Feel free to tear this demo apart, I'm going for a Postal vibe where the game laughs at itself for being so bad.

Whether you liked it or not, I really appreciate anyone taking the time to view this. All criticism is accepted!

discussion Godot and 3D

I've only really used Godot for 2d games but I really want to get into 3D but I'm really not sure how far I can go when it comes to making a 3D game. Need some games that are ambitious to really see what Godot in 3D.

Oh Juan, forgive my sins! I can finally understand the pain of running a game engine distribution now, and I only recently reached a mere 12k downloads for my Godot fork ... I think Godot proper must be well into the double digit millions by now.

Mad props and respect to the folx who keep Godot running as fantastically as it does.

(this hungry, hungry pupper costs me to the tune of 600 USD in build costs this month)

looking for team (unpaid) Looking to join the project for XP

Maybe that's a bit weird question but does anyone need some sort of assistance with his godot project?

I'd like to try some game dev but I just don't have enough experience nor perseverance to pull out something meaningful on my own so I offer my labour on something that already works (at least partially).

You keep your project, right to freely use created assets in current and future projects, future royalties, whatever. Not here for the money (not yet, at least).

I'm interested in learning 3d project (virtually any state of completion). My interest in learning specifically: general coding, modeling physics, shaders, simple 3d modelling.

I have basic skills in Godot and Blender and extensive background in IT Engineering/System administration, some previous experience programming in Pascal, C#, PowerShell (the actual programming, with brain, I mean).

I can dedicate 8-10 hours a week, since still have bills to pay.

selfpromo (games) How I get a pixel art tileset and level into Godot as a TileMap with collision. How do you handle sl

I'm the dev of Evelopment Games Designer (EGD), a free planning app. One part of it is a level editor that exports straight to Godot 4, and I wanted to share the flow.

  1. Draw the tileset in the pixel art editor, or import one.
  2. Paint the level on a square or isometric grid. Mark the tiles that block movement, like walls and fences, and block single cells by hand where you need to.
  3. Export: you pick your Godot project folder and it saves a .tscn under egd/levels/ with a TileMap, the tileset pictures and the collision. Blocking tiles get a full-tile collision shape, and cells you blocked by hand become a StaticBody2D.

Right now collision is full squares only. For those of you with slopes or half tiles, do you draw custom polygons in the TileSet editor, or handle it some other way?

selfpromo (games) Reworking the Dungeon Generation in my ARPG

Video

Hello everyone! I'm No Skill Games and i'm currently solo developing an Action RPG - Gate, and as the public demo date gets closer i decided to rework one of the most flawed parts of my game, which was the dungeon generator.

I previously used a Physics based approach and while it was very useful at the time for testing, it was boring looking, difficult to customize and ultimately caused levels to become way too similar. I decided to put together a video explaining a bit about what im doing and i thought it was a good idea to share it, since i always struggled with finding help regarding random generation (thats why my first approach was so messy).

  • If you wanna know more about the generator you can ask me here, on discord or on Twitch when im live.
  • If you find Gate interesting, please consider wishlisting it: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4867150/Gate/
  • If you are interested in playtesting Gate on Steam too, you can join the discord server and ask for a key (thought they are limited).
  • Public demo is planned for late november (probably in the downtime between Path of Exile 1 & 2 releases).

Thank you for watching/reading and i hope it was useful/entertaining to you!

previously the animations would break and leave ghost tiles around if the player moved in a quick succession. the gridded tile is supposed to break when the player turns on it.

with the new system, the animations are instantly finished if the player moves while the animations are still playing so the player can move as fast as they want!

We're back! New Episode of our Godot 4 RPG Tutorial Series!

After a longer break, we're finally back with a new update!

In this episode, we're taking the first steps toward building a complex enemy AI with 9 different states.

  • Set up the first enemy AI states
  • Create transitions between states based on animation frames
  • Build the foundation for more advanced enemy behavior

What's covered in the full RPG tutorial series?

We're building a complete 2D pixel-art RPG in Godot 4, step by step, covering:

  • World building, TileMaps & scene transitions
  • Player movement, animations & combat
  • Enemy AI, state machines & attack patterns
  • Health, experience & character stats
  • Leveling, progression & abilities
  • Inventory, equipment & crafting
  • UI, menus & save/load systems
  • NPCs, dialogue & quests (coming later)

The goal is to help beginners understand not just how individual mechanics work, but how to connect them into a complete, playable game.

You'll also find free assets and project files on itch.io, plus our Godot Essentials for 2D Games series for deeper explanations of individual systems.

More enemy AI mechanics are coming in the next episodes!

Watch the full Tutorial Series: youtube.com/playlist

Free assets & project files: pixiesgamedev.itch.io/

Godot Essentials for 2D Games: youtube.com/playlist

What RPG mechanics would you like to learn next? Let me know!

Solo dev here. You start in a garage with a used GPU: train your model, launch products, hire, set your price

(Free to Luxury), take investor money (they take a cut of your profit) and survive crises that come from your own

choices. A rival CEO calls to gloat until you pass him. 7 eras, from the garage to the stars.

Free demo (first three eras): https://timothystudios.itch.io/ai-race-tycoon

I'd love tycoon fans' honest take on the economy and pacing.

selfpromo (games) I’m making a space factory game in Godot. What do you think of the trailer?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I’m the developer behind Beyond the Cradle, a space factory and automation game made in Godot.

You build factories on small planets, automate production chains, and connect your worlds through rocket logistics.

There’s still a huge amount of work ahead, but I really believe in this project. I’m determined to turn it into a great game that’s genuinely fun to play, and hearing what people think is an important part of getting there.

I’d love your honest first impressions of the trailer. Does it make you curious to play? Is it clear what the game is about?

If you’d like to give it a try, there’s a free demo on Steam. Feedback is very welcome, and wishlisting helps a lot too!

Thanks for taking a look! :)
