Something must have been very fucking wrong to still be in “early” development six years after the first announcement.

Surely must have been years and years away if they felt comfortable deleting the entire project and studio.

Seemed like the plan was to dedicate all resources to Veilguard, keeping ME5 firmly in the concept stage, so that after Veilguard game out and was a smash hit! they’d be propelled into a quick pre-production before full development for ME5. Instead, Veilguard had middling success at best just as EA was going into a massive buyout, and their teams were gutted as they dedicated what resources they had left to Mass Effect, waiting for the axe to fall(which probably didn’t help results)
