Support Does anyone else have issues with importing from Keep?

I'm on my new run and I just replayed DAO and DA2. Went to play Inquisition. Everything worked normally. I made a character and started the game. Then when I saw my character in action I didn't like the hair mod I was using (too shiny), so I deleted the character, closed the game and chose a different hair mod. Launched the game again and went to start a new game and it wouldn't let me import my custom world state. It jumped straight to default.

Like what the hell? It worked like 30 minutes ago, I thought.

So, obviously I thought it's a mod/Frosty issue. Nothing worked. Launched from EA App directly. Nope. Exhausted every possible fix including reinstalling the game. Nope. Default World State.

I am supposedly connected to the servers (multiplayer works as well), but it suddenly just refuses to import the Keep choices.

Does anyone else also currently experience this? Is it a server issue? Am I cooked?

They just closed Bioware, so its possible they closed the servers too... :/

I don't know how Bioware ever even thought that one up. Just make it a menu within Inquisition.

I’ve been thinking that ever since 2014. Like even then I was like “What happens when the servers shut down?”

Damn, I really do hope that that's not the case. :(

EA just shutdown Bioware maybe it's related...

Shit, didn't think about that. Damn, should have kept that damn hair and just played on while it worked. In my defense - I really did not expect this to happen.

hopefully modders will jump on making some sort of solution.

There’s a world state save editor up on NexusMods. I’ve used it successfully in the past. But that doesn’t help anyone on console.

I'm on pc so I will try that. Is that is?

Yes, I believe so! It takes some finessing but once you get the hang of it it's relatively simple, and iirc the different save flags are clearly labeled in the editor.

There are mods you can use, if the Keep is gone

There is a rampant issue with PHP across the entire internet right now. It's possible the Dragon Age Keep is affected by this. If it is, let's hope it gets fixed.

I really do hope so and that it's not EA shutting down the servers without warning.

This is genuenly heartbreaking, BioWare manage to make such unique games.

Stories full of deep lore, choice that affected the world in future games, deep and compleling characters and romance.

There's not a single franchise out there that check all those boxes, I'm grieving

Me too. I've been a fan of this franchise since 2009. Was 12 when I first played DAO. Literally grew up on those games. And it shut down on me in the middle of starting a new DAI game. I feel cursed. Like it worked and then BAM - not working.
That being said, I do so so so hope that it's just a server issue and not them just shutting it down without warning. Still, BioWare is no more and damn, it hurts.

I haven’t tried to actually import (yet), but I’m at the tail end of 2 in a series run and the Keep seems to be operating normally from my end. I even hit the export button (there are like two decisions left and I know what I’m going to do) and the Keep seems to think that it exported the worldstate successfully. (I checked this twice.)

Now, there could be issues with importing once the game is loaded up, but from where I stand, I don’t think the Keep is down or malfunctioning…at the moment, anyway. (I’ve had issues with it being weird or unstable before, and I wonder how well it will be maintained now if something does go wonky.)

Yeah, the Keep exports normally, but it doesn't seem to be able to reach DAI. I tried to make a character with a default world state and look up the "current playthrough" on the Keep and it doesn't show up (the character I deleted shows up tho) so there is definitely some issue with the actual Keep-DAI connection.

I have a few old custom characters that I haven’t been able to delete from the Keep for years-I get an odd error message whenever I try. So at least some of that seems…possibly on par with traditional Keep nonsense, from my experience.

I should be (attempting to) start my Inquisition save probably later today or tomorrow. I’m happy to update you then, though I don’t really have the technical knowledge to be able to figure out the details if something does go wrong.

Please do tell me when you get there. I'm curious if it's just a me issue. But honestly, after spending the entire day trying every fix ever suggested, I really do think it's a server issue. Crossing my finger though. I'm gonna use a save game editor myself for my playthrough, because I'm really at a wits end.

Will do, and good luck! I think I’ve heard that that can be wonky too, especially if you try to mess with things after the game has been established. (I’m no expert though.)

Yeah, I've read that too. Hopefully, it's gonna work okay.

Even if it's not related to BioWare shutting down yet, hopefully someone will create a mod that will let you mark the choices in the game.
