This is not a review post, but a call-out post. As someone who regularly reviews audio gear, I recently reached out to Douk Audio to discuss a standard review collaboration, as they have just officially launched on Amazon India.
As you can see in the first two attached emails, the company rep mentioned my metrics didn't quite meet their standard sample-shipping criteria, which is completely fine and understandable. However, they immediately followed up with an "alternative arrangement" and reading the further print on that pissed me off real bad.
They floated the offer that I buy the product directly on Amazon and promised a full refund via PayPal, specifically on the condition that I publish a full review and leave a guaranteed 5-star rating to help them "reduce Amazon advertising costs" which absolutely does not make sense to me in any way, shape or form.
I have formally declined the offer, and you can read my exact reply in the third screenshot. This is a blatant violation of Amazon’s Terms of Service and classic astroturfing.
I would rather stop reviewing altogether than agree to deal with brands practicing such methods. The credibility as reviewers relies entirely on transparency and unbiased, honest evaluations and being accomplices in purchase-and-refund schemes for guaranteed ratings completely undermines the trust in this community, where reviewers entirely are considered with extreme skepticism, but all things said and done, I refuse to compromise my editorial integrity for this. I have been dropped by brands for being a bit too curt in my opinions, but that doesn’t matter to me, because I still am supported by my local audio communities and drooping down to such practices would be a cruel insult to their faith and support in me.
I wanted to put this out there as a warning to the community. If you see a sudden influx of glowing 5-star reviews for Douk Audio/Nobsound products on Amazon India (or Amazon global or any other retailers), please take them with a massive grain of salt. It is incredibly disappointing to see brands resort to buying ratings instead of letting the audio equipment speak for itself, and then belittle reviewers who might not be able to afford the products directly, but still try to help the brands and the community at such by being better providers and better purchasers.

One of the moments where everything just comes together and everything sounds awesome on the setup. I don’t even need to bump up the volume.

Hi all. I wishlisted this combo back in the day because of its features and great reviews, then bought it on a good deal and started reading up... which of course scared the fuck out of me. Should I return it? Roll the dice? The problem wasn't the failure of the device because warranties exist, but the prospect of it burning my headphones.
It's a week away from pretty much every day use for at least 8-10h. I use them to output to my speakers, so I'm always using this DAC whether it's through the RCA out or the XLR out to my Arya headphones. I've used 3.5mm a few times only, and 4.4mm never.
So far it has performed wonderfully. No shut-offs. No scares. Nothing but an electronic device doing its job.
Just figured someone will find themselves overthinking their purchase and will be glad to hear a positive experience with it.

