The Everforger and trigger confusion

Please help me understand how different abilities or effects (static abilities and replacement effects) interact with the triggered ability on [[The Everforger]].

I understand the rules distinction between "Do this only once each turn" and "this triggers only once each/per turn." I know, technically, I CAN copy the triggered ability; that the copy of the ability would go on the stack, resolve first, and then the original trigger would not resolve when it checks if it's "been done" this turn.

My confusion here is with how Everforger's "Do this only once each turn" restriction is affected by a replacement effect as in [[Twinning Staff]].

For example, if I have Everforger and only one Twinning Staff on the battlefield, and I cast an [[Urza's Incubator]], (with the obvious caveat that i haven't resolved Everforger's triggered ability yet that turn), do I get 1 copy of Urza's Incubator or 2 copies?

If I use Everforger to create a copy of the Twinning Staff, which says "instead copy it that many times, plus an additional time," will later resolved triggers of Everforger be affected by the multiple replacement effects from distinct sources? I.e. do copies of Twinning Staff stack?

If I copy a spell with a paid Kicker cost like [[Skyclave Relic]], does the copy get the Kicker bonus too?

Would a Squad cost like on [[Sicarian Infiltrator]] follow the same rules as a copied Kicker spell?

Lastly, when I copy Urza's Incubator, at what point do I declare the "choice" for the Incubators? Would I be able to declare different choices for the copy (i.e. choose Robots on the copy, then choose Constructs on the original)? Is the answer to this question different for additional copies produced via Twinning Staff's replacement effect?

Thanks in advance for any clarity y'all can provide. I'm really excited about the possibilities I can explore with Everforger and I wanna make certain I understand these interactions before i build it. I don't wanna be the girl dragging other players through Comprehensive Rules hell mid-game.

Emrakul, the World Anew and ownership

• Upvotes

Fairly new to Magic and am wondering how Emrakul, the World Anew's leaves trigger works with someone else controlling my owned card. If I Dack Fayden, Helping Hand (hypothetically of course) her to someone else, would they lose all of their permanents as they control her or would I because she is put into my graveyard? Gut instinct with ruling says they do because she leaves on THEIR battlefield, but I just want to make sure before I (hypothetically) run it in my pod.

Helbrute and effects that care about cards leaving graveyards

• Upvotes

If I cast helbrute from my graveyard using its own ability, which exiles another card from my graveyard as a cost, how many times does it trigger abilities that trigger when one or more cards leave the graveyard. Since it’s a part of the cost, do they leave at the same time, or will they see both cards leave separately?

Niko, Light of Hope and Face-Down Creatures

Hey, I’ve been poking around the rules and that and I can’t seem to find the correct rulings so I would greatly appreciate the help.

Let’s say I’m running a card like [[Niko, Light of Hope]] and I manifest a card. When I exile that manifested creature, what happens? I assume the shards copy the face-up side of the card.

If that is the case, I have a few extra scenarios I wanted to get sanity checked:

Scenario 1: the manifested card is a creature
I assume since the card is exiled it would turn face up after being exiled and Niko would copy the creature underneath, not the manifest

Scenario 2: the manifested card is a permanent
The shards still become copies of the card exiled and are bound by the rules of said permanent (i.e if it’s an aura then they all go to the graveyard)

Scenario 3: the manifested card is an instant or sorcery
I believe what would happen is one of two cases, one the effect fizzles because instants and sorceries can’t be permanents or all shards go to the graveyard because of the can’t be permanents situation.

Thank you in advance!!

Strixhaven Stadium

Hello

I am trying to go wide with strixhaven Stadium

I want to be able to cause each opponent to lose the game

Does this mean I need to hit with at least 30 creatures, and have at least one creature hit each opponent?

What I'm asking is will strixhaven Stadiums ability trigger for each time a creature connects, and after 10 counters, you can remove the counters, but there are still X number of triggers on the stack to keep adding counters even after an opponent has been eliminated?

Q, Stacking the Deck Rulings

I have a couple of questions regarding [[Q, Stacking the Deck]]'s rulings. If there are any other cards similar whose rulings I could look at that would be helpful.

Firstly, when you "Create a Copy of this card" Where exactly does the copy go? Presumably not on the stack because you haven't paid for casting it yet. In that case do you still get cost reductions from cards like [[Advanced Reconstruction]]?

