Good evening,
I am the original creator of this Subreddit. I have not actively learnt Luxembourgish for quite some time, but kept this Subreddit for the occasional learner who wanted to find some resources here and I still have a minor interest in the language.
I agree with the recent criticism from some users here that there are now an excessive number of threads about the Sproochentest. Whilst I recognise the relevance of this for the learner of Luxembourgish, there is also no need to re-hash the same thread multiple times.
I still make use of Reddit, so I will endeavour to create Megathreads for future Sproochentest results. I can see the next one appears to be January.
For the time being, please do not create any new threads about the Sproochentest. I would suggest updating this one going forward due to it having the most replies, or, head to r/Sproochentest.
If you have any questions, or if you are a more active learner who would like to moderate the sub-reddit, please reach out.
Best,

Moien! This is Kawi.
Kawi is an app for kids aged 3 to 6 whose family doesn't speak Luxembourgish at home, so they recognise the first words of the classroom before starting précoce or Spillschoul. No reading needed: they listen, tap, recognise, and try to say it. The audio follows the official pronunciation of LOD.lu, and parents get translations in French, Portuguese, English and German, so they often end up learning alongside their child.
Before the public release, we'd love this community's eyes and ears:
- Does the vocabulary feel natural for a 4-year-old, or too "dictionary"?
-Anything that sounds off in the pronunciation or spelling?
- Which everyday school words would you add (snack time, coat, toilet, tidy upâŠ)?
If you have an iPhone and want to try it, the beta is open: https://testflight.apple.com/join/1gnqYRf1
More about the project: https://kawi.lu/en/
Merci villmools!

Hi everyone,
A friend and I have been working on OpenSprooch.lu:
We started building it while learning Luxembourgish ourselves. Mostly, whenever we find something that is missing or a bit painful in the learning process, we try to build a small tool for it.
Everything is free and open source.
At the moment we have:
We are not trying to build another Luxembourgish course or replace things like LOD, LLO, teachers, or the existing learning material.
The idea is more to build tools around them that make studying a bit easier and the ecosystem more functional.
We would really like to get feedback from people actually learning the language. If you use any of the tools and something doesn't work well, you think something is missing, or you simply have an idea that would be useful, there is a contact section on the website.
Also, if you teach Luxembourgish, please reach out as well. We are especially interested in understanding what problems teachers have, or what small tools could make teaching or preparing material easier.
We would rather build things based on real problems students and teachers have than just keep adding features we think might be useful.
You can find everything here: https://opensprooch.lu/
And here you can reach us out: https://opensprooch.lu/#contact
The source code is linked there as well.

Today is Dag vun der Lëtzebuerger Sprooch, so this seems like the perfect question:
Whatâs your favorite Luxembourgish word?
A few fun ones:
Kaweechelchen â squirrel
PĂ€iperlek / Pimpampel â butterfly
Gromperekichelcher â potato pancakes
GehaansfĂ©nkelchen â firefly
Mine might be GehaansfĂ©nkelchen just because itâs such a fantastic word for something so tiny.
What would you add to the list?

Hi everyone đ
Iâve completed A2.2 in Luxembourgish and took the Sproochentest in February 2026. I actually felt quite okay with the exam, but unfortunately I didnât pass. I was quite disappointed because I had prepared a lot on my own.
Iâm taking the exam again on December , so I have around 2œ months left to prepare. This time, I feel that I could really benefit from more speaking practice and feedback rather than just studying by myself.
I was thinking about joining a private tutor or a small Sproochentest preparation group, but Iâm not sure what would be most useful.
For those who have taken the Sproochentest more than once, what helped you the most the second time? Did you use a private tutor, a small group, or practise with other learners?
Also, if anyone knows of a good Sproochentest group or speaking practice group where I could join, Iâd really appreciate your recommendations.
Merci villmools! đ

Hello, so I did my sproochentest earlier today. I donât see a 4th document under my exam inscriptions. Does that mean Iâve failed?
A friend said that it is normally uploaded within 3 hours of taking the exam.

I have the choice between an A1 INLL course or a free conversation class at the Maison des citoyens. Unfortunately both classes are at the same time.
I've gone through A1 "SchwÀtzt Dir Lëtzebuergesch?" on my own already and wanted to know if anyone had experience taking classes at the Maison des citoyens.

Hi all
A usual question that comes up here is where to find affordable good quality classes. You should know that INLL is not the only option. The communes and many different asbls offer courses.
From my own experience i followed online courses with commune of walferdange. The instructor was great and the group dynamic was also very beneficial to learning.
Link is here :
https://walfer.lu/service/cours-de-langues/
These are group courses and the available lists are updated each quarter or semester(i think)
Walferdange is not the only commune that provides the courses. You should look up unipop website where there is all the courses provided (this is were i found them initially)
Link : https://www.unipop.lu/formations/langues/
Some courses are online, some are at physical premises.
All in all theres a huge variety and all courses range from 50 euros up to 180 euros (depending on the length of the program)
Happy learning :)
