I know this is only a Sports Illustrated article, but I am speculating myself and I dunno how I feel about this.
On paper with any other team and any other RB, this trade would make sense. 29 year old RB just over his prime but still very good, who is on a team needing a mini rebuild, and probably looking to shed his contract.
He probably is the cheapeat quality RB to trade for because of that contract and his age.
Other options discussed in the article are:
Jonathan Taylor, bit I feel the Colts really value him and want to resign him. Also think it would take a massive overpay to land him.
James Conner: not happening. We just tried out and cut a RB coming off major injury, why trade for another?
Tony Pollard: this is a possible cheap option. But also very underwhelming. Not sure it makes us better.
My favorite options would be:
Any RB from the Chargers. Really like Hampton/Mitchell/Vidal. Also their OL stinks and might take JMS or another backup OL in return instead of straight draft compensation. Mitchell played for Harbaugh in Baltimore and I would have him as the most likely candidate right now.
Obviously want to hear some thoughts on Barkley and everyone else.
