I'm slightly vexed Taxi driver wearing noise cancelling headphones while driving in the city

Post image

Look I’m PMSing so I’m admittedly in a very nit picky time of my life. But. Don’t love weaving in and out of traffic in a major city while the taxi driver has noice cancelling headphones on. The sound is loud enough I can hear whatever (moderately funny) comedy show he’s listening to in the backseat. This is ill advised, yes?

ETA thanks to everyone who taught me about transparent mode today :)

ETA2 : Okay, I’m the asshole, comments have shown me there’s lots that could be going on with the driver to make him need to use these and there’s way he could do so safely. Mea culpa. That’ll teach me to knee jerk react.

And you know this guy doesn't have a disability either?

And yes, comparing noise cancelling headphones, something that literally cancels as much outside noise as possible, is as close as people with full hearing will get in their daily lives to deafness.

It's pretty common sense to make that comparispn, but you can take it even further. Put in some industrial foam earplugs and shooting ear muffs.

Congratulations, you are now experiencing deafness.

"But how dare you compare that to a disability!!!!".

Stop being so soft. It's embarrassing. People have made observations like this since the dawn of man to explain and show symptoms of disabilities.

No the point is someone who lives their whole lives deaf learns how to … someone in noise cancelling headphones won’t because they … don’t live in silence 24/7 … that’s a skill you don’t just get to be like well put on my earbuds, still got eyes weeeeee

Deaf people think they’re like daredevil lol.

“No, only we can do things without hearing! Nobody else has the elevated senses we do!”