As the title indicates, I am writing an honest review of these wireless headphones for the members of my favorite subreddit
I believe reviews should always be honest since they reveal all the demerits and merits of a product rather than just glazing over all the good things about a product.
This might be a long review, but i have tried my best to keep it elaborate and honest
Price and Market Positioning
Firstly, the price, These headphones aren't a gigantic upgrade for the price when compared with the Focal Bathys Og
I personally believe that Focal made a mistake in naming and designing this product identical to the Bathys Og, as the Bathys Mg competes in an entirely different absolute top audiophile wireless market, which includes the T+A Solitaire T, Dali io12, and Mark Levinson 5909. ( The Bathys Mg is the most affordable option in that category )
[ And for anyone who is reading this review, but is looking for an affordable wireless headphone and places audio quality above everything else, Do not waste your time testing every other wireless headphones, instead test only the HDB 630 and the Focal Bathys Og, then choose the one you prefer ]
Looks, Comfort & Cons
Secondly, in regards to Focal Bathys Mg, let me speak about what I dislike about the headphones, they do look good, but not really on a head. They just look dorky and are bulky sideways, so anyone who is buying this luxury headphones should understand that they aren't very suitable for outdoor use cases. So for those people, Bowers and Wilkins PX8 or Px8s2 should be the way to go as those are the most beautiful looking headphones in the world right now, but they are not the best in Sound.
Another fact i dislike about the Bathys Mg, is that the new earpads are softer and more plush than the Og's, which causes my earlobes to slightly touch the inside mesh if I don't perfectly adjust the headband length. But the plush earpads might help for people who wear glasses. My sweet spot was fully extended minus two clicks, which prevented that problem, but it was never an issue with the originals.
Sound Quality
Now, aside from these negatives, Mg sounds better than Og, and they sound absolutely heavenly and endgame. The timbre or the realism of music, instruments, and vocals were so outstanding and perfect. It even sounds a bit closer to a wired open back headphone. The bass and treble was so much perfected that nothing is over the top.
In other words, its like Everything is optimized like how a Master Chef does his Signature Dish or something..if you know what i mean..
I also have to say, these headphones also perform outstandingly musical across all music genres, even outperforming my favorite Sennheiser HD800s
Regarding the Soundstage, the Bathys Mg provides a more accurate representation of the original recording, whereas the HD800s tend to exaggerate the soundstage beyond what is actually present. I believe HD800s owners will understand exactly what I mean.
As an owner of the Sennheiser flagship HD800s, Bathys Mg did sound a tiny bit veiled out of the box, but that was completely fixed with the Sound Personalization feature in the app with its intensity set to 30 percent, as more intensity causes the heavenly timbre to go down, which makes music a bit metallic sounding. However, this may not be a problem for others because, as everyone knows, the HD800s sound pretty revealing and airy
One important thing i did find is, the Focal Bathys Mg sound even better with proper Imaging, Instrument Separation and Soundstage when used with the Dynamic Profile + Sound Personalization. Another lovely feature of these headphones is that they do not require any significant EQ adjustments, they are as good as it gets. Some might think Sound Personalization is an EQ, but it's actually a non linear system, unlike EQ, which is a hearing test baked into the Focal App by a Berlin based company named Mimi Hearing Technologies
Another good aspect to consider is that Bathys Mg features large and spacious earcups designed to accommodate any ear size, its one of my favorite quality that is missing in many other wireless headphones currently on the market. It also helps a lot in decreasing the ear heat buildup while using for extended listening sessions. I believe there is no point in sound quality if you cant wear it for a considerable amount of time
Why i needed a Wireless Option
The reason I wanted an endgame wireless headphones is that my HD 800s always needed a DAC/Amp to drive them. While I love my HD 800s, it is quite frustrating to always have to connect my Mojo 2 or any other DAC/Amp to them and then to my phone just to listen to music, which prevents me from walking around or even dancing a little while I listen to audio
( Also, my Mojo 2 has to be charged for 8 hours and it gives me like 8 hours of playback, so HD800s has become a wired headphone with battery, and no, I can't fit my phone and Mojo 2 with wire in between in a pocket comfortably )
So that's where my Focal Bathys Mg come in... it gives me 30 hours of audio bliss with just 1 hour of charging + nobody is disturbed or could hear whatever I am playing. HD 800s is definitely maybe the most comfortable headphone in the world, but it doesn't matter if you have to be always stationary while hearing audio
-----------------------------------------
Now this short portion, where everything written inside this column is not from my personal testing or review.
When compared to the T+A Solitaire T, Dali io12, and Mark Levinson 5909, the Solitaire T has a slight edge in sound quality, but its earcups are too small and uncomfortable. As for the Dali io12, it offers a more spacious presentation but lacks the bass, impact, and exceptional timbre found in the Bathys Mg, it also looks even worse on the head coz its such a differently shaped headphone
Watching reviews from channels like Secrets of Home Theater, RecordingNow and Dexpix etc can provide further insight, as the Focal Bathys Mg does fall short in certain areas compared to its competitors, but it remains the king in sound quality, due to having fewer overall weaknesses.
--------------------------------------------
And back to my review again,
App, Features and ANC
Talking about the Focal app, it's alright and gets the job done. There is a free radio feature with different stations, and I kind of liked it because I don't think this feature is widely available for other headphones. Another good thing i have to mention is, Dynamic Mode, Sound Personalization and everything is saved into the headphones, so you never need to install the App again for any other device. Once set, you can basically uninstall the app itself if needed ( also people who loves to EQ, all that stays saved in the Headphones with the Focal App )
As for ANC, it's alright, not groundbreaking or anything. I always like the Soft setting available in the app, I do wish there was a noise cancellation off feature. The headphones don't have any touch feature, which is better, and have hardware buttons for pretty much everything like volume controls, play and pause, noise cancellation modes, and digital assistant.
I hope this review helps everyone who is an audio enthusiast like me

