Discussion Best Mail app?
Hello,
I’ve been a Samsung user for over a decade and recently switched to iPhone. So far it’s been a learning experience and trying my best to like it.
One thing to be desired is the mail app. The default Samsung mail was pretty good, but the default iphone mail app leaves a lot to be desired. The gmail and yahoo apps are ok~ but not great and the sponsored ads disguised as emails is really off putting. Does anyone have any good email app recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

Thru the years I have tried all sorts of them Outlook, Spark AirMail, Blue, Nine, Edison etc - I keep coming back to Stock Email App

Same here the stock email app is the best one it's the most integrated into the OS for obvious reasons.

I have gone from the default app to others and always go back to default apple mail app, the annoying thing for me is when i see messages, delete them, it still shows the badge for a couple of minutes, other than that, its pretty good.

I prefer the default Apple mail app over Outlook, I use Outlook on my computer all the time, just not a fan of the app.

I use the gmail app. Coming from Android, it works fine.

It’s the best of the lot, but it’s ofter been glitchy about email deletion in iOS 27. Nothing major, but annoying.

The default mail app is great unless you are keeping an eye on 5 different Gmail accounts for work and can’t afford the up to 15 minute delay in receiving emails from those accounts. Because of that specifically, I use the Gmail app. If all I used was an iCloud account, the default app would be perfect.

Any chance you could share even one feature that it lacks?
Not really sure how to help you if we have no idea what it “leaves a lot to be desired” means in terms of functionality.

I use iOS mail app as my daily and proton mail as my secondary. It works pretty well, no ads.

Funny thing, ever since I switched to Samsung a year ago I am still looking for a Apple mail alternative. I feel like all android mail apps are just missing something

Straight up one of the reasons I went back to an iPhone. No matter which mail app I tried, I just couldn't find one that I really liked as much as the default Apple Mail app.

One of the main things that got me to come back to an iPhone was the custom cloudflare domain integration for Apple mail. I absolutely could not for any reason get it to let me send as an alias through gmail no matter what I did when I went to a Samsung.

My only issue with Apple mail is that blocked senders still show in my phone inbox. Not on my computer. They have 🚫but I still have to manually move to junk. Anybody else?

I use Outlook now because it's the standard at work, but when I retire in a couple of years I'll go back to Mail.

Outlook is my preference. If you’re used to using it at work or even have a Hotmail account, it’s a very natural interface. Like you, I find the default Mail app just too barebones. Outlook works with just about every mail service so it’s a good choice.

I use default mail app for calendar integration plus spam blocking (manual blocks)

A non paying app. I never understood why you have to have a subscription or even a paid mail app.

On one of the iOS updates Apple mail screwed me over by deciding to send a huge number of newsletters to junk. So now I use Apple for important stuff and Gmail for newsletters.

I have been on apple mail for decades … I like the simplicity, if you have heavy user of mails then I would prefer other apps

I like Outlook better than Mail, but I have a paid MS Office family account so ymmv.

The stock email client has been the best since iOS 26. No complaints.

I cannot stand having a 3rd party mail app that combines my emails.
I just use the stock application for each email account, so Gmail, outlook, yahoo, etc.

Apple castrate any 3rd party app so much that there's never really any advantage over Apple's app if it doesn't suck beyond measure. The default mail app is OK and therefore the best on iOS.

I’ve tried quite a few throughout the years and they always kept landing back at Gmail.
I hate how Apple mail doesn’t have to send a logos if they would fix that I would probably fully move to Apple mail.

I use Outlook. It works really well for using multiple accounts on multiple domains.

I tried using the stock Mail app, but I was getting delayed notifications for no rhyme or reason. This wasn’t a Gmail address either not supporting push notifications. It was my Outlook account which supports push most places.
I’ve been using Outlook for close to 10 years, and it’s usually just fine.

Spark is amazing cause it automatically categorizes ur emails into notifications, newsletters, and personal emails which then you can just check off and it archives them in once click, taking you to inbox zero, which for me is super satisfying and helps me to never miss an email. They aren’t deleted, just put away from in front of you

Check out Epistles iOS app. It's new. I've been using it for a few months and it's fine for my needs.

I’m quite used to the iOS app but am toying with the idea of using another client for all my email accounts. I have a Zoho account and can recommend having a Zoho email which you’d need in order to set up email accounts from other providers. Https://www.zoho.com

Use a few over the years and I always end up going back to Apples mail.
So in recent years Ive stopped bothering and just use mail.