Any other additional ruling questions you guys have surrounding this card please post here I'd like to learn as much as possible!

1/1 tokens enter, creatures get +2/+2, how many card am i drawing, if any?

[[Garruk's Packleader]] / [[Jacked Rabbit]] with 3 +1/+1 counters / and [[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]] on board. I attack with rabbit, 6 1/1 rabbits enter but are they 3/3 from Norn and trigger Packleader? I assume not but wanted to check.

Aboleth Spawn & Abdel Adrian

Hello! I had a (hopefully) quick question about the way that Aboleth Spawn works with ETBs that reference themselves, like Abdel Adrian, Gorion’s Ward or ‘this creature’ like All-Fates Stalker.

Can it exile? If so, does the exiled card remain exiled until Abdel Adrian leaves, or until Aboleth Spawn leaves?

Finally, if Abdel Adrian is put into play with Dack Fayden, Helping Hand’s ability, if you are allowed to exile, does ‘other permanents’ restrict you from exiling Abdel Adrian, Aboleth Spawn, or is there no restriction?

TLDR: do I understand how Aboleth Spawn interacts with Dack Fayden loops? No. Am I considering adding it to my Kinnan list anyway bc it makes me laugh? Absolutely. How does that stop boneweaver giant loops? It probably doesn’t.

Thank you so much!

Q, Thieve's Auction and Commanders

Here's my question, if I cast Thieve's Auction and pick an opponent's commander do I get to keep it?

I know that the opponent wouldn't be able to return it to the Command Zone because the Exile effect and the picking take place during the duration of the spell. However, since Thieve's Auction specifically Exiles then returns whatever you choose to the battlefield under YOUR control, does it act similarly to Act of Treason and Cloudshift?

Do the exiled cards "forget" their previous states including their owners?

And, since it's returned specifically to your control are you it's "new owner"?

If so, if it were to be destroyed would it go to my graveyard or the original owner? Same question if it were to be exiled?

The way it plays out in my head is, it's "my" card now and goes to my zones for the remainder of the game since it "forgets" it's original owner.

Can I create two walls?

If I have [[Gray and Adira, Forever Joined]] with [[Invisible Woman]], and I cast a noncreature spell before combat, when I go to combat, if I create a copy of Invisible woman, can that Invisible womans trigger happen before the original Invisible womans trigger begins and create two walls?

If a 1/1 has Grafted Wargear equipped and I move the grafted wargear to another creature, is that creature a 1/1 or 4/3 when it dies?

If I copy 'Helga, Skittish Seer', does the original Helga get two +1's or does they both get a single +1?

If I copy my [[Helga, Skittish Seer]] with [[Chameleon, Master of Disguise]] does the original get two +1 counters on it?

The text says "...and put a +1 counter on Helga, Skittish Seer", so my understanding is that the text is literal and since Chameleon would have the same text, them his +1 counter production would also go onto the original Helga.

My buddy said that the text just kinda means "put a +1 counter on this card" and that both Helga and Chameleon would get a single +1 counter.

Is there time to remove hexproof before choosing triggered ability targets at the start of my upkeep?

If I control [[Chevill, Bane of Monsters]] and [[Arcane Lighthouse]] at the start of my turn, do I have time to activate Arcane Lighthouse in order to target an opponent’s creature with Chevill’s bounty counter?

My initial thought was no, since targeting happens when something is placed on the stack (I’m pretty sure) but I swear remembering that some abilities are a two step process where targeting only happens once a choice/condition is checked. I’m not sure if this is such a case.

Something like [[Nowhere to Run]] might be a better option if the above does not work.

Attempting to Remove a Creature Type from Changeling

I am trying to figure out a way to break the new [[Starfleet Academy]] by finding a way to remove Borg from a Changeling. If I have an [[Imposter of the Sixth Pride]] and cast something like [[New Blood]] or [[Artificial Evolution]], would I be able to name "Borg" to remove it? Would Changeling state it regains Borg? Or because there is no text that says "Borg," it doesn't change anything?

Is there no way to make a token copy of Primeval Spawn touch the battlefield?

[[Primal Spawn]] has the text instead on etb so it never even touches the battle field right? but tokens like don't exist outside of the battlefield so does making a token with anything that say target thing make token copy, just litteraly do nothing?