I compared four headphone amplifiers.
For three of them, the DIY Dynalo, Apos Gremlin, and SparkoS Gemini, I connected a Topping D50 III via XLR and RCA, with the Gremlin linked through the Dynalo bypass.
For the Audalytic HP 70, I used an Astell and Kern SR35 connected 3.5 mm to XLR.
I played the same two tracks, Summerland by Lunatic Soul and Hiraeth by Caspian, streamed from Tidal through a Lyrion server.
The differences are subtle.
The Audalytic HP70 is Class A with stock operational amplifiers.
The SparkoS features a stock discrete operational amplifier and an Electro Harmonix 6922 tube, running on high bias gain and low output gain.
The Apos Gremlin uses two standard Rays 6922 tubes and is also Class A.
The DIY Dynalo is a Class A solid state unit.
Everything sounds great. I used Audeze MM-100 headphones and switched to the 4.4 mm balanced output on all units. The tracks started with a slight offset so I could jump between the exact same section back to back.
The SparkoS Gemini sounded the smoothest.
The Apos Gremlin sounded very similar to the Audalytic HP70.
The SparkoS Gemini sounded closest to the Dynalo.
The main differences showed up with the SparkoS, which sounded softer as if the transients were slightly rounded off.
I would have been completely happy with any of them, but if I had to choose just one, it would be the SparkoS Gemini. But it costs about ten times more than the Gremlin.
The HP70 and Gremlin sound a tiny bit brighter than the Dynalo and SparkoS Gemini, which is honestly the only major difference.
Of course, these differences could be due to imperfect volume matching since I only matched by ear. Source differences, listening fatigue, and other variables also play a part. Doing a blind test would be necessary to eliminate bias, and I might do that soon.
The main takeaway is that you do not need an expensive headphone amplifier to be happy. As long as it has the power you need and the right inputs and outputs for your setup, it is more than enough. That said, I definitely preferred the smoother tone of the Gemini overall.

I had bought and returned the Sennheiser 560s awhile back which was a shame because I loved them but the headband was just way too tight for me, especially the padding on the top part would leave a red painful spot on my scalp. My skin is extremely sensitive and I noticed the sundara don't have the thick paddng on the top part of the band. Are they more comfortable than the 560s? Comfortable in general? I'm looking at them specifically because I want open back headphones under 300CAD

Just got these a few days ago, but all I can say is WOW. Everything sound amazing with these headphones, regardless of if a track is well recorded or poorly recorded, or the genre. These are like having a a 4K OLED TV where all the colors pop like nothing else. I have to say, these are the ultimate headphones for music lovers.
Technicallities are still great, though I think fall slightly behind other summit-fi headlines in some areas (mainly detail retrieval). But as a headphone that makes anything sound great? Nothing comes close to touching it imo, other than maybe the Empyrean 2. Let me know if you have any questions! Comfort is also amazing, though I found the Elite to be a bit more comfortable due to the lighter weight.
Edit: Okay since I got a ton of requests for this. Here is a quick rundown of how these compare to other Meze headphones (and TOTLs) I've had a chance to listen to.
Elite - The Arta is heavier than the Elite by around 60 grams, and you feel it. The Arta is still comfortable to listen to, but you can definitely feel the difference compared to the Elite (which was a headphone I could keep on my head for hours without issue). In terms of sound, the Arta sounds very similar to the Elite with the hybrid pads from my recollection, just everything is turned up in terms of performance. It's basically as if you took the Elite and made it go super saiyan or something lol. The Elite is a bit more laid back (not as punchy) and I find the vocals on the Arta to be slightly more forward. I'd also say soundstage wise, the Elite I think is a bit wider, but the Arta has more depth and height.
Empyrean 2 - So this one is interesting as I've only listened to these for a couple of hours, but the biggest difference imo is the resolution and the treble. I think the bass impact is around equal, but the sub-bass/bass detail is much better on the Arta. I will say though that I find the Empyrean 2 duo ads more comfortable than the hybrids for the Arta due to how thick they are combined with the weight. Also, the timbre is much better on the Arta. The Empyrean is still amazing, but the Arta is much more refined.
Poet - I didn't like this headphone at all. The upper treble is way too sizzly for my liking, which makes any high frequency based sounds (like cymbals, etc), sound artificial and distracting. Now, the mid range warmth is actually similar, but the bass isn't as dynamic/detailed, and the treble is like butter compared to it. Now, if you EQ the poet and tame that upper treble, it's actually not that far off the tonality of the Arta, but much less technical.
LCD-5 - This headphone for one isn't nearly as comfortable as the Arta. Way too clampy for my liking. Now, in terms of sound, the LCD-5 is mixed like studio monitors, so there is a ton of upper midrange energy, and the bass is very tame. I'd say resolution wise, they're about equal, but the Arta has better bass performance if you don't add EQ. Soundstage is also much wider and engulfing, though the LCD-5 has fantastic depth. With EQ, the LCD-5 can slam harder than the Arta, but you'll need an aggressive bass shelf to get that effect.
Caldera Open - I think out of the TOTLs, this one is closest to capturing the magic of the Arta (only behind the Elite imo). These are much more intimate and bit more dynamic (but not by much). I'd say they're both pretty equal in bass, though the Caldera is a bit more visceral and detailed in that department vs the Arta which has more of sub-woofer effect. I'd say the Caldera is also more honest in terms of it's presentation vs the Arta, though it still features that ZMF timbre magic/coloration their dynamics are known for. The biggest negative for the Caldera though is the weight and the clamp. It's a headphone I don't think you can listen to for long periods without feeling discomfort unless the Arta which you can keep on your head without issue.

