Immersion Anyone else studying for B1 Czech citizenship exam?
Hi everyone!
i live here for 10 years already. I am working towards doing my B1 citizenship exam. I work full time, and after work i attend Charles university to study czech. However, i genuinely don’t use this language at work, and my friends are all expats.
I was wondering if someone else is working towards the same goal, and maybe perhaps we could connect and have weekend hangout sessions where we speak together in czech and improve our czech language, what do you think? If you are interested feel free to DM me or comment.
Thank you!

I am an expat preparing for B1 Citizenship Exam
I've been living in Prague for 10 years and I'm finally working toward Czech citizenship. I did A2 exam a couple of years ago and I know that B1 will be same in terms of preparing for the exam format rather than just learning the language, and after a while I realized that Duolingo, Babbel, and most other recent Czech-built app out there aren't really built for the CCE format. No speaking correction, no actual exam task types, no way to track which specific mistakes you keep repeating.
I take Czech classes twice a week, but two hours still leaves a lot of gaps. Practicing writing, drilling vocab, doing listening exercises between lessons is hard when you also have work and a life.
I'm a marketer by profession, not a developer, so this started as a side project out of pure frustration to prepare myself for the exam. I built Česky! (cesky.app). It generates daily practice sessions in the official CCE formats (reading, listening, writing, speaking) and tracks every error so the next session focuses on your actual weak spots instead of random drills.
A couple of things it does that I personally find useful:
There's a Themes section where you pick a topic (work, health, housing, etc.) and it gives you the vocab and phrases you'd actually need to speak or write about it in the exam. So when a speaking topic comes up, you already have building blocks to work with instead of blanking.
You can also upload materials your teacher gives you and it'll generate practice exercises based on that content, so what you do in the app connects to what you're studying in class.
It covers A2 prep as well, and the interface is available in 5 languages including English, Ukrainian, Arabic, Vietnamese, and Russian, which covers most of the people I know who are preparing for this exam.
About 24 people have been using the Pro version consistently over the past 3 months and around 50 are on free accounts. It genuinely helps me, but I'm obviously biased because I built it around my own issues with the exam, which may or may not overlap with yours 😅
14-day free trial, no credit card needed: cesky.app
Looking for honest feedback from people actually preparing for A2 or B1, not cheerleading which I get from my friends who are using it😄

Free Czech audiobooks
Can anyone recommend some websites with free audiobooks?
I’ve managed to find audiobooks in Czech on Spotify before but the audiobook I’m looking for right now is Master and Margarita and on Spotify it’s narrated by AI 😐. A google search gave me a radio edition of the book but it feels more like a play and is confusing to follow. I also checked on YouTube but again found AI.
So if anyone can recommend any places to find this audiobook for free I’d really appreciate it.

Immersion Learning Czech? I Make Free Comprehensible Input Videos For Beginners
Hi everyone,
If you’ve been looking for Czech learning resources, you might have come across my YouTube channel, Czech-in. I recently returned from a break and started uploading regularly again, so if you've seen my content before, you can jump right back in where you left off.
For those who aren't familiar, Czech-in (Czech comprehensible input) is a channel dedicated entirely to comprehensible input and provides immersive experience. This means I create videos in Czech and make them understandable for beginners by using simple vocabulary and a lot of visual elements, such as drawings, gestures, and images. The topics are straightforward, ranging from stories and games to day-to-day topics about everyday life.
My newest video is a simple "This or That" game designed specifically for beginner comprehension: here's the link.
If you are studying Czech, checking out the channel and watching the videos is the best way to support the project. If you know people who might be interested in this resource, spreading the word helps a ton, too.
PS. While I sometimes employ AI elements, the core will always remain human.

Grammar Skloňuj now has adjective & pronoun declension exercises!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ahoj všichni,
I'm the creator of Skloňuj — it's a site for practicing declensions that I posted about on this subreddit previously. Since then, over 200k questions have been answered, and it seems like it's been super helpful for a lot of people.
Some of you might remember me mentioning that adjective-noun agreement exercises and pronoun declension would be added soon. I actually added this a long time ago, but have been procrastinating on making this post, so here it finally is! As a side note, we also have some fun Czech cultural names as anonymous leaderboard usernames!
I'm visiting Prague in a few months and have been drilling grammar by focusing on one case on Skloňuj a week. Personally I've found this super helpful (after all, opakování je matka moudrosti!) and hopefully this will be of use to some others here as well.
Coming up next: specific decks targeting tricky points (e.g. going to locations using do / na / k, remembering verbs that pair with specific cases, numbers and which noun to use for 1 / 2-4 / 5+).
I'm thinking of adding imperfective vs perfective verb drills as well since I can never remember the perfective forms of many of the verbs I know, but that would be a lot tricker to implement so would love to hear people's thoughts on this.
Check out sklonuj.com if you haven't already, and let me know what you think or how it can be improved! Always looking for feedback on how to make it more useful!
And as always, Skloňuj will remain free to use.

Jaká byla dnes zkouška B1?
Já se domnívám, že čtení, mluvení a psaní byly podobné jako v nanečisto. U poslechu ale byla slovní zásoba o něco méně známá než v nanečisto.

Private classes
Hello, everybody,
I'm a college student from Spain who's going to apply for a master's degree in Prague next year, my degree is Slavistics, although my Czech teacher is completely useless and negligent. I'm writing this post because after one month of college I've accepted the fact that this man is not suitable for preparing me for the masters (zavazující východoevropská studia) in Univerzita Kárlova and would need some private tutor who could prepare me for the admission exams and reach the needed fluency. If you know anyone from the university in Prague who could eventually help me I'd be infinitely grateful 😊

Is two years enough to learn Czech for medical school?
Hi everyone!
I’m currently a beginner in Czech (A1) and considering spending two years at ÚJOP Charles University to prepare for studying medicine entirely in Czech.
Do you think two years of intensive study would be enough to reach a level where I could comfortably follow medical lectures, understand textbooks, and take exams in Czech?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who’s attended ÚJOP or learned Czech before starting university.

Living in Czechia and starting Czech from zero — what should I focus on first?
Ahoj! I'm living and working in Czechia and I've recently started learning Czech from almost zero.
My biggest problems are pronunciation and understanding spoken Czech. I want to be able to communicate in everyday situations — at work, shops, gym, post office, doctor, etc.
For those who successfully learned Czech, what helped you the most?
Should I focus mainly on grammar, vocabulary, listening, pronunciation, or speaking with Czech people?
I'm especially interested in resources that helped beginners progress toward A2/B1.
edit:-
Thank you everyone for your replies! I really appreciate your advice and support. It means a lot to me as I begin my Czech-learning journey. 🙏❤️
Díky moc! 🙏

Zkouška B1 za 3 dny: co děláte poslední dny?
Ahoj všem, za tři dny mám zkoušku B1. Co teď děláte vy? Opakujete gramatiku, nebo spíš cvičíte mluvení a poslech? Já jsem slabší v poslechu, takže poslouchám české YouTube videa, snažím se jim porozumět a neznámá slova hledám ve slovníku. Jinak zatím nedělám nic jiného! Díky za každý tip.
