I have IBS and therefore have to severly limit my diet. Mind you half the stuff on this list is food I really enjoy eating, or is virtually included in everything 🙃 the universe said you WILL eat that boiled chicken and rice and you WILL LIKE IT

This is my wife's attitude. She mostly follows the guidelines but allows herself some "cheating" meals or snacks knowing full well the consequences.

It is always a risk/ benefit analysis. Sometimes the ice cream is worth it.
