Help Is this really Microsoft?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello, so I recently had my account hacked and stolen, password changed and everything, so I filled out the account recovery form, and I'm really really really sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but is this a real email from Microsoft or another scam? After my account got stolen I've been extra cautious and I really don't trust anything anymore? If this email is real is this a good sign?

I want the name of the developer. Microsoft Authenticator loop

I see lots of folks have had the same loop issue with the Microsoft Authenticator app, and now I'm in it too. I want to know if this was designed with the intent of being as impossible as possible.

Here's what's happening: I'm logged into the app. I go to connect my work account login, and it tells me to download the app. I'm already there. It's downloaded. I'm inside it. I hit cancel and it dumps me right back at the "Add a work, school, etc." page. Rinse, repeat.

Did MS beta test this at all, or did they just drop this mess on the world because some child developer told them it worked and was a great new security tool?

I would love to have the email of whoever signed off on this. I'd like to tell them what I think, ideally face to face, but I'm in Washington DC and I'm guessing Redmond isn't dropping by.

Has anyone actually gotten out of this loop? Any fix that worked, whether it's clearing the app cache, reinstalling, a different sign-in route, or something your IT department had to do on the backend? I'll take any workaround at this point.

My Microsoft/Minecraft account got hacked and primary alias changed — automated recovery forms keep failing

My Microsoft account (which holds my Minecraft Java & Bedrock licenses) got hacked, and the hacker changed my original Gmail to a disposable domain email.

Later, I tried securing my second account with a password change and 2FA via Authenticator. However, the next morning I received a security alert stating my passkey was removed and new security details were added. When I attempt to log in now, it says the account does not exist because the primary alias was completely changed.

I have submitted the Microsoft Account Recovery Form multiple times, but every attempt gets automatically denied because the system cannot locate the account under my original email address due to the alias modification.

Has anyone who experienced a primary alias hijack successfully escalated this to a live Microsoft or Xbox support engineer for manual verification using original purchase receipts, billing info, and creation location? Any advice on getting past the automated recovery loop would be greatly appreciated.

Be careful of vulnerability if you use MS Phone Link

If you use Microsoft Phone Link you might like to consider what might happen if your computer is lost or stolen.

It is kind of convenient that SMS messages are are displayed in a popup when they arrive or are readable in the app, you don't have to go find your phone.

So if your computer is lost or stolen and you try to change a password, if a 2FA SMS verification code is sent to your phone, guess who else can read it.

They can also read your entire SMS history, view all your photos, open apps and make and receive calls, before you even realise your computer is missing...what could possibly go wrong.

If you do use Phone Link and you lose your computer, be sure to immediately disable Link to Phone on your phone.

Imagine being hacked (xbox account) and they don't do nothing AND remove your post when you want to talk about it for support.

Hey.. my Xbox account got hacked recently. (3 weeks ago) I've filled out forms, send proof taht this account was mine.. and xbox is doing nothing? microsoft is doing nothing? Can't speak to a real human being, the AI chatbot that they're both using isn't really being helpful.

Want to know what I'm stuck with?

My xbox account got hacked, the hacker completely deleted my microsoft account. so whenever I try to sign it for recovery option since it's the ONLY email I have.. what do I get?:

""We couldn't find a Microsoft account. Try entering your details again, or create an account.""

So I'm out of option.. did I put a recovery code? of course not.. I created this xbox account like.. YEARS ago when I was still a dumb ass teenager.

rant [Discussion] Xbox leads PlayStation in active players Globally. In the US it's even worse... and nobody's catching on.

[Monthly PlayStation users link](https://tech-insider.org/playstation-125-million-users-ps5-sales-2026/)

[Monthly Xbox (consoles only) users link](https://www.demandsage.com/xbox-statistics/)

