When he finally settles, snuggles up and gazes lovingly into your eyes, you forget about all the torn up paper, missing socks, the barking at air, and you think of all the progress you’ve made, how far he’s come. You’re going to be a wonderful dog, Hugo my love.

Well Lilly has the beginning of another uti 😞
This is a month post surgery. We’re going to a holistic vet that has been recommended by several people in the raw feeding community. That’s this Friday. In the meantime I am supposed to be giving her prescription dog food. I do not want to give her prescription dog food.
All of my dogs have been raw fed dogs because of all of the stuff that can cause health problems. It started with Gracie. No matter how good the dry food was and she ate really good dry kibble, she was getting sick a lot. Her eyes would get filled with goop, and her stomach bothered her. When I would get her back on high quality kibble within 2 weeks she was sick.
I switched her to a raw diet with vegetables and she was very healthy and no goopy eyes, none of that. All of my dogs don’t eat chicken because of intolerances. I even went as far as to get Rufus and Gracie that expensive allergy test which did nothing for his seasonal allergies.
If you are a raw feeder, what would you suggest in this situation? I read the ingredients and it’s not great plus it’s only chicken. I don’t get it.

Everyone meet Gizmo! I’ve had this little guy for a year now. He is very friendly, smart, enjoys people and other dogs, snuggles, and is crate trained. Still hasn’t found his bark (although I’m not complaining)

This is in St. Louis. Anyone want to have an unofficial papillon hang out before the 31st?
I would love to meet more sweet little guys!

We love you Rome so much❣️ Enlarge photo 🙏 🥰

I did everything right. I vetted his breeder. We took him everywhere. But my 5 month old papillon is extremely reactive and it’s hard to take him anywhere, even on walks. He’s so in love with my husband and me, but it’s hard having a reactive puppy. We went to the veterinary behaviorist and they diagnosed him with generalized anxiety disorder, neophobia, fear-based aggression towards unfamiliar dogs and people, and situational phobia/anxiety (the vet). All of that for a 5 month old puppy. It’s devastating. We started venlafaxine and will trial trazodone. We’re also working with both a dog trainer and a secondary veterinary nurse (from the veterinary behaviorist) for behavior modification. It’s a lot of work and money. Good thing he’s so cute. We both have good days and bad days.

I was originally going to stop using reddit altogether but remembered how much fun I had connecting with other papillon people. I'm not gonna get into detail as to why I deleted my other account, but basically, people were sending me weird stuff, and I got uncomfortable. I doubt I can explain too much directly in this post but maybe in the comments.
bailey is feeling well, we haven't done a lot recently. I posted about this on my deleted account but we took bailey to the vet a couple weeks ago, maybe even a month, I can't remember. I honestly zoned out making sure bailey wasn't reacting to anything so I didn't focus on what the vet said too well, my mom was there as she is both my and bailey's main care giver😅
the vet said that there wasn't really anything they could currently do but somewhere else there was a vet that hasn't opened yet that could do surgery on bailey's leg/hip. I have super bad memory, I apologize for not answering questions on my old post bc I genuinely could not remember.

She was her usual happy self the whole time, getting cuddles from all the vet staff while I stressed out over the worlds most routine procedure 😭 No photos of her in her little recovery suit because she does NOT want to be moved at the moment.

But not with Buddy. That's ok, Buddy is the cuddly one.

I was browsing through my videos of Rome and came across this one. I thought I would share this video with you guys again to make you laugh 😂 He was so adamant about telling me he wanted a treat! 😱 I taught him "head down" when a puppy and he does it on the buttons to communicate! 😱 Turn volume on 🙏to hear the button say "treat" and me cracking up laughing! 😂

Can anyone recommend a reputable breeder—preferably in the southeastern United States? I had a papillon before, (💔) but the person I got him from is no longer breeding. I got a recommendation from her, but they haven’t responded to my messages so far, and I prefer to work with someone who comes recommended, if possible. Thank you.

Guys, make it make sense. I’ve had this little guy for years and I love him more with every passing second. He had a FOUR HOUR grooming appointment today and I spent the entire time stressing out, only for him to come out like the absolute diva he is, pulling an Elle Woods on me. “What, like it’s hard?” 😂 I always spend about $100 on new toys and treats afterwards because I want him to associate grooming with something positive. Does he already have a billion toys and treats? Yes. But I need him to hear me opening that brand-new bag of treats when we get home.
If your Papillon struggles with grooming anxiety, I really recommend budgeting for some high-quality treats afterwards (puppy training treats are great). Truffles came from a horrific situation in the Dominican Republic, where it’s my understanding that the “breeder” was breeding dogs to be used as bait dogs. He was the only one of his siblings who survived. Another little girl made it to the emergency vet after the rescue but sadly passed away. I don’t even want to imagine what those poor babies went through.
Hug your babies tight. Cherish every single moment. It genuinely devastates me to leave him for four hours, but I know he deserves proper care and pampering. We do nail trims every couple of months and the full grooming treatment twice a year. He’s home now, happy as can be, and I’m just relieved that every time I pick him up, he gets another reminder that I’m always coming back for him. ❤️

Looking to get my first dog as an adult and I’m seriously considering a papillon. The breed seems almost perfect for my situation right now — small but smart and highly trainable. I’m just looking for true opinions about their drawbacks. Just tell me the worst things about owning this breed.
One thing I’m a bit concerned about is barking. Growing up, I had three dogs, none of whom barked at all because my mom is a great trainer who trained it out of them all. Barking irritates me. Can it be trained out of papillons?

My first one I got when I was 17 and I just turned 30. Someone was rehoming her. I never thought I’d get another pap because well there expensive and I wanted to get a corgi. But she fits right in and I’m couldn’t be happier.

cats and dogs that have become teenagers get to celebrate 'birthday' every half year, and if they are over 15 it's every quarter. So today we celebrate that Kjelle has been on this earth 15 years and 9 months.
As you with senior dogs know there are good days and some that are more for recuperation. Today was one of the better ones with exploration in the forest with Ture, and getting sniffed by a horse.
