The annoying thing about it is, I can't tell if it's bots or redditors being redditors.

It's so weird to see the bots say the same shit verbatim in the top two comments.

It makes me sad that it's impossible to tell the difference now.

u/Character_Maybeh_ 1d ago
There isn’t much of a difference. Both post low effort shit in order to farm karma. Bots don’t send Reddit cares reports when you call them out though.

All these AIs were trained on huge amounts of reddit posts, reddit was always extremely hive-mindy but at least shit evolved and changed. Now that it's all fucking AI it's just going to be AI consuming its own shit endlessly until it's all shit.

Unless it’s changed since you saw it, there is a key difference between the two comments. I’m pretty sure that at least the second one is a human.

Been watching his journey on Instagram from the day he created his account so for a hot ass minute now and this is like his third major try to get sober since Dunn and I think he has it in the bag. He started to get serious before the 2nd to last Jackass movie but slipped up and got wasted on booze. I think them not including him because sobriety was a condition of his contract was a huge wake up call. He's been doing a lot of press events and hanging out with his fans and spending more time with his family. It's good to see his parents in good health and to see Bam finally happy again.
The only drama I know of is his baby mama is nuts and keeps trying to do things to ruin him or get more money from him. He probably shouldn't talk to his audience about it but he does and I'm all ears for that tea when he does even though he probably shouldn't, lol. To be fair she posts shit all the time talking about being his baby mama so fair game I guess

Sobriety is never "in the bag"

We can deduce what they mean without being this anal about it. They werent saying it with the problematic implication youre suggesting it had. I get what you mean tho
→ More replies (6)10
u/dubblebubbleprawns 23h ago
I didn't get a problematic implication, just an implication that one should never consider an alcoholic or addict "cured" or consider sobriety as "in the bag"
3
u/teleprax 13h ago
Idk, i think the implication that it's not something that someone can truly move past is also problematic. One thing that kept me addicted to alcohol for so long was the widespread belief that cessation would require constant maintanece and that I'd have to constantly go to AA meetings which always made me want to drink more. I consider willpower to be one of my weakest traits so relying on it was hopeless.
Bam may not be one of those people that can move past it like I did, but i always like putting it out there that its possible to do because the idea that it's not kept me from doing anything about it much longer than it should have.
For anyone wondering how, the only thing I can say concretely is that I had to be physically removed from opportunities to drink for ~8 weeks. At the 6 week point i felt like it was enough but the outpatient rehab doesn't let you make that call. I also already had a hobby I was passionate about (homelab-ish computer shit), and I now just occupy myself with this nearly infinite time sink and have a job doing it too.

u/Worldly_Horse_2310 23h ago
I understand the intended point. But I think it's clear from the rest of their message that this person was saying "I'm confident this time could be different" and not "there's nothing to worry about anymore, bam is cured"

u/Sans-valeur 1d ago
I mean you can either get sober and stay sober or you can’t. And one way of phrasing “stay sober” is “in the bag”. Doesn’t mean it’s easy, just that they’re actually doing it.

Well the National Football League has no idea why it’s mentioned.
But anyway, I’d say it’s Bam’s age and history. Dude has battled a lot of health issues, with a lot of it stemming from his long-time alcohol and drug abuse, and obesity. There were a lot of people who believed Bam would be dead by now, and at some points in his life he was knocking on the door. The fact that he’s alive, looking relatively good, and can still move like this is nothing short of amazing.