It is possible I do not perceive the difference /change that much? Have not tried to A/B them now, but plan to. I bought the 560s for being neutral and linear as possible with for what they are praised a lot and hoped for greater sound with more details. I am not bass head, for me its fine when I feel them great and sub bass on 560s are cool and tight i think. Maybe on Nanos are bit more too much uneededly. On the other hand I can be a treble head and I love when I feel some sizling in vocals (like Marilyn Manson) or detailed cymbals (like Mgla or Kriegsmachine). I do not know if it is placebo due reviews I have seen who gave Nanos mids bit critique for mids, or real effect. Using Fiio KA17 in desktop mode with low gain and volume about 30/60 is enough for me. I expected bit more wow effect from Nanos (i hear more texture and some details), but maybe cannot appreciate them just now... Maybe its due a bit lower comfort on top of the head, tho I find earcups and headpones overall good, I expected much worse from reviews, foam top on 560s is just superior tho. Thanks for opinions or tips for PEQ adjustement that made your Nanos shine. I tried flat/bypass and what AI found me this to make it closer to 560s but maybe its wrong approach.
70 Hz -2.5 dB, 0,71 q
220 Hz -1.5 dB, 1,00 q
1200 Hz +2.0 dB, 1,40 q
3000 Hz +3.5 dB, 1,80 q
5500 Hz -3.0 dB, 3,5 q
8500 Hz -4.5 dB, 4,0 q
11000 Hz -2.0, dB, 0,71 q
Maybe I am deaf from all the concerts or just had unreal expectations or maybe Nanos need some burn in time for ideal performance? THANKS.

I’ve been looking for a while… finally found something decent. Will need some glue to adapt them, but really easy to do and well worth it.
Amazon: https://a.co/d/00O4CqJY
The originals come off easily as they have plastic clips. You’ll have to tear off the old ear pads and keep the hard plastic support piece that you will glue to the inside of the news pads and then glue the plastic piece with the clips to the outer part of the back of the ear pads. It makes sense once you take it apart.

