Repaint vs replace

I’ve had this Zastava M70 that has a factory “battle worn” cerakote finish for a while now and while I love how it shoots, my opinion has changed on its looks. Should I sell it and get one in regular black, or should I re-cerakote it/just spray paint it?

Send it off to get parkerized or blued. Or if you want to be really showy, gold plated.

I second this. That cerakote looks decent at first glance but kinda shit when you take a good look. Cheap even. I'd get it blued then just try to beat it up organically by being a bit rougher with it. It is an AK after all.

You like how it shoots, why sell and possibly get a different one you don't like? Plus that violates this subs "no sell, only buy" rule and you risk being banned for such an egregious violation, so why risk exile from the oasis that is liberalgunowners? Brownell’s has some great rattle-can paint options. It’s an AK style rifle. It’s meant to work, not be pretty. Double that with the rustic wood furniture.

Zastavas are pretty consistent, but if you you like how this shoots I'd recoat and save the money. Some companies specialize in ceracoates and will do it cheaper.

Honestly spray paint isn't bad. It doesn't diminish the ceracoates protection, and is purely cosmetic. Militaries around the world have done it for decades.

Rifle finish is Western decadence. Blast it all off then just let it get a patina or whatever. Probably helps if you wear a ushanka hat and smoke a cigarette every time you have it shouldered.

Cerakote it. I think if you just spray paint it, it's going to look worse than it does now.
