Hot Take It’s not about “unfair” when it’s pure statistics
46
u/NomadDK ✪ Ally ✪ 7h ago
People still saying "not all men" are fucking idiots. It's always said by losers that somehow feel called out. They should ask themselves why they get defensive like that.
It's also always used to deny or downplay women's lived experiences. Yes, you donkey, we know that it's "not all men", but women have been burnt way too many times to take that chance. The statistics prove that the risk is greater than the reward. In any case, we have a duty to hold other men accountable. Remaining silent is as bad as being the misogynist. We have a collective responsibility to make this world a better place and to earn that trust.
Like the meme says, it weren't all rats carrying the plague, but would you blame anyone for keeping a distance to them? No.

Yup. I was not at all offended that Shane Gillis called women whores. I’m not called out in the least.
But I am disgusted and horrified that “humor” like that was aired live on national television, especially given shit like Epstein, Cornell 7, the general prevalence of violence against girls and women.
And men DO NOT understand the difference.

Well, you would still be wrong.
Also, I didn’t even quote the” joke”, so I guess thank you so much for advertising your lack of reading competency. Most people try to hide their illiteracy, but not you!
3
u/MaliceMaleficarum ⋆𓆩♛𓆪⋆ 2h ago
Over reacting and not getting the joke? Imagine then, you’re shooting pool with friends, leaning over and aiming down your shot, and a man comes up behind you, grabs your hips and gives you a couple dry humps. Guys laugh, and when you get upset he says “you assumed the position” with a chuckle from the guys again.
Are you over reacting by getting pissed off? Just not getting the joke? Because you’re just a whore, after all, right?
3
u/starlight_chaser ⋆✴︎Evil Witch✴︎⋆ 2h ago
Would you think it was funny if a woman made a joke about men being embarrassing sexual fodder to take advantage of because of the way they look, at the same time an infamous rape trial was going on about an unconscious man being anally assaulted?
-3
u/nerd_ginger 56m ago
Something like 6% of men account for all sexual crimes. A comparable stat would be women abusing children, I don't walk around going all women are child abusers tho.
If you generals something that isn't a generalization, then your just being sexist.
I was raised right, and most of my peers were, yet we are looked at as the antichrist. Fuck that, I reject the idea you can apply what the minority does to the majority.

Ironically the same racist white feminists that often criticize people for saying not all men were the same white women screaming "not all white women" when they were called out by black and other races of women for dismissing racism and denying they held privilege over black women

