I imagine that EA owns the rights to Mass Effect. They could have a 5th game developed by a different studio or outsource it. If they think it would be worth the investment ME5 could definitely happen.

They just might have to totally start over.

Okay well now my dream game is a CDPR made mass effect. The odds are probably .01% but that won't stop me from hoping.

I don't think it's entirely unrealistic for that to happen really. CDPR has been expanding a lot since Cyberpunk released. And because they thrive on narrative RPGs, if EA decides to sell the mass effect IP(they just nuked BioWare, so they clearly have no plans to do anything with it themselves) I wouldn't be surprised if they're the ones who pick it up.

Sadly we have seen in before that EA prefers close studios, keep the rights of the IPs and do nothing with them, like C&C and Americans Mcgee's Alice
