DISCUSSION For all Mass Effect fans

Given the sad news we received today I wanted to do something that maybe will cheer us up a bit.

Depending on which ending you got at the end of Mass Effect 3 where would your Shepard be after the fact?

Mine? She destroyed the reapers. She survived. Eventually got reunited with Kaidan and the rest of the crew and just lived her life in peace on some beach world where no one would bother her.

(I’d like to clarify I know BioWare died long before today and that it’s surprising they lasted as long as they did and that truly it was no longer the same studio. A sheep in wolf clothing if you will. But it’s still the end of a pretty influential studio. It’s thanks to them that we got a lot of the rpgs that have come since BioWare was created)

My femshep, killed the reapers and went off with her gf Jack and messed about in the citadel arena before the wedding. The two of them continued to get into trouble throughout the galaxy. The crew of the Normandy would continue to hang out in Shepard’s apartment and have parties whenever they could. Their lives finally (mostly) at peace.

The only kind she ever wanted. She deserved it.

My male shep destroyed the reapers and he survived it. He would be found in the rubble on earth by the Normandy crew where after getting patched up he'd move to Rannoch with Tali find a way to have a baby and live the rest of their lives. Keelah se'lai

Mine survived after destroying the reapers and then resumed a rather covert relationship with a certain turian Primarch.

Didn’t see that coming but I love it!

My femshep destroyed the reapers and was found by her bondmate Liara. After a long and hard recovery, she and Liara eventually moved to Thessia and, in time, had their own blueberries, all the while Shepard and the crew continued to protect the galaxy. And slowly, things returned to normal. I'm sure more things happened and some other crazy threats reared their ugly head but ultimately, Shepard and Liara lived a long and happy life together and led the galaxy into the future.

To quote another favorite trilogy of mine, they gave everyone tomorrow. They have a tomorrow and maybe one day, we may get to see it...

If we're going based on the very first playthrough many many years ago, my Shep succumbed to indoctrination at the end and the reapers unfortunately continued the cycle

If we are going off my last time, many many years after my first playthrough, my Shep also unfortunately succumbed to indoctrination at the end because I chose destroy and have since decided my head canon is shooting the kid is the only true destroy ending, and the 3 choices presented by the kid are all indoctrination attempts (my Shepard still died on the destroy ending regardless because I refuse to play Citadel DLC pre-ending and don't get enough war assets for the 'perfect ending')

You know what I don’t support the indoctrination theory HOWEVER I vibe with your shepards existence and as such still love your idea.

Also I remember when I first played mass effect 3 I shot the star child and nothing happened so I kept doing it until the update happened where it actually counted as an ending lol

I don't know why I didn't shoot him the last time I played, I forgot you could and had decided I was always going to pick the destroy ending as it's the right one, but since discussing the whole ending with many people on here, it still doesn't make sense to me even with the Extended Cut so, to me, refuse is the true ending and I just have to head canon the rest. That's my solution to poor, rushed writing lol

My Shepard was determined to destroy the reapers for the shit she had to go through. It was time the galaxy got to move on on their own terms and not have robot space squids dictating their life.

The more I comment on my post and interact with people the sadder I get about the news of the end of BioWare…it had to happen but like….mass effect has always been my staple. 4 years ago I got to meet Jennifer Hale and she signed a picture of my custom female shep…a year ago I met Mark Meer and he signed a picture for a default male shep for me. I loved everything about the franchise and I loved BioWare regardless of EA….

Sorry I went on a rant it just doesn’t feel real 😅

In my head cannon version, My MShep found a way to synthesis with the reapers without being destroyed himself, ushered in a new era of peace and prosperity for the galaxy, found a cure for kepral's syndrome, and retired to small mountain town on earth with his now husband, Thane. They regularly hang out with the crew of the Normandy.

My Broshep destroys the Reapers. He spends nine months recovering, during which he is aided by a certain genetically enhanced ex-Cerberus operative, to whom he proposes (and she naturally accepts!). He resigns his Spectre status, and takes a promotion on his return to service with the Alliance, and takes a comfortable administrative job at the Alliance HQ in London (and occasionally does some training for new recruits too), whilst Miranda is hired by the Alliance Intelligence service. Miranda's infertility is treated and they have a daughter before transferring together to the Alliance's branch in Sydney for an even quieter life. They share a lot of their time between Earth and the apartment on the (rebuilt) Citadel, simply enjoying a normal life together.
