why would I care if you can slow walk while firing the mini gun or something

They're selfish and only care about their own experience

Yeah but in my experience there were very few cheaters compared to how many people were basically fixing flaws in the game with mods.

Bugs that have been on known issues list for over 2 years… and the most requested feature, saved loadout so you can quickly and easily swap out all your gear which is slow and tedious with slow menus in game to do normally.

Less than 1% of my games had someone actually cheating, and in several of those cases, they weren’t even using mods, just exploiting a bug in the game at the time (they did fix those bugs at least)

There's a fairly trivial solution, though, that doesn't require any anti-cheats:

Serverside verification.

In most P2P games, this wouldn't be feasible...but they have a live service server as well. When the host sends post-game information about the big live service orders, it shouldn't be difficult to also send a tally of how much of X resource the players earned, and to reject an amount over a certain threshold, ideally just beyond what performant players could grind for naturally on a mission.

Flag the players who consistently end up in those lobbies, and impose harsher restrictions on them.

There has to be some intentional reason for not using the obvious and simple solution of server authority. The devs would have to be unbelievably incompetent to miss that solution.

The game is probably fundamentally designed with client authority for some dumb reason.