So if it is indeed all men then why would any other men care to hold the men accountable when they are equally responsible?
13
u/NomadDK ✪ Ally ✪ 6h ago
Read through your own comment again and reflect for a short minute.
The simple answer: because it's the right thing to do. You don't do the right thing because you want to be rewarded or get gratification.
It also stops being "all men" once we actually hold other men accountable. By sitting and doing nothing, we're a part of the problem. The reason people even say "all men" is because we, collectively, keep allowing it to happen. Some of us try or damnest to help wherever we can, but it never feels like it'll ever be enough. There's always more I could do. Personally I've dealt with sexual harassment issues at my workplace, told other men off when they've made comments, even been in physical fights with creeps that stalked someone. But you don't hear me saying "not all men". You don't act and intervene because you want the right to say so. You do it because you believe in a better future. Intervening doesn't make you good, it makes you neutral. It's the bare minimum. You do it because it's the right thing, and because you empathize with people.
Remember how Trump said he wouldn't be so dedicated to peace because he didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize? Well, you sound like him.
-12
u/Devilswings5 6h ago
I wouldnt and dont do it for the reward or gratification. I do it because its wrong but there is a problem with the "all men" statement that continues to pop up and relates to my comment. The problem with "all men" is that its not all men and demonizing the ones that would and do stand up is harmful to men and women. When you demonize men and label them them what reason do they have to even bother when they are assumed guilty.
8
u/PuzzleheadedSlide904 6h ago
Blah blah blah, you added nothing of value here. Typical man, inserting himself into things he doesn't need to. That's why this group exists, because of leechs like you.
-9
u/Devilswings5 5h ago
While I dont care and will continue to do my part your comment is a example of why some men have given up or dont bother anymore. You cant expect men to stand up when you exclude them from the conversation. Please do better by men so they they have a voice to help women.
5
u/NomadDK ✪ Ally ✪ 5h ago
Ah, yes, blaming the women. A classic. I do 15 reps of those every morning...
Know that I mean this with the best of intentions: try lurking in this sub for a little while. Try just listening. Just read and listen. Either that, or just leave.
If a few blanket terms is enough to make men cease any support, then just maybe their support was just merely performative all along.
-1
u/Devilswings5 5h ago
It popped up on my feed and thats they only reason I stopped by so I probably wont be lurking around. I dont think men will cease supporting women my self included but you are correct the performative ones will.
5
u/PuzzleheadedSlide904 5h ago
No. You've oppressed us women for thousands of years. And you know very well the information is out there. You refusing to talk to your male co workers, friends, family members is not women's problem. That's on you and other men. You refusing to talk to men is the issue, not us women. We've already told you the problems multiple times and you sit there and play completely stupid.
0
u/Devilswings5 4h ago
You dont personally know me so how could you know? I talk with coworkers and friends and have called out or out right cut friends off for their views. I talk with the you get men at the gym all the time and encourage/challange their views on women. Its important to me to help yoing men understand the issues that plague women and why they feel the way they do. I have a problem doing so because im not a woman and need womens perspectives. Its not just we told you the problems those are basic almost surface level issues that get cast aside or label as whiny. We need the deeper conversation and nuances of issues to understand which is what I was hopeful to get when I commented. This is not a men's its its a men/womens issue and we get nowhere when we point fingers or refuse to take responsibility. So far ive had one good comment that has a depth that I will go through to further my understanding and be a better man. I would encourage you to not blame or point but discuss, you might be supprised the impact you yourself can have on men.

Are we not willing to talk to men about it? Seems like a fruitless effort when you ask for us to hold other men accountable but wont talk to us about the whys. I served 8 months in jail with 2 of my friends for assault against another man who had SA one of our friends. Do I fit the "all men" category you all speak of? I want some feed back here because its a blanket term and its use is damaging to both men and women when applied liberally.
9
u/Ajoule_Jolie 6h ago
Why are you spending your time and energy arguing with women online? You can instead just continue doing your part as a man rather than seeking validation online. Yeah it's not "all men" but not all snakes are venomous either but I'm not taking my chances.
The whys? Why wouldn't you want a better world for everyone. A safer world for women. If you actually care about women you wouldn't be here arguing and seeking validation in the first place. Get other men to stop being misogynistic and callout other men for abusing women.
7
u/NomadDK ✪ Ally ✪ 6h ago
And there we have it. The victim.
It's infuriating that you got charged for such things. But nobody asked you to break the law. In my physical altercations with other men, I've been well within the law, because it was in defense of someone. Not vigilante justice or revenge. You can stand up for women without breaking laws, you know.
You probably did it with good intentions, but don't act like someone using a blanket term makes you a victim.
I've also been shot at, been under artillery fire and drone attacks, for the causes I believe in. Yet I don't go telling the Ukrainians that they're not allowed to criticise that the West hasn't supported them enough. Don't take things like that personally. Just know that you've done your best, and will continue to try doing your best. Don't talk like a quitter. Don't talk like Trump does, with his "I wasn't given the Nobel Peace Prize, so now I won't be dedicated to peace".
-2
u/Devilswings5 5h ago
I dont find it Infuriating for standing up for my friend. I take full responsibility for what happened no one asked me to I just did it. Im aware I can stand up for women without breaking the law. Im not taking the victim stance im point out a poverty for other men and how it portrays them. I only brought up my example because it was convenient for the conversation. I dont want rewards or validation out of it because thats not what matters to me. I dont think of myself as one who fits on the all men category nor do I see myself as a victim. The issue i take with this is how it portrays men in general and how that will affect the future of our sons and daughters.