UPDATE 2: TOPPING DX5 II. Two faulty units, a promised refund, and now a dispute over who takes the financial risk.
21 October 2026 | Follow-up to my 17 September warranty update
"Original post" (https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/1umaxso/beware_of_the_dx5_ii_44_mm_output_my_experience/)
In September, I reported that TOPPING had finally replaced my defective DX5 II after a prolonged warranty dispute, only for the replacement to exhibit exactly the same 4.4 mm balanced headphone output fault.
Unfortunately, the situation has continued to deteriorate.
I'm now dealing with a refund process involving contradictory commitments from the original AliExpress seller, EG Audio Store, and an unresolved disagreement over international return shipping, insurance and financial responsibility.
Nearly a month after receiving the defective replacement, I still have no working 4.4 mm output and no confirmed refund arrangement that I consider safe to proceed with.
What happened after my September update?
Following further escalation, TOPPING acknowledged the unusual circumstances of receiving two units exhibiting the same fault.
TOPPING initially described the recurrence as very rare and requested further video evidence and the return of the replacement for factory inspection.
Having already provided extensive troubleshooting evidence during the original warranty process, I questioned the need to repeat the same demonstrations yet again.
TOPPING subsequently offered a refund and, importantly, indicated that this could be arranged before the factory inspection results were confirmed.
Given everything that had happened, this seemed like a reasonable conclusion.
TOPPING also confirmed in writing that the refund was authorised by the manufacturer, that EG Audio Store would assist with the original AliExpress transaction, and that TOPPING would remain involved until the matter was resolved.
Unfortunately, the arrangements that followed have been anything but straightforward.
The seller's refund conditions keep changing
Frank Wu at EG Audio Store initially confirmed that the refund would be initiated on the same day that the return tracking showed the DX5 II had been handed over to the courier and was in transit.
That was a significant assurance because the DX5 II is the central DAC in my desktop audio system.
However, when I requested a prepaid, fully insured international return label or courier collection, EG Audio Store refused.
Instead, I was instructed to arrange the return to China myself, pay the shipping costs upfront, arrange insurance at my own expense and accept responsibility for any loss or damage during transit.
The seller also stated that shipping costs would only be reimbursed after the unit had been received and inspected.
Then the refund conditions changed.
I was informed that the refund itself would only be processed after the unit had arrived, been inspected and the refund amount confirmed.
This directly contradicted the earlier commitment to initiate the refund once the parcel was in transit.
When I challenged that change, Frank subsequently reversed his position and stated that EG Audio Store would honour the original refund-on-dispatch arrangement.
However, the other conditions remained unchanged.
No prepaid return label. No arranged collection. No seller-provided insurance. No acceptance of responsibility for transit loss or damage.
So the seller is willing to promise a refund upon dispatch, but is unwilling to assume the financial risk associated with the return shipment.
After the previous AliExpress dispute was closed in the seller's favour, and following months of warranty correspondence, I simply do not have enough confidence in EG Audio Store to accept those conditions.
Why should the customer carry all the risk?
To put this into perspective, I have already:
- Purchased a DX5 II that developed a hardware fault.
- Extensively troubleshot the original unit and supplied video evidence.
- Gone through an unsuccessful AliExpress dispute.
- Declined an offer to replace the motherboard myself.
- Complied with TOPPING's instruction to physically mark the original unit before replacement.
- Received a manufacturer-supplied replacement exhibiting effectively the same fault.
- Continued corresponding with TOPPING and EG Audio Store to obtain a resolution.
Now, despite all of that, I'm being asked to send the second defective unit internationally at my own expense, with no financial protection from the seller if something goes wrong in transit.
I have made it clear that I am not refusing to return the DX5 II.
I am refusing to accept an arrangement where the financial consequences of a lost or damaged return shipment fall entirely on me.
I've now asked TOPPING management to guarantee the refund directly
On 14 October, I formally escalated the situation and requested a direct written commitment from TOPPING management.
I have asked for confirmation of the full refund amount, the original refund-on-dispatch arrangement, prepaid and insured return shipping, and who will be financially responsible if the shipment is lost or damaged.
I have also requested a complete written return procedure.
This includes confirmation of exactly which photographs are required, what packaging is acceptable, what evidence of dispatch must be provided and whether any accessories or documentation are expected.
That might sound excessive, but after months of contradictory instructions, I want no ambiguity about the conditions of the return.
I do not want to dispatch the unit only to discover that an additional photograph, document or administrative requirement is suddenly being used to delay or dispute the refund.
I've also asked TOPPING to confirm what happens if EG Audio Store or AliExpress cannot process the agreed refund.
TOPPING previously stated that it would coordinate an alternative solution if difficulties arose. I'm now asking it to stand behind that commitment.
The impact on my audio system
One reason this matters so much is that the DX5 II isn't simply a spare headphone amplifier.
It's the central DAC for my desktop system, feeding my Adam Audio T5V monitors, T10S subwoofer and external headphone amplifiers.
Removing it leaves my desktop audio system without its main source until I can obtain a suitable replacement.
I also use this equipment for music production and audio work.
This is why a clear and reliable refund arrangement is important. I need to know when I can realistically replace the equipment rather than sending it away and waiting indefinitely.
Where things stand as of 21 October
On 16 October, I requested an actionable resolution from TOPPING management within five business days, setting a deadline of Friday, 23 October 2026.
That deadline has not yet passed.
At the time of writing, however, I have not received the direct management guarantee and agreed return arrangements I requested.
The replacement DX5 II remains with me, and the refund remains unresolved.
I have no objection to TOPPING inspecting the defective unit. In fact, I would welcome a proper technical explanation of why two separate units have exhibited the same fault.
But I do object to being expected to accept additional financial risk after an already prolonged and unsuccessful warranty experience.
Final thoughts
When working correctly, the DX5 II is an impressive DAC/amp in terms of features and performance.
That's what makes this situation so disappointing.
My complaint is no longer solely about a defective 4.4 mm headphone output.
It's about how a manufacturer and its authorised sales channel handle a customer who has already received two defective units.
A refund offer is only meaningful if the process for obtaining that refund is clear, consistent and reasonably protected.
At the moment, that is not my experience.
I will update this post again when TOPPING responds or the refund is finally resolved.
I'm also interested to hear whether other DX5 II owners have experienced similar 4.4 mm output failures, or whether anyone has dealt with comparable return and refund difficulties involving TOPPING or EG Audio Store.

