I saw a ducky once Friend refusing free kickball because of the AI flyer š
Would he rather every event cost money so we can pay someone on fiver $30 to make one? Is he ok with a flyer designed over seas or does it need to be local only? Should I even host a free event unless I have the money to pay designers?
Why even throw free events if event planners are expected to pay for everything out of their own pocket? Free = attendees donāt cover costs.
Should we only wait for wealthy do to free community events so they can pay for everything to be hand done? Because honestly, thatās exactly whatās wrong with non profit tax classifications today.
Edit: I did not make this flyer.

It's eating itself. The more of these flyers that are created and uploaded to the internet, the more AI is going to find them as something to base another AI created flyer on.

Itās not that hard to put together a flyer in Canva or another free service without using AI and it still be free. Go outside with your phone camera and take some photos of a ball. This is such a cop out it doesnāt have to cost money to not use AI.

You do realize that people have been making flyers for free without the use of AI for decades, right? Like, most flyers you see on the street weren't made by either AI or graphic designers - just people using basic programs on their computer like Microsoft Word/Powerpoint, or free tools like Canva.

I volunteer at a non profit 100% volunteer-run bike shop. The shop has no owner and is completely run by random folks who use their free time to help people repair their bikes, for a "pay what you can" donation system.
I spent my weekend (for FREE!! š±š±) last week screwing around in Procreate to pretty up the business hours poster. I'm not a designer at all, I just spent some time googling for references to draw and fun fonts. Prior to that, someone else (ALSO for free) made one with MS Paint, and before them, sharpies. Others have paid actual money to build folding signs, designed and printed stickers, etc.
OP is acting like the ordeal of spending some thought and a few hours of time to organize a fun thing for their community is like asking them to be an unpaid exploited servant. Free doesn't mean you don't have to try bro, your community should be worth some effort

100%. I'm a designer and now I get calls from people essentially checking my opinion to confirm that their AI design is sufficient enough to avoid paying for a real designer. It's pretty defeating. I was all for giving free advice to smaller clients who put in the effort to do something themselves. Now I won't even speak to anyone without charging them, which means they don't want to speak with me either.

Iāve told the HR and activities group at work to not expect me at events with an AI poster as the only notification.
Making an event poster takes about ten minutes of undivided attention and a word document. Thatās the point youāre missing. You donāt need a āsuper fun, colorful, busyā promo with so much going on itās difficult to read the information. You donāt need to pay up the nose for a struggling artist to design a poster for a one off event (although they would appreciate it)
If a human canāt put in the effort to make a poster or an email that invites me to an event, I canāt put in the effort to come. Plain and simple.
