I know everyone is commenting about the broken healthcare system for people while this dog got VIP treatment. But I think most of us wouldn’t want less for this dog—we just want affordable access too.

No one is mad the dog got treated for it's injuries. We're mad that humans aren't given the same respect.

u/realdjjmc 19h ago

This^ specifically the way police treat human injuries that they cause.

I’m in agreement with you.

Jesus! has to be corporate America, where a human's worth is measured in how productive they are! What the f happened to you, America? Where is the humanity?

-2

u/octavian343 19h ago

Ok then how are you measuring someone’s worth?

7

u/Good-Cartographer-98 19h ago

Why should we measure someone's worth in the first place?

u/Seayarn 17h ago

I served my country (the United States) while working on the front lines in healthcare during the pandemic. The pandemic caused my autoimmune diseases to spiral, which caused catastrophic damage to my health. Now I'm disabled. So, according to you, I am no longer productive and no longer of worth?

I commend you for your service, society is lucky to have people like you and I'm really sorry your health took a turn for the worse all the while you were in service of others. Once again thank you. I totally think that, irrespective of what you can produce, society needs to be there for you and all of it's citizens.

2

u/Seayarn 12h ago

Thank you. We all have something to provide. Even if it's "just" a reason for an essential worker to start their shift every day because they love their family. One's worth doesn't need to be decided by all of society, it may be small or large. The Butterfly Effect 🦋 is a perfect fit here.

Because nothing in life is free????

5

u/Good-Cartographer-98 19h ago

What a weird conversation we're having man! Lets say you have 2 children, one automatically will be more productive than the other. Would it be good parenting if you spread the love according to productivity? Love is time consuming, time is money, nothing is free right? Wtf man? It's effing America, the country that at each and every opportunity likes to remind the other 194 countries in the world that it's the richest most powerful one, in history!

-1

u/octavian343 14h ago

Ok but you’re not my child. Why would you have any intrinsic value to me?

1

u/Good-Cartographer-98 13h ago

Citizens are a society's children, are they not? Why would such a basic thing as healthcare be directly proportional to output or productivity? I just can't get my head around it. Might be a naive European mindset talking here but basic services should be offered to all, especially if a country is the wealthiest the world has ever seen.

This is it. I want all living things to have access to the care they need.

11

u/MetalHead_Literally 19h ago

Eh call me heartless, but a chopper for a dog with broken legs is fucking absurd.

2

u/OvertlyCanadian 12h ago

It's fucking crazy lol

•

u/SurroundQuirky8613 10h ago

They already have choppers for traffic details. They didn’t get a life flight for the dog. They would just put the dog in a patrol car and run lights and siren to the designated vet otherwise.

7

u/Z-22 23h ago

If it comes to caring for a sick human being versus a dog… call me heartless, but I’m going to favor the person (and let the downvotes begin 😮‍💨

13

u/bendover912 1d ago

I want less for this dog. No dog should be getting a life flight helicopter ride, ever, full stop. Insane costs aside, what if an actual human emergency were to happen while that helicopter was taking a dog to an emergency vet that for some crazy reason has a helipad. Imagine telling a family their loved one died because they were in line behind a police dog for the helicopter and had to wait.

2

u/spicypossum99 23h ago

Government trained animals that maul people on command should never be revered imho

7

u/InternalAd1397 23h ago

That's a Labrador dumbass. Literally one of the friendliest breeds on the planet. Did you read the captions? He's a bomb sniffing dog. The only thing a Lab will maul is a tennis ball.

-1

u/InternalAd1397 23h ago

Going to shock you but there's more than one helicopter in the world.

6

u/MetalHead_Literally 19h ago

Most communities absolutely do not have an unlimited resource of life flight choppers

2

u/quicklywest 23h ago

This. But also, I really do want the best for dogs whose job it is to sniff out bombs and narcotics. They keep people alive.

2

u/TryPlenty4914 23h ago

until they dont because a human needed that helicopter at a nearby location and had to die bc a dog got special treatment.

6

u/SurroundQuirky8613 23h ago edited 10h ago

The dog has good medical care from tax dollars, which is Medicare for all that everyone deserves. We do owe those dogs the medical care, though because they are forced into labor.

5

u/Remarkable-Answer426 21h ago

Wouldn't a dog rather have a purpose than lay around a house all day with nothing to excite them? I don't think they're complaining generally.

•

u/SurroundQuirky8613 10h ago

They can’t complain. And most dogs would rather nap on a couch than get stabbed, if we could ask.

-3

u/fuzynutznut 1d ago

Fuck that cop dog.

5

u/Prestigious-Peace232 1d ago

Its a fucking dog dude. It didn't choose to work for cops. It is unfortunate that the police employ dogs tho

-3

u/TopMarionberry1149 23h ago

It’s literally a dumb animal who cares. The fuel costs alone could have saved an African child or two.

0

u/strawbsrgood 23h ago

Lol do you know how corrupt Africa is? Even if the US tried (and they literally provide more humanitarian aid to Africa than the rest of the world combined) most of that aid is not going to the poor and those that need it.

-2

u/Whatwhenwherehi 1d ago

Universal would exponentially cheaper yet we choose to murder citizens. And yes it's murder if every place including Mexico can do universal

Every doctor, every nurse, everyone in the medical field is complicit too.

2

u/Siaten 23h ago

I'm in the medical field and have been for almost 15 years. I have yet to meet a doctor or nurse who doesn't think healthcare is broken and almost all of them were pro Medicare for All.

The problem in the industry is health insurance companies. Period. They are the cancer here.

2

u/acemonvw 21h ago

I am related to one such doctor that is definitely not pro-universal healthcare. “Just look at Canada.”

2

u/Siaten 20h ago

Oh, those kinds definitely exist and I'm sorry you have to weather that ignorance.

My point was just that in my anecdotal experience, most Healthcare professionals are keenly aware of how broken privatization is.

•

u/acemonvw 10h ago

Yeah - I get it. It's depressing when I find myself hearing any of that crap... and there's no point in arguing with them, so I just sit and hope for the moment to say "I'll be going now."

-6

u/Whatwhenwherehi 23h ago

Yet you perpetuate it And allow for it... murderers

3

u/Siaten 20h ago

My job is literally to make sure insurance does what they are supposed to. I fight with them every day to make sure patients get as much coverage as possible.

I promise you, healthcare professionals are on your side here.

3

u/Straight-Research-17 22h ago

How much control do you think an individual nurse has over the entire healthcare system? Like seriously, this is an insane take. And if these ‘murderers’ (as you call them) chose to down tools and abandon the sector, how many deaths do you think would result from the country having no medical professionals…?

0

u/particular_parrot 21h ago

Agree. Additionally, I'm generally hesitant to give the cops any credit, but they way they rallied for this guy made me smile. I know most dog parents would do the same, but anybody caring so deeply about our four legged bretheren makes me smile, at least a little. Glad bubs is okay.

-1

u/Chucklum 23h ago

You want what the dog has but dint want it take a way from the dog. Makes sense.

-6

u/Spaduf 23h ago

An em dash huh?

6

u/tv1577 22h ago

No. Just the same hyphen I have used in informal writing for the last 40 years. Hyphens existed before AI ya know!

-5

u/Spoog_McDuck 23h ago

I was hoping someone else noticed lmao. People can’t even write a sentence anymore