I put it in my [[Ashling, the limitless]] deck that makes all creature elementals but I realize I would only get the one etb and leave for evoking it and nothing else right?

Zur the Enchanter Timing

I read here that when Zur attacks he "fetches" an enchantment in the declare attackers step. An aura that gives double strike would clearly apply to that combat, but vigilance wouldn't.

508.1f The active player taps the chosen creatures. Tapping a creature when it’s declared as an attacker isn’t a cost; attacking simply causes creatures to become tapped.
508.1m [Then a few items later...] Any abilities that trigger on attackers being declared trigger.

So he'll already be tapped when his fetch ability puts the vigilance aura on him (or someone).

BUT what about an aura that grants a "Whenever this creature attacks" ability? Since all of this is happening during the declare attackers step wouldn't that mean (e.g.) Grasp of the Hieromancer would allow him to tap a creature in the same attack that he fetches it? It reads:

Enchanted creature gets +1/+1 and has "Whenever this creature attacks, tap target creature defending player controls.

How does this stack resolve

I have Denzilore fatehold, gossips talent, and proctor of potential all on the field. If I cast Saheeli, Consul of Oversight, what happens. What I think will happen goes as follows

  1. Saheeli enters triggered gossip and proctor
  2. Either gossips or proctors trigger resolves first(whichever I pick I think)
  3. Saheelis Thopter ability and denzilores +1/+1 counter ability go on the stack, and I can choose Saheelis to resolve first
  4. The thopter is created triggering both proctor and gossip again
  5. All of Denzilores triggers finally resolve leaving me with 1 thopter and 4 +1/+1 counters on all of my creatures

Does Q give a perpetual ability in paper?

I was looking at [[Q, Stacking the Deck]] and realized that I think he gives the ability to the card forever, so if you find a way to take the card out of exile and then exile it again, you can still do the Q thing with it

> That nonland card gains "Exile a card from your hand: Create a copy of this card. You may cast the copy. Activate only during your turn and only if this card is exiled."

If this is the case, what happens if that card is moved into a hidden zone? Especially in a non-singleton format?

Am I just misunderstanding how this works? If not, is this likely to be changed?

Beam Me Up + Yixlid Jailer

https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/feature/star-trek-mechanics

I control [[Yixlid Jailer]] and there is a [[Open Communications]] in my graveyard.

Can I cast Open Communications with Beam Me Up returning my jailer?

It's like [[Ixalan's Binding]] + [[Squee, the Immortal]] issue,

I guess no, it's too late for Open Communications regain Beam Me Up.

Railway Brawler question

Hey all, Im not fully sure on the interaction between Railway Brawler and anthem effects. My opponent is playing The Astounding Ant-Man and has a Banner of Kinship, naming ants, which has 7 counters on it, giving his ants a passive +7/+7. When he uses Ant-Man’s ability to create the ants, will Railway Brawler see the ants as 8/8s or as 1/1s? My understanding is that it would see 8/8 and make them 16/16s, but I could see it either way and I’m struggling to find a clear answer

Hashaton Weird Interaction

So I was playing a game and came across an interaction that I don't think works. My opponent had [[hashaton, scarab's fist]] and cast [[cabal therapy]] with flashback sacrificing hashaton targeting themselves and discarding a creature, but said they still got the hashaton trigger because of the timing of when they cast the spell, but I don't think that works because hashaton isn't on the battlefield to see the discard, but now I'm more curious. Any thoughts on who was right?

Absorbing Man & Spacecraft

Hey All,

I wanted to clarify how Absorbing Man works with Spacecraft.

Say Absorbing Man has no charge counters and I have him become a copy of Sledge-Class Seedship. I then station Absorbing Man up to 7+ Charge counters; does he now Gain Flying, become a 4/5, and the Triggered ability? I assume He would gain Flying, and The triggered ability, but not become a 4/5, as he becomes a '4/4' based on how his ability reads.

I assume the following turn, when he again becomes a copy of Sledge-Class Seedship there is no difference? He has 7 charge counters, therefore gains the abilities but remains a 4/4?

Finally, Uthros Research Craft has a 12+ ability, which says "This Spacecraft gets +1/+0 for each artifact you control" - Say I have 4 artifacts, would Absorbing Man be a 8/4 or a 4/4?

Thanks!
