I just wanted to share a positive experience I had with Rail Madad because I feel like good experiences deserve to be talked about too.
My train was supposed to depart at 1 PM, but it ended up leaving around 7 PM. I had planned the journey as a day journey, so I hadn't really thought about the possibility of travelling overnight. I'd booked 3AC, and when I got into my coach, I realised that I was surrounded by men. As a woman travelling solo, I couldn't see another woman around me in that section, and honestly, I started feeling really scared and uncomfortable.
My first thought was to approach the TC, but I had no idea when they would come around. So I opened the Rail Madad portal, explained my concern, and submitted a complaint.
I'm genuinely not even kidding when I say that I received a call within two minutes. They acknowledged my concern and told me that they would send a TC and asked me to wait for a little while.
Around 10 minutes later, the TC arrived. He asked me what the issue was, listened to me, and helped me move to a more comfortable location where there were other women around me.
The entire thing was sorted within 15–20 minutes of me raising the complaint.
I was honestly so relieved and grateful. What had started as a genuinely scary situation became much more manageable because someone responded quickly and actually helped. I was able to sleep peacefully that night without constantly feeling anxious about my surroundings.
I know we often hear complaints about Indian Railways, and there are plenty of things that need improvement, but I also think it's important to acknowledge when a system works the way it's supposed to.
That quick response made a real difference to my experience as a solo female traveller.
Just sharing this in case someone else ever finds themselves in a similar situation. Don't hesitate to raise a concern through Rail Madad. In my case, they responded incredibly quickly, and I'm genuinely thankful for that.