With both companies being publicly owned they have chosen to no longer divulge their own CCU numbers. However after going through both my PS5 and Series X scanning multiple of the same titles on both the organic way, I have come to my conclusion. There are more daily online players and users in the world and especially in the US on Xbox consoles than there are on PlayStation consoles. I have obviously chosen not to include mobile streaming or PC users that technically also fall into the greater Xbox ecosystem. Apparently that number around 500 million which is grotesque and warps reality. I don’t think that’s fair to this specific statistic. To this specific purpose. I love both platforms but after the past few months it is clear that the two companies are now heading in quite opposite directions. That fact is a significant concern for Sony as almost 40% of their total revenue comes from PlayStation alone. Microsoft? Just under 7% which makes sense why Sony is no longer willing to spend money making discs that few consumers buy and why Microsoft is willing to lose a significant amount of potential profit by sticking with the disc drive, and giving away 3-4 console exclusives per year as part of a $22 a month subscription service rather than demand every game be a one time purchase. You toss in the Bethesda games, Ubisoft games, Activision games, and EA games it all makes sense for consumers to subscribe. Especially after the good PR and dropping the price per month. Moving forward they are deciding to bank on the probability that one day years from now, everyone that games will prefer to have a game pass subscription than not because streaming games will be the norm. Since Microsoft is going to more than likely take over the gaming share once game streaming consumes the console market. There’s less and less reasoning for buying the PS6 when it’s released. Another thing to add is Microsoft makes just over 4x the total revenue in general that Sony does per year across all their divisions so it is safe to say that a recent 36% drop in monthly users hurts Sony in ways most of us haven’t even entertained. Maybe Sony shouldn’t have made those strict statements regarding licensing to own the right to play their games. It’s one thing to have it in the contract. It’s another thing to tell your customers to their faces that you do not need them when you do and that you are able to take away any game at any time even if you can. For all the marketing nerds, that was quite an interesting strategy we all witnessed wasn’t it.

The point is the question of who has the most players per day was just something I had bothering me today so I decided to do some research. Most major titles have more players playing them on Xbox per day than they do on PlayStation. We all know how player counts can affect our experiences playing some of our favorite games ( I am talking about you RD2) and I don’t want to invest in a console that has less players playing on it in my state or country. This isn’t Last Man on Earth. Sometimes I want to be social. Btw if I was a betting man which I’m not I would tell you that come holiday 2028 or 2029 the next gen console with the most sold will inevitably be the one created in Redmond, Washington. Not in Tokyo, Japan. Starting a whole new cycle of competition between these two juggernauts. I hope you all are here for that. Consumers win when competition is high in America. I’m always down to see it stay that way.

rant I kinda still hate Windows 11. Because that OS downright despicable

But Windows 8.1 and 7 XP Vista and 2000 was better value alternatives and good.
Windows 11 was literally using AI because of copilot is being knock off/rip off to Cortana assistant. This is quite frustrating thing is. while Microsoft give people to upgrade to Windows 11 to Windows 10 computer/PC users while it’s ending support back in October 2025 to embarrass users to use a free upgrade being a rhetorical question system upgrade rather then for a great features to microslop. I will never install windows 11 again being a rhetorical most hated and despicable os

You are absolutely buffons.

There are like about core 1000 core features on windows. You have hundred of thousands of employees. You could asign 100 person on each core feature to make sure it's never doing random crap like that.

"Geez I wonder why everyone leaving for Apple and Linux"

No fucking wonder. It's infuriating how bad you are at keeping things not broken.

God fucking damnit this is annoying. Time to boot up the registry. AGAIN. And fix the shit you can't keep straight

And no I'm not asking for tech support. This is not a tech support post. I know how to fix this crap

Simply because it happens every 3 months after you drop an update !

Stop Microsoft from adding ads to Xbox games

Thumbnail
change.org
27 Upvotes

Microsoft is reportedly planning to add ads directly into Xbox games. Let that sink in for a moment.

For a lot of us, gaming is the one place where we can actually escape the constant ads and commercialism. You load up a game to get lost in a story, test your skills, or just decompress—not to get interrupted by corporate sponsors. If ads start popping up mid-gameplay, that whole experience falls apart.

I started a petition to push back on this. The gaming industry is thriving (worth over $150 billion globally), and there are plenty of ways for companies to make money without breaking immersion—cosmetics, battle passes, DLC that actually adds value. Ads in games just feel like greed disguised as "monetization."

Has anyone else noticed how ads are creeping into everything we used to have to ourselves? Curious if this bothers you as much as it bothers me. If it does, consider signing and sharing the petition. It only takes a minute, and it sends a real message that we care about keeping games the way they should be.

Microsoft Took My Money (this got removed from r/microsoft for being a "support post" even though it f###ing isn't.) Satya Nadella, why do you hate me? do you enjoy making your customers miserable? I can't use my newly shipped Xbox because Microsoft locked my account and blocked recovery.

I just want to express how unfathomably disappointed I am with Microsoft since they make it completely impossible to actually contact them. I have been a customer for over 6 years. Now all of a sudden I get essentially banned because I log in in a different location on a different device, I tried every different log in method and none worked. So cool having a 300 dollar paperweight because Microsoft doesn't know the difference between a hacker and the literal owner of the account. Satya Nadella should be ashamed.