> So if it is indeed all men
Not All Men (misogynistic argument)
> then why would any other men care to hold the men accountable when they are equally responsible?
“It’s women’s fault that men don’t hold each other accountable. Since us guys proudly lack our own moral compass (a fact we like to weaponise) it’s women’s job to motivate men to do the right thing. Women must not offend us with feminist rhetoric, else we’re liable to do the wrong thing 🤷♂️ Not our fault. Women must always walk on eggshells and pray that they’ve successfully coddled us into having ethics and principles. If you keep saying ‘it’s all men,’ we’re going to punish you… by continuing to not hold each other accountable. This is a tone policing tactic where I dangle the threat of continued misogyny to silence women and control how they think and speak.”
> Are we not willing to talk to men about it?
“I want women to talk to men about misogyny because I think women are partly responsible for their own oppression. I want women to educate me about misogyny, tell me what to do, hold my hand, give me reasons to care, “sell me on the idea,” kiss my ass, praise me for “being willing to listen,” bite their tongues when I say ignorant shit, hold back when I blame patriarchy on republicans/elites/capitalism, and if they don’t say talk to me exactly how I want, I’ll just threaten them again that they better shut up or else it’s their fault I don’t want to hold myself and other men accountable. In other words, I just like arguing with women and blaming them for misogyny.”
> wont talk to us about the whys.
“Since I lack morality and truly have no desire to make society less misogynistic, I require women to personally convince me why I should care. If I gave a damn, I’d google the “whys” every single night just like I hunt for new porn every single night. I feel entitled to women’s time and energy, I think they owe it to me to educate and persuade me. I really love milking women for their mental and emotional labour.”
> I served 8 months in jail with 2 of my friends for assault against another man who had SA one of our friends.
Wait, are you the guy who comes on here to brag that he fought a rapist naked in the street?

u/Devilswings5 4h ago
This is what I was looking for thank you for your well spoken comment and insight to help me be a better man. To address the last sentence, it was a convenient personal instance example not a brag. I could care less about the validation and someone in a earlier comment was correct to call me out for my actions to which I take full responsibility.
3
u/PuzzleheadedSlide904 6h ago
Go talk to your fellow men about it, and stop arguing with women you fool. No one wants you here, go hang out with your boring male friends.
2
u/Nova9z 3h ago
thats why it IS all men. becasue the men who DONT physically do the atrocities that men are known for doing en masse, will either protect, defend, ignore, or excuse the actions of the ones that DO. they deny the possability that things could be as bad as they are. the refuse to take womens experiences seriously. they deny the abuses carried out around them. they are weak and pathetic.
there are men who beat their wives half to death once a month and their friends know it but they still hang out at his for drinks. they ignore the sickening thuds coming from the kitchen when she takes too long to bring out some more food. they go home to their own wives who they would never touch and have the audacity to think of themselves as good men. they are not good men. they are evil. as evil as the man beating his wife. that makes them directly part of the problem. so yes it pretty much IS all men becasue the number of men who actively go against the grain is so sickeningly low, the impact is non existant.

