The floor is sticky Really wanted a milkshake. Blender broke. This was my only option.

I make milkshakes with a fork for my kids. I have never owned a blender

Yep. Learned this as a young kid - parents never wanted to get out the blender but they'd let me have ice cream and milk in a cup.

Yep. That’s how we made them when I was a kid. Ice cream and a little bit of milk in a big cup and use a fork to mash it all up. Then add whatever flavouring you want.

I used to just mash and swirl the shit out of my ice cream until it was smooth lmao

I was about to say this, when I was younger I’d make my milkshakes with a fork and they were great.

Never owned a blender? Color me surprised

I'm pretty poor lol
Also just never really had a use for one

You can get ‘em pretty damn cheap. In addition to milkshakes, there’s smoothies, soup purees, certain sauces and salsas, etc. It’s a pretty useful tool, but not essential

u/kinglefart 23h ago
They’re not a necessity when you’re poor.
-3
u/dancesquared 23h ago
That’s what I said at the end…they’re not essential.

Smoothies with frozen veggies/fruit/whatever were essential when I was super poor 😂 and a $9 blender

You truly don’t need a machine to make a milk shake. That’s just Big Blender trying to take your money.

u/DaKrazie1 23h ago
Same thing with Big Toaster. If you got the time and energy, you can do just as good of a job as a nice toaster.

Huh?

u/DaKrazie1 23h ago
???
Heat + bread = Toast.
You don't need a toaster to make toast just like you don't technically need a blender to blend. Which is obviously silly. Nobody would manually toast their bread willingly.

Why didn’t you put it in a cup? cup broke too?

Mixing bowl is huge and has no pour spout. Tried a cup first and it mostly ended up on the counter.

The other option is to do it the oldschool manual way, your arm might hurt after tho.

It works. Milkshakes are made of ice cream, and people can make ice cream with KitchenAid mixers, so it works out.

In 2007 I bought one of these, actually this exact color, for my ex wife.
It was around $300, which feels like it would be about $500-600 nowadays.
The $300 doesn’t include accessories.
How much is one of these New go for now??

Same price, cheaper quality. I bought a red one around that same time also for $125 with an amazing Black Friday deal. Use it weekly. New ones don't hold up that well at all.

Still like $300 for cheaper ones, up to like $600 for big ones. We have some at work that are huge, im sure those are thousands.
My wife found one of fb marketplace for $100 3-4 years ago and it works great

It’s still around the $300 mark. And they managed to do that because they have reduced what comes in the package. And the reality is, it is the exact same product that has been made for decades so all of the machinery that makes it has been paid off a long time ago.
But usually the $300 is treated like a sale price so that stores can trick you to coming into their store and buy a bunch of other stuff.
We have a Canadian Tire up in Canada and they use this trick every Christmas, every Mother’s Day, every spring,
And some people say that they make them cheaper now, which is partially true
A couple of parts have been switched from metal to plastic - but if they do ever break, you can go to any appliance player place, and they can fix them very cheaply and they swap out the plastic part for the regular metal one
There’s a guy on YouTube that will preemptively upgrade the parts on your new KitchenAid for $30

Got one from ALDI for only £35 a few weeks ago, works amazingly.

A KitchenAid??

u/HovisTMM 14h ago
Oh no, I just meant a big stand mixer. Didn't even occur to me to look at the specific brand.

I would have never even considered this route, thank you for a very good laugh. I admire your thought process and out of the box problem solving.

This kind of thing is only mildly infuriating if you have nothing else in life and are completely stupid.
