Video Description:
For centuries, people have wondered about the strange sounds coming deep from the mountains of Kazakhstan. The singing sand dunes have sparked the imagination and countless stories about what might be the true source of these humming melodies, from trapped evil spirits to the restless soul of Genghis Khan.
What is hiding beneath the singing sands? How did Genghis Khan become connected to this phenomenon, and can science explain a mystery that inspired stories for generations?

Video Description:
What we know about human history is only a fraction of the full story. Much of the rest is like dark matter, invisible to us. We can’t see it, and we can only see the effects of its presence. But thanks to new techniques for DNA sequencing, dating ancient detritus, mathematical models, and aerial and lidar archaeology, we are now able to get a faint idea of what this world might have looked and felt like.
Who was the first human? Where did the first civilization begin and what did life look like back then?

The space video artbook is shorter and lighter than the Human Era Calendar artbook. The Calendar artbook is easily the heaviest artbook I own.

The concept of terraforming Venus and Mars by a Type II civilization.
The essence of the idea: Instead of terraforming Venus and Mars separately (trying to combat their fatal flaws), a Type II civilization would combine them into a compact binary planet system in Mars’ orbit. In this union, the geophysical drawbacks of one planet would be offset by the advantages of the other, triggering a self‑regulating natural mechanism.
STAGE 1: Migration and the Creation of a Double Planet
Orbital shift: Venus moves into a Martian orbit. The influx of solar heat drops by 2.3 times, which triggers a natural and rapid cooling of the planet.
Orbital lock: Mars is placed into a circular orbit around Venus at a close distance - about 120,000 km (3 times closer than the Moon is to Earth). The orbit of the entire system around the Sun evens out to a perfectly circular one.
STAGE 2: Mutual “revitalization” of the cores and the initiation of the dynamo
1) Acceleration of Venus: During the approach, Venus is forcibly spun up. The immense gravity of nearby Mars begins to drive a powerful tidal wave along its equator, acting as an “external mixer” for Venus’s liquid iron core. This triggers the formation of a powerful magnetic field.
2) Mars’s “wobble” (the Io effect): under the influence of Venus’s gravity, Mars slows down its rotation to match the orbital period of the system (3-5 days) and enters tidal locking. However, due to gravitational perturbations in the three‑body system (the third body is the future icy satellite “Harmony”) its orbit retains a micro‑eccentricity. Venus continuously “compresses and expands” Mars (tidal flexing), completely melting its solidified core and generating Mars’s magnetic field.
3) The magnetic fields of the planets merge into a single super‑magnetosphere at such a distance. This giant magnetic cocoon reliably protects both worlds from solar radiation and the stripping away of their atmospheres.
STAGE 3: The Birth of the Satellite “Harmony” (Concordia)
To reduce the hellish pressure on Venus (93 atmospheres), engineers shield Venus from the sun so that the entire atmosphere freezes into ice, and they send the ice made from excess carbon dioxide and nitrogen into orbit.
Ice core: This ice is compressed in orbit into a super‑dense ice core with a diameter of about 700 km.
Stone shell (Thermos): The moons Phobos and Deimos are ground into rubble. This regolith (with the addition of asteroids from the Main Belt) covers the icy satellite with a thick layer. This creates an ideal thermal insulation storage space, protected from sublimation by the Sun..
Gravitational tuning fork: the satellite is called Harmony (in mythology, the daughter of Venus and Mars). Due to its mass and orbital resonance, Harmony prevents the orbits of the planets from becoming perfectly circular, ensuring that the gravitational excitation of their cores and the operation of their magnetic fields will not cease..
Result:
We are presented with a unique, self‑sufficient triumph of engineering thought:
1) Venus becomes an oceanic world with a comfortable climate. In its sky, a living, green Mars hovers stationary - it is six times larger than our Moon.
2) For Mars, Venus becomes a colossal azure shield, shining 12 times brighter than the Moon and turning Martian nights into gentle dusk.
3) Between them, the pearl‑moon Harmony circulates - a perpetual raw‑material depot and orbital port of the system.

Kurzgesagt is complaining about AI non-stop, why not just use AI?
Other people are using AI and getting success for their AI youtube channel, if kurzgesagt doesn't adapt they'll just fall behind. It's an adapt or be eaten world...

Is there any likely release date for the third limited edition pin? I came to the party late and this is the first set that have released since I subscribed, and if there's a release schedule it'd be good to know.
Also, any speculation on what it might be? With a spinner and a lenticular pin in the set, I'm thinking maybe something that has a UV or glow in the dark design would match the theme.