A lot of men would rather die and cry misandry than acknowledge the reality of patriarchy and misogyny, how it influences their own navigations through the world, how it affects women, and how it influences their own thoughts and perception of women.
12
u/macmcdonald 𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪Succubus𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪 7h ago
Exactly. And I hate when fellow women say 'patriarchy hurts men too' tbh ? Idgaf. Why do men have to benefit from change ?? Isn't it enough that women are no longer oppressed (spoiler alert:they don't want that lol) like as a white woman I know I have white privilege and I educate myself, and try to be as anti-racist as I can be, it does not have to benefit me, I just think racism is horrible. Somehow most men never act like that.

u/Equivalent-Law5950 6h ago
As a man, I have witnessed this. I can definitively say it is not all men, but most men hold plenty of double standards which I've always found odd. If as a man I would want to do something I cant see myself holding it over my wife's head to do the same or similar. I personally have learned a lot about this dynamic as my wife and I started to explore our sexuality together. I've tried to tell some how weird their perspective is, but sadly the majority doesn't really care. If you allow yourself to indulge in pleasures you wouldn't allow your wife then how much of a husband/partner are you really? I don't understand the female perspective, but I can understand the frustrations having seen how disgusting men can be as somewhat of an inside man lol. Rarely do I meet men that have a similar outlook as I do. The one's I know personally grew up with more of an autonomous learning environment where they were allowed to form their own opinions.

u/Shot-Aioli-8986 Ally ✪ 7h ago
When someone says “not all” you already know that they actually don’t care to discuss, learn, etc whatever excuse they try to use, for the most part, there is rarely any 100 percent absolutes, they’re just being knowingly ignorant. It’s funny how they’ll have generalizations until they use them towards women or other marginalized groups, then suddenly it’s “all”
Men need to care about the actual problems at hand here, more than “generalizations” if the guy hates being painted as “all men” he needs to do as much as he can to go against the culture of misogyny, sexual assault, etc and actually call it out, but a lot don’t do that, so they must not hate being grouped in the “all men” that much, or they’d actually try to do things, to make it no men
Also, for the few men that actually do, just look at how fast they are mocked, and basically shunned from the “boys club” like I’ve said a few times, a lot of these men are more afraid to be called a “snitch”(for calling out problematic behavior) than the actually trying to make a difference, they don’t want to lose membership from the “ boys club” and then they’ll be the same men saying “not all men” when women discuss their experiences and are pissed off, even though they didn’t even “try” to do anything positive

-6
u/EpiphanyClarity Henchman 5h ago
I’m going to get downvoted for this but I think one of the reasons men keep “not all men”ing is because progressive liberals spent the last few decades promoting the idea that you can not judge and profile people based on racial, sexual, ethic, national, ect characteristics.
It’s why you keep seeing people comparing profiling men as predators to Africans as criminals. As in their minds there in an inconsistency and contradiction. To them you don’t actually believe in the ideology of not judging individuals based on the actions of the people who share their immutable characteristics.
The only way I see this contradiction settling is claiming biological determinism and that men are inherently predatory and perverted. But many feminists don’t like that because if men are inherently predatory then that justifies their predation.

The racial correlation between violent crime is a result of black people being overrepresented among the poor and addicts due to socioeconomic factors, as well as overpolicing in black neighbourhoods.
It does not hold in daily life, unlike "prejudice" against men where the stats hold nearly universally with only minor fluctuations no matter your social bubble
But you already knew that

The analogy is comparing the harm caused in both scenarios. Not all rats, but the bubonic plague killed millions. Not all men, but men kill millions. The root of the comparison has more to do with the language itself, the minimizing of the harm. It is calling out the phrase "not all men", not men directly (though it is calling them out indirectly). Is English your first language or no? I hope that made sense

My friends weren't raped on reddit My mom isn't being abused on reddit I wasn't made a victim in reddit.
You might have been traumatized by the content you willingly engage with. My trauma comes from real life. If seeing people being mean online makes you think of war, it's because you are pathetic garbage.
Shutting the fuck up is free and encouraged

good to know given the chance I should double down on hate rather than love due to whatever personal traumas I make have cus that's definitely the point of life. ig it's time to start hating all men for the years of sexual abuse I went through from 1. or maybe I should hate all women for the years of sexual abuse and sexual slavery my mother was sold into by her own mother. choices choices.

With a man you don’t need to test whether he is a misogynist, only how much is misogynist.
