From what I've learned so far about tipping culture in the US I wouldn't be surprised, but my knowledge about it is only second hand. Thanks for some local insight.
Yeah it definitely could be regional. The United States is huge and different states and even different regions WITHIN states will have different cultures on how and when to tip in any given establishment type.
