Wanna make a music app

I've been wanting to make a music player for a while now and trying to decide on the right language for it. My plan in the end is to make my own server like Jellyfin or Navidrome (I don't use those because they don't fit my particular taste and my own pride). But I realize I do first need a working application that runs alone. I'm gonna run these on windows and android and want to try make for both before branching out into Linux and Mac. So yeah. I just need to know what language I need to learn first

EDIT: I already know python if that's helpful

What do you mean by "a music app"? An app for making music? One for streaming music? Like give some more info or it will be difficult to recommend anything

I want to be able to stream my music, not make it

Haha, fair. I know it's a big project, which is why I'm trying to figure out where to start.

You want to make a media library server? Or what do you mean by music app? When I think music app I think of DAWs, samplers, sequencers, trackers etc...

If you want to target all platforms, I think the easiest option is a Node.js + HTML5 app running electron or tauri for the app, tauri executables are very small compared to electron, because it uses the OS' native chromium. Hell why not skip that and just make a PWA (Progressive Web App) ? Instant support for all platforms without extra build steps...

If you know python just go for it. Python is so versatile. I made a little app in flask to edit metadata and had thought to eventually turn it into a player. Look into mpv/mpd(?)

The best language is “Claude” or “Codex” if it will be big and you want to deliver soon.

No. I'd rather build it with my own hands
