DISCUSSION Does anyone think there will be a movement like we saw with Destiny?
Is there still a large enough player base/fan base left to try and push EA to do something with Mass Effect(and Bioware) or has too much time passed form the last game. I kind of think that Destiny still had a large active player base, which created a large and active push back to Bungie and Sony. Mass Effect has a large fan base, but since most are not actively playing Mass Effect will we see as large of a push.

To do what?
The team that made the trilogy is gone and has been for years.

Not only that, the Mass Effect fanbase has shrunk to equal or lower numbers than the DA fanbase, and that IP was dead before Mass Effect. The time for revival for this IP has stalled too much, we don't have the numbers, and we're only going to grow smaller and less relevant. We have no traction, no studio, a publisher that will need to invest hundreds of million on a deprecated IP just to revive it, whereas Destiny was not at its healthiest, but it had a fanbase that came back to support it, is still active, still has a game that you can actually log in and play, we have 2 dead MP games and a remaster of a trilogy that ended kinda as well as Dragon Age ended. We're dead in the water. We have nothing to rally around.

In addition to this Bioware as a brand is effectively dead. There was a time the Bioware name would instantly sell games but decades of mismanagement, anti-consumer practices, bloated budgets, development hell and various game design fumbles have chipped away at what that studio is worth as a brand.

The “what” is not what I was talking about. Make mass effect 4/5 or start with a new story under a new studio. Does not really matter to me. I was asking if the fanbase will try and push like destiny’s player base.

Probably not, due to the insane level of debt EA got slapped with during their buyout they will be looking at making the most money they can through live service games. The best we can hope for is people stop buying their games and more importantly don't pay for any microtransactions to force them to reconsider their priorities.
Unfortunately they also employ an "IP vault" mentality and to my knowledge have never sold a single IP they own...
I wish I had a more positive outlook on this but it is just another studio shuttered because of EA and their somewhat confusing standards

That’s true, but they now have nearly 10x the debt they had just a few months ago. They have never sold their ip’s but if they can’t make the loan payments on time…I wonder if they will change their minds on that rule. But I recognize that there some hopium in that thought process.

No. It is a very different situation. This is a full studio closure not an attempt to pivot dev support from one current live service game to a different live service game.
I feel bad for the employees and the best we can hope for is that they find jobs elsewhere with minimum stress.

I was not looking at the reasons, as both are different. more what the fanbase reaction will do, if anything.

It will do nothing because the situation is completely different.

I was not asking if it will be successful or force EA to do anything, I was asking if people think we will see a push online similar to what we saw with Destiny.

No and i hope it doesn't. The best outcome is either for the IP to enter an indie devs hands, or a spiritual successor or similar size and scope appears.

Can't really compare the 2.
Destiny 2 is an already established money printer that Bungie committed to making more updates for.
Mass Effect 5 is a an unfinished game that wasnt even guaranteed to make a profit (dare i say unlikely) after Biowares recent history of putting out flops.
