He also suggested walling off the state of Kansas as a huge penal colony, and just throwing all convicts into the mix regardless of what they're convicted of, and just let nature take its course.

It was one state violent felons, one state drug addicts, one state sex maniacs, and one state crazy people.

Lets do this but with politicians instead

I'm sure the people smoking pot are just as bad as the rapists and murderers. /s

u/shadowlev 1d ago

Lol if you knew George Carlin, you'd know he wasn't talking about potheads

1

u/Ok_Philosopher1996 21h ago

It wasn’t a mix. Offenses were separated into four states

He always did hit the nail on the head.

Americans should be protesting in the same way they are in France, Spain, etc. Sans destroying their historic landmarks and small businesses.

raise your fists and march around, just don’t take what you need

I'll jail and bury those committed
And smother the rest in greed

Crawl with me into tomorrow
Or I'll drag you to your grave
I'm deep inside your children
They'll betray you in my name

Americans should be doing a lot of things but they're too busy doing nothing while Trump sets their country on fire.

u/PlatinumMirage 21h ago

Agreed but the 1% has fcked us over by pumping us full of sugar, got us all addicted to doom scrolling, restricting access to education, not adjusting inflation, and putting everyone else against each other by race, gender, and religion that we can’t unite to protest.

1

u/Practical_Yoghurt802 11h ago

The 1% is not forcing you to eat a bunch of sugar and spend all day on your phone

2

u/PlatinumMirage 3h ago

They’re not but they’re making it hard to access healthy food and approving shit that’s allowed into our food that’s banned in other countries. Plus they’re screwing our farmers. Who’s going to grow healthy food? And I ain’t got time to scroll my phone all day but they do make it easy for the next generation to get addicted.

" Americans should be protesting in the same way they are in France, Spain, etc. except without all the defining qualities of the protests in France, Spain, etc."

America got to where it is today since 1890s when industrial Barrons were unchecked.

George was supposed to be funny. Not prescient and right.

People’s very simplistic views of the world weirdly overcomplicates very simple things. There isn’t a grand plan to distract you from things. MAGA is simply a cruel and spiteful movement. There isn’t some secret agenda behind this. They simply have a very perverted view of what justice means.

Heard of Project 2025?

We should be able to recognize the idiots at the helm are not the ones drawing up the plans for autocracy, rather they are the vehicles with a cult of personality to drive the plan home.

Does project 25 mention the importance of distracting voters from becoming class conscious by doing public executions? It’s an extraordinarily silly notion to pretend the only thing in the way of our country turning on the capitalists is these distractions like going to war with Iran and taking away peoples rights.

u/oddTaskJob 22h ago

No because they use an LLM to come up with it

4

u/JohnArtemus 1d ago

Thanks you. I've always said people, and specifically this administration, are not that smart. They're just cruel.

No real human could ever disagree with you, you are a perfect genius.

3

u/juzamjim 1d ago

Well yeah but that’s not George Carlin predicting the future that’s MAGA scanning the past for norms they can destroy

“Let’s use capital punishment the same way we use sports and television in this country, to distract people and take their minds off how bad they’re being fucked by the upper 1 percent,” Carlin said during his 1996 HBO special, “George Carlin: Back in Town.” “Now, unfortunately, ‘Monday Night Football’ doesn’t last long enough. What we really need is year-round capital punishment on TV every night with sponsors! Gotta have sponsors. I’m sure as long as we’re killing people, Marlboro cigarettes and Dow Chemical will be proud to participate.”

If this sounds familiar, then you’ve probably seen a Carlin clip on social media amid the headlines about whether the firing-squad execution of convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan should be live-streamed. After Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said he wanted Hasan’s scheduled Dec. 3 execution in Texas to be live-streamed so that people could “understand that there’s serious consequences for these types of things,” President Donald Trump announced that the execution would not be available for public viewing.

“He takes a premise and takes it to the absolute most absurd version of it, to the point where it’s so absurd that it’s unbelievable or not even possible,” his daughter Kelly Carlin-McCall, a writer and radio personality, says of her father, who died in 2008 at the age of 71. “His level of absurdity in 1996 is what we are living through in reality right now.”

Bring on Prison States and Pay Per View!

u/Agitated_Ad7576 21h ago

I once heard: "If they could, all the networks would televise executions and Fox would air nude executions."

When i saw they were going to do that I first thought of george carlins comedy about the subject. A prophet.

u/bikedork5000 1d ago

Daughter says? He had a whole bit about it in his set in the early 90s. Talked about catapaulting people into brick walls. It wasn't some private musing.

u/reddtoomuch 1d ago

George Carlin was a pretty good stand up comic. Not a philosopher. We can stop citing him, now.

-1

u/Poundaflesh 1d ago

We are so lucky that guy is in a wheelchair!

-1

u/movezig123 22h ago

Public executions were actually a huge part of society maybe most of the world, up until quite recently.

Carlin is very much the stupid person's idea of a smart person

They literally used Carlin's work as a how-to manual
