mold Someone left their banana in the fridge at work. Not sure how long it's been in there.

At one point, say 5 years ago, everyone became an accomplice. I could not ignore that thing, no matter how many times it telepathically tells me it comes in peace. Not on my fridge, ew

I honestly thought this was corn smut at first glance.

And it is growing on the fruit of a monocot just like corn smut.
Coincidence?
Absolutely.
Fascinating.

This may be the first thing ever put into that fridge. You should put it back, out of respect.

like our parents did, and their parents before them. why break with tradition at this point?

Soon our children will come to learn of the responsibilities for caretaking of the fridge banana.

You should have left it a little longer than put it in a more prominent place for a Halloween decoration. ;)

Give it a bit more time and that Banana will begin to walk out of the fridge on its own

kind of random story - in seventh grade science class we had to do a demonstration presentation and I did how to make Jello ‘cause it seemed really fun and easy. well all the Jello didn’t get eaten by my classmates and I just threw it in one of the empty lockers and went to my next class. Somehow I ended up completely forgetting about it for a while. Later in the school year I remembered it was in there and after school one day I snuck to clean it up and it was so nasty - like so much growing off of it and it was growing off the top and sides of the locker and it stunk so badly - I couldn’t believe no one had noticed from the smell. I was gagging scooping it out of there and it was awful but I was just so thrilled when I got rid of it all and didn’t get in trouble for it

Reminds me of when the school brought in a drug dog and got a hit on a kid's locker. They opened it up, and like 100+ bottles and cans fell out. They searched every thing but found no drugs.

I save bananas in the fridge for weeks to months to make banana bread, never have I even got close to this state.
So i'd say give Newton a call, maybe he is missing some fruit.

By the look of it, I'd say it's been sitting there for at least 15 minutes.

The green stuff? Looks like spinach? Was that in the fridge too and became symbiotic with the banana?
