The best we can hope for when this goes through is Bioware getting sold to someone else. These type of deals have ruined every other business they’ve get involved with, being beholden to shareholders is bad enough but private equity groups are even more ruthless than the shareholders of publicly traded companies.

Meh, bioware as a studio is long dead.

The actual best we can hope for is the IPs getting sold to someone else.

And I'm saying that as someone who liked veilguard.

No BioWare is not long dead, just because you don’t like their games Bioware as a studio still exists.

Nah dude, with biowares current reputation and recent sales figures, they’re pretty much dead.

Like sure they’re still twitching, but it is what it is.

The way I personally see this….EA is fucking garbage and everything they own has gone downhill. While I doubt this Saudi investment will change that, at least there’s a slim chance.

There is no chance that Saudi investment will change it, it will get worse. And BioWare still exists regardless of your opinion of the quality of their games.

Again, the famous OG BioWare that made mass effect, baldurs gate, knights of the old republic, dragons age, etc haven’t had a real game in almost a decade (8 years). They’ve changed ownership and lost most of their personnel.

Their two games in last 8 years were bad with horrific sales figures. Even andromeda didn’t receive good marks initially. EA killed them. What’s left is shambling corpse. Only having 2 failed releases in 8 years means they’re dead or at least very near it.

Are you ignoring that they veery successfully released the Legendary Edition? It doesn’t matter what size they are, they are still an open studio working on a game and by definition are not dead.

Remastering an old game is very much different than creating a new one. BioWare took old games and updated them. They haven’t developed a new game worth a shit on release since DAI. Even with that and MEA aging well, they have failed to live up to the reputation they built in the 90s and 2000s, and have been on life support since about 2016.

Remaking 10 year old games is a way to keep the life support going, but you have to develop a new game to actually get off of it, something they have failed to do.

Only one single company owned by EA has managed to deliver on expectations in recent years, respawn. And even survivor had major issues on release.