SIMGOT EP5: Sound & Tech Stuff
Tech Stuff
• Driver: 50 mm dynamic
• Impedance: 32 Ω
• Sensitivity: 113 dB/Vrms
• Weight: ~300 g
• Frequency Response: 15 Hz–50 kHz
• Cable Connections: Dual 3.5 mm TRS
Sound
Bass: The EP5 has a measured bass emphasis of roughly 5 dB over the midrange. It reaches deep into the sub-bass, giving electronic music, movie soundtracks, and bass-heavy tracks this really heavy, warm, and resolute bass shelf… but more on the whole soundtrack thing a bit further down! I've been sick, so I had extra time this week to deep-dive into my review of SIMGOT's first full-size headphone. Interestingly, the bass response is almost bouncy… I know that's not a normal audiophile term, but trust me when I say it's something you have to experience yourself to understand!
Mids: Remember how I mentioned a new tuning foundation? I hope so, because this is one of those spots where that's important. Mids are a bit interesting. Male vocals are really center stage, not muddy, and with that dynamic bass shelf, that's really impressive… but the female vocals are actually somehow pushed behind the male vocals in a way I've never seen in a single-driver headset before, which is… really interesting.
Treble: The EP5 leans warm, and with that, the treble is generally not super bright… In my opinion, it just naturally avoids ever becoming bright or sibilant. But because of a rather early upper-treble cutoff, if you're a fan of crazy-long, shimmering cymbal decay, well, let's just say you should skip the EP5!
I wouldn't, because I actually find these sexy beasts a fun and enjoyable listen that never cause pain!

