Politics BJP office asked me suspicious questions.

Hello peeps, I wanted to share a little experience I had a year ago.
I had just turned 18 and wanted to get myself a Pancard, So one of my friends suggested me I could get it done at the local BJP office. At the moment I didn't think much of it as it was pretty cheap compared to getting it done from an agent.
Few days later I went to the branch , it was a smooth process I gave them my documents and the required data and the lady (looked to me like a trainee) uploaded it on the Protean database.

After the due process was completed, She asked me a completely unrelated question

"Do you have a voter card?", I replied "No, I do not"

She looked at the (presumably) senior officer who was sitting across her and had some sort of eye contact.

This wasn't the thing which surprised me too! It was only after she started typing something on her computer without even asking me any details this time. I knew something suspicious was brewing up so I asked her if the process was complete, Did the payment and left the office.

Still feels kinda uncanny, ngl. Is this how they manipulate the voter lists? What if I had a voter card?

I think about that sometimes before sleeping.

Politics Is "vote chori" actually proven or just political noise? I went through the voter list data

Spent the last few weeks reading through the ECI voter list stuff and all the vote chori claims. Wanted to see what's actually backed by data and what isn't.

What I was trying to figure out:

why were names removed and what does ECI say about it

does the opposition's claim actually line up with the numbers

where is the gap between the claim and the proof

Honestly some of the data was incomplete, so I'm not gonna pretend I have a clean answer on everything.

What I'm curious about: is names getting removed from the list enough to call it chori? Or do you need proof that real voters were deleted on purpose? Has anyone here actually seen this happen in their own area, like a family member's name missing or the revision going smoothly?

All i know is my friend dad name is missing from voters list .

If I got something wrong, tell me, with a source if you can.

Education Unpopular Opinion: The IIT admission system is brutal, nonsense. Holistic admissions are objectively better.

I need to vent, and I honestly don't care if I get downvoted for this.

The way IIT admissions work is absolute nonsense. Students are forced to sacrifice mental health, teenage years, and any semblance of a normal life just to master a hyper-specific, brutal, multi-stage exam system (JEE Main -> JEE Advanced). If you have a bad day, get a panic attack, or miss a rank by a few decimal points, your entire dream is crushed.

What makes it worse is that IIT admissions care absolutely zero about who you are as a person. No extracurriculars. No motivation letters. No portfolio. No holistic review. You could be a brilliant coder with an amazing GitHub portfolio, a national-level athlete, or someone with incredible leadership skills—but if you don't score a 75% in PCM boards and crack a 360-mark trick-question exam, the JoSAA software just discards you.

Look at top global universities like Oxbridge, Stanford, or Ivy Leagues. They look at the whole student. They review your essays, letters of recommendation, projects, and community impact. They understand that a human being is more than a standardized test score. And guess what? They are incredibly successful, producing world-changing innovators, founders, and researchers every single year.

The IIT system doesn't select the best engineers; it selects the NERDS. It’s a brutal, automated assembly line that filters people based on rote memory and extreme speed solving. It's time we admit that the lack of a holistic approach is holding Indian higher education back and destroying a generation's mental health in the process.

EDIT: before any nerd rages, I am an Oxford student btw.

Business/Finance The Kotak 811 "5% Super Cashback" is a scam wrapped in fine print. Don't fall for it!

Just wanted to share a massive frustration and warn anyone using or planning to get the Kotak 811 Super Savings Account for its flashy "5% cashback on every payment" advertising.

I recently bought a Samsung S25 FE on Flipkart for ₹53,000. Knowing the monthly cashback cap is ₹500, I fully expected to get my ₹500 back. Instead, I was only rewarded a pathetic ₹100

When I dug into it, I found out why: Kotak has a hidden per-transaction cap of just ₹100!

No matter if you spend ₹2,000 or ₹50,000 in a single swipe, you will never get more than ₹100 for that transaction. To even get the full ₹500 monthly cap, you are forced to split your spending into 5 separate transactions of ₹2,000 across the month.

On top of that, you have to remember to manually claim it in the app of the next month, or it expires completely. This is absolute peak marketing designed to trick customers making big purchases. Stick to actual cashback cards if you want transparent rewards!

Edit: Lesson learned, I definitely should have checked the fine print first and will be much more careful in the future! Keeping this thread up so other everyday shoppers are aware of this hidden ₹100 per-transaction cap before making a big purchase.Thanx guys

Crime Was I scammed or is it for a good cause?

This incident happened when I was having chai at my local vendor near office. Two guys approached me. They were very soft-spoken. When I told them that I'm Marwari, the other guy also started speaking Marwari to me. Then they said that they were working for a local langar and the other guy started doing a magic trick on me. He handed me a folded paper and then he asked what was my favorite flower of mine and ask me to choose a number.

I thought of rose and number 7. When he asked me to open the folded paper, it was exactly number 7 and rose. They were also chanting a lot of religious things and then asked me to donate some money for hungry and poor. And as I took out my phone they got offended, saying that they are not beggars.

They showed me some pictures of buying rice bags and then asked me to donate money in the form of rice bags. Then they converted the amount in rice bags. I donated about 5k.

When coming back from the office, I was thinking about this. It felt so weird and I was genuinely very happy that I had donated to the right cause. But so many scams happen these days in India. Not sure if it was a scam or if I actually paid for a good cause.

Politics Did Hardeep Singh Puri know of the Fun in Epstein Island?

In December 2014, Puri wrote to Epstein asking him to let him know when he returned from his “exotic island”, adding that he wanted to visit for a conversation and to give him books to “excite an interest in India”. In a subsequent message, Puri wrote, “Indeed, telepathy. Give me a shout when you are back. And, have fun. Not that you require encouragement from others for that.”

Source: https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2011/EFTA02599582.pdf

More emails between the two: https://jmail.world/search?q=hardeep

When other politicians the world over have resigned, why is the Modi government protecting Puri. Is the Modi goverment itself compromised?

People How many of you have experienced similar situations?

Me: "Street Fighter was a good movie. Vidyut was quite good too, there were some cringe stuff like Lord Shiva moves and yoga poses and stereotypical Indian music in background though."

Colleague: "If you hate yoga and Indian music so much, why don't you leave India? Go to other countries and see how people treat you there."

Me: "I wasn't criticising yoga and Indian music. You can feel free to disagree with me on things I find cringe worthy."

Colleague: "If you are living in India, you must respect the culture here or get out of the country."

Me: .....

This was such a strange experience today. If every person starts behaving like that, dictatorship will thrive in this country...

Really, never thought I would meet people who get triggered so easily.