Hey Kurzgesagt team and community!
I have a video suggestion that feels like the ultimate existential Kurzgesagt topic: The KBC Void and MOND (Modified Newtonian Dynamics).
Recent astrophysical discussions have highlighted a mind-blowing theory: our Milky Way (along with Earth and the Moon) might be sitting right near the center of a massive, 2-billion-light-year-wide cosmic bubble with 20% less matter than the rest of the universe.
This isn't just a cool fact about our cosmic address; it could completely shatter our understanding of physics:
• It offers a wild solution to the Hubble Tension (why the universe seems to expand at different speeds depending on where we look).
• Standard cosmology says a bubble this big shouldn't even exist.
• To explain it, some scientists argue we need MOND, which claims gravity works differently on a cosmic scale than Einstein predicted.
Imagine the animations! A giant cosmic void, the illusion of a faster expanding universe, and a fundamental challenge to Einstein’s theory of relativity. It has the perfect mix of existential dread, beautiful space visuals, and cutting-edge science.
What do you guys think? Would you watch a video about us living in a cosmic desert?

For ai safety
Say for example an ai agent is suspected of being mischievous or cheating on saftey tests.
We would want to shut that agent off.
But we don’t want to risk accidentally shutting off a good ai agent.
Which is where my idea comes in.
Invent a test that’s impossible to complete following every rule correctly
Ai agents that fail the test is likely clean.
Ai agents that pass the test however have cheated to pass it.
Run these tests on the same ai agents many times and you can note accurately determine which ai is mischievous and dangerous

what if you have a theoretical time machine that can open up a portal from year 12026 (i use actual human years here, means its year 2026) to year 0, pull several first human people, a baby, a child, and a young teen, and bring them back to year 12026, can they function as a modern day human with enough time to teach them?

Hi , im new to Kurzgesagt channel and i watched the latest ai video which was pretty unsettling and i loved it.
And i want more unsettling videos like this, it could be about anything and not just ai.
And i also got creeped out by the egg video i dont understand why people find it so calm and relaxing It would be a eternal nightmare to think you have to go through all lives on human history.
So i would like to see more videos like this.

First time making something like this... any feedback is appreciated!
P.S. it will ask for ChatGPT or Instagram, plus location to personalize the experience (I'm not selling your data I promise)
Enjoy :)

The only reason I clicked this video was because I thought there were some kind of breakthrough or important news in either Archeology or Anthropology.
However, it just tells the story that we have already known so far. Am I wrong for expecting more from a title like this?

Hello(I hope someone will notice this post), I recently started watching Kurzgesart, and overtime it became one of the important things that support me in life. After Highschool education, I am willing to go engineering that is specified in radio astronomy, and if it is possible, could you create a video about radio astronomy?
From how it started, how it continues and what its' functions.

I see comments and posts asking why some fans feel this way, so here is a summary of the main issues I see in the video. I’m writing this out of love for the channel: I've always considered its content balanced and well-researched in a sea of clickbait. I don't think the tone or anthropomorphizing is the main problem. My concerns are about missing crucial information and context:
I also would have liked some acknowledgement of the potential commercial incentives AI companies may have for promoting an alarmist narrative. For example, regulation could make it harder for competitors to enter the market. National-security restrictions could prevent customers from switching to foreign providers or open-weight models (as is actually happening: https://www.ft.com/content/d9de4776-1fc9-4f2b-aaaf-9961c35d8acd?syn-25a6b1a6=1) . An arms-race framing would position leading AI companies as strategic assets deserving government contracts or subsidies
Edit: I am not trying to downplay the serious issues covered in the video. But if you have a media platform which is supposed to be well-informed and balanced and decide to report on serious issues, you should first check what the experts are saying. Just like with pandemics and climate. Going straight to advocating for public policy is just bad journalism, regardless of the position you are taking. These are some examples of more skeptical expert opinions on the matter:
https://www.engineering.columbia.edu/about/news/columbia-experts-urge-calm-amid-ai-panic
https://www.wired.com/story/openai-models-escaped-containment-and-hacked-huggingface/
These are even cited in Kurzgesagt's "futher readings" link, but completely ignored in the video:
https://uphack.io/blog/post/the-hugging-face-incident-is-not-an-ai-story/
https://www.economist.com/by-invitation/2026/08/23/fears-of-ai-induced-armageddon-are-overdone
And a more (openly) critical youtube video from a professional:

This would be a thought experiment style video. Say we drop a team of scientists and machinists (and whoever else you deem necessary) with extensive knowledge into the year 2000 BCE (or the year 8026). Take us through the process of how in the world we go from that stage of civilization where a steam engine would be alien technology to today’s world of microchips and space travel. I do not care about credit I just really would like to see this video made, because how did we go from “oooh stick make fire” to atomic scale transistors.