I started to get into headphones around the late aughts, and have owned/tested my share of them. I was in my mid-20s when the Sennheiser HD 600 was first released, experienced the hype around it, listened to it at a local Good Guys store (our generation's Best Buy on the West Coast back then), and was blown away by it. At that time, it was priced waaaay out of my budget, as I was a starving artist back then. Never could I have imagined how things would later turn out, or that the HD 600 remains a legendary headphone despite all the advances in technology and market competition.
Anyway, I had previously stopped chasing headphones for about 11 years when I finally settled on the Audeze LCD-2 and HD 650 for my open-backs, the Audio-Technica M50 as my closed-back, the Klipsch X6i as my IEM, and the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ as my wireless IEM, and then sold the rest (including my Stax 007 MK2/SRM-717 system). I'd still read about new releases once in a while, and picked up a few things when I needed them (for utilitarian reasons, like studio tracking sessions, mobile use), but was overall pretty content. At some point, I decided the LCD-2 was too heavy and uncomfortable, so I replaced it with the MrSpeakers Aeon Flow Open (because that's the one Tyll Hertsens retired with), and that was the only big change.
A few months ago, I decided I was no longer happy with what I had and decided to research, and that's how I ended up with the current ones I have. And now I declare this round finished. I don't need/want anything else, and I'm not sure if I'm keeping everything or will be selling some off, but this is going to be it for a while (maybe last me another 10~15 years?)
As you might be able to tell, I prioritize a more balanced frequency response and excellent technical ability, so I can EQ for my own physiology (as I'm a lifelong musician who needs to mix/master his own music, as well as teach music production to students). I EQ/correct everything I listen to--from my studio monitoring system (Klein + Hummel O 300D with Neumann KH805 subwoofer, using IK Multimedia's ARC Studio) to all my headphones. I'm a firm believer that it's the smartest way to achieve the ideal sound for your own physiology, as you cannot expect "one-size-fits-all" designs from any company to match your individual hearing idiosyncrasies. Even your ear canal shape will mean the canal resonance is at a different frequency compared to whatever measuring system the company used during R&D, not to mention your other HRTF measurements, or how your hearing has degraded as you age.
What's interesting about EQing headphones is that once you make them all as neutral-sounding as possible, you can REALLY hear the differences in their technical performance way more clearly, because you aren't being misled by the colored frequency response each headphone has. That is one of the reasons why, despite EQing my headphones, I'd still want to keep multiples of them. I need to hear how a track I'm working on would sound on a pair of headphones with excellent ability to separate the smack of the beater from the kick pedal on the drum, from the body of the thud, and from the bass guitar or synth bass. But I also need to hear how another pair without such technical ability will blend those sounds together, and then adjust my mix so those sounds can be more distinct even on headphones with lesser technical ability.
Anyway, that's it for me, for now.

So I’ve been playing with the absolutely gorgeous FiiO K17 R2R for the past couple days. I have Meze Liric IIs and they’ve never sounded better. I have a pretty varied range of music that I listen to and this has enough power to drive the Lirics to sound absolutely ethereal, even compared to my M33 which is a beast in its own right. Love this sucker, lol. I’d love to hear yalls thoughts on it

Over the last few years, I’ve bought so many headphones and IEMs. It started with the 560S and Aria IEM.
Slowly my collection grew Sennheiser, Meze, HiFiMan, Audio Technica. I sold a few here and there but still have a collection. Schiit, I even got DACs, amps, and tubes.
But nowadays, I spend most of my time in the two cheapest headphones I own and a $9 Apple dongle.
It’s been my Porta Pro and ER2XR that brings me the most enjoyment. I just listen to the music. Do they image or layer like my Audio Technica? Hell no. Are they a warm hug like my 650? Not quite. But nevertheless, I find myself simply loving the music again.
I have failed. I’ll never reach the summit.

Haven't bought a new, high end pair of headphones for quite a long time now. Been wanting to go wireless for a while and saw that Sennheiser had released these and MAN do they just sound fantastic. The first time in a long time where I've sat and listened to music just appreciating how good it sounds. Been especially impressed with how great the bass is on these and just how clear they are. Very very different than my HD700's, but so fun!

Right now I have an astro mixamp pro tr. The feature in referring to is hard to explain. Basically I can hear myself talking. Not an echo or anything negative. Just something I can tell how loud in speaking. Like it picks up my voice really well. If I plug headset straight into 3.5mm port to the controller it goes away. Any help is much appreciated. I'm currently looking for a pair that includes this feature and can be used both on Xbox and PC.

I've just listened to HD620s and compared on many tracks I like with Sigva Oriole, Fiio FT1 Pro, Truthear Hexa, all with Fiio K7 and Spotify lossless.
And HD620 sounds a bit less surrounding, like the sound comes more from in front of me than from all sides, the immersion is different, worse, when I change headphones immediatelly and have clear comparison. Is it normal for this model? or Sennheiser in particular ?
In fact I just realised that Sigva Oriole is more expensive (by 25eur only)
(I tested it on some electronica and instrumental like: Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Vollenweider, Jean-Michele Jarre, but also recent EDM: Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms (ALPHA 9 Remix), L.S.G - Unreleased Album - part 8, Plaid - Dancers)
