Origin, Bullfrog... EA really is the parasitic wasp to the developer caterpillar.

Westwood (a little more self inflicted but still), Viceral, and Mythic. Honestly Bioware outlived several failures more than most. Mythic got 1 chance. Viceral was making games that sold even if they weren't world beaters and had mostly been critical successes. I wanted a new ME game so bad, but really I am not sure they even should have gotten the chance to announce it.

EAs problem is it needs all the money and they are never ok with smaller budget productions. And seeing how many ips from companies they closed wouldnt make all the money to them closing them is just another day in business.

I am for example thankful to fate that Arenanet that makes guildwars had deal with company who doesnt have such attitude, guildwars makes 100 times less money than lineage and aion yet its still pumping out new expansions. Its because company behind it is fine with lower profits. EA is never fine with lower profits and smaller investments.

Holy shit EA single-handedly killed off all my favourite studios (in the West). BioWare, Maxis, Bullfrog, Origin, and Mythic, those guys made some of the most defining games I ever played.

As a Sims and SimCity fan, it's very difficult to forget what EA did to Maxis.

Spore went extinct long ago.

To this day I still miss pandemic games. From destroy all humans, to mercenaries.

I saw this comic around the same week EA announced their acquisition of BioWare. Was never a question of “if”, but “when”.

Didn’t they also buy and shutdown the guys that made C&C years ago? Another unfortunate ending in the long list of companies that go to EA to die.

That would be Westwood.

Indeed. Thanks, I thought it was them but it’s been a minute since I last played C&C TW3. Seriously, though, if they were still in early development of ME5, then they clearly wasted everyone’s time announcing it early years ago. Maybe it would’ve been a nightmare to play if it were ever released, who knows. Hopefully someone leaks a summary of whatever they were working on.

This comic is OLLLD yet totally called it

I think everyone was calling this shot for the last decade plus though.

EA kills a lot of companies. Yet another reason why I hate companies buying up other companies.

Prophetic 9 year old meme

It finally happened. I hoped it never would from the moment I saw this comic the first time... But it did. 😞

And Origin.

This made me incredibly sad because they bought over Playfish and shut down my childhood games like pet society
