We are thrilled to announce the launch of our very own tipping token, called 'Award'! This exciting new feature is designed to celebrate and encourage high-quality posts and contributions within our community.

Why are we introducing 'Award'?

• Community Driven Solution: While Reddit has recently reintroduced its own awards, we felt the need for a more community-centric approach to rewarding good content. 'Award' is our way of directly supporting and acknowledging the valuable contributions from our members.

• Promoting Quality Posting: The 'Award' token will serve as a tangible way to tip and recognize posts that provide exceptional value, insightful information, or simply bring joy to our community. It's a way to show appreciation and motivate more quality content creation.

• Absolutely Free: The best part is that it's completely free! No money is spent, making it easy for everyone to participate and support one another.

How to Earn 'Award' Tokens:

You can earn your tipping balance by creating posts. For every upvote your post receives, you will earn 100 'Award' tokens. Note that you do not earn any balance from commenting.

To make the most out of the 'Award' token, here are the main commands you need to know:

1. !faucet - Use this command to receive your initial allocation of 'Award' tokens.
2. !balance - Check your current balance of 'Award' tokens.
3. !tip - Tip other users' posts with your 'Award' tokens to show your appreciation for their contributions.

Starting today, you can use the 'Award' token to tip posts you find particularly outstanding. Let’s come together and celebrate the best of r/delhi!

A big thank you to the mod team at r/communitycurrency for making this possible.

Please share only verified media. Link sources of media, if possible.

r/delhi is a diverse, multicultural and inclusive space.

Bigots will still be banned at sight. Do not abuse, name call or harass people just because your favorite color is in power now.

Very soon, only verified accounts will be allowed to submit posts and comments in r/delhi. Please get your reddit accounts verified using your email address. It’s a very simple process.

Here is a rundown on why you should verify your account

You may find your email settings here: https://www.reddit.com/settings/emails

Edit: This verification is for Reddit, not just for r/delhi. Moderators will never be able to see your email ids, only Reddit admins can.

We as a community are standing in solidarity with the third-party apps, as many of us have been using reddit through those apps on mobile since many years. We will be making r/delhi private for 48 Hrs from 12th June 2023, which will make the sub inaccessible to all users.

• List of other Participating Subreddits in the protest.

Why are we doing this?

Expectations from Reddit:

• Reddit should consider reducing the price of API calls to ensure the sustainability of third-party apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Narwhal, Bacon Reader, and others.
• It is important for Reddit to improve communication by being more transparent and timely in informing moderators and users about any significant changes that may impact them.
• Reddit should continue to provide access to NSFW subreddit data through the API, allowing moderators to maintain a safe environment for all users.

Conclusion

• Reddit's Management should reconsider the recent API pricing change, finding a compromise that allows third-party app developers to continue contributing to this platform's success.
• A mutually beneficial solution can be reached one that accommodates the needs of both Reddit and third-party developers, enabling them to thrive while assisting Reddit in achieving its goals.
• It is important for Reddit to recognize that its unique strength lies in the diversity of moderators, users, and developers. Many tools and innovations have been created by the community, contributing to a rich and engaging platform experience.

Thank you for understanding and your cooperation will be appreciated.

r/delhi Mod Team

tldr;
For 2 days r/Delhi will go private to show support to r/Save3rdPartyApps, so no food pics, dog and cat pics, sunset/sunrise, weather etc. In these 2 days, take a detox from Reddit, touch some grass, meet your friends, spend time with family, rest and don't use Reddit.

UPDATE: 09 MAY 2025 - Only Link Posts are allowed in r/Delhi for now to reduce the influx of misinformation and viral/unverified videos and text posts. This is a limited time change. Please cooperate. Submit news articles, link posts and youtube videos from verified sources only with appropriate titles. Thanks.

Considering the sensitivity of the situation right now, and the amount of misinformation being spread, all viral news screenshots/news will be removed from r/Delhi unless they are from Indian government or news agencies like PTI or AP or Reuters etc. Stay safe. Jai Hind.

MEMES and Jingoistic posts on ongoing conflict are anyways not allowed.

PS: No removal reason will be given. Stay vigilant. Submit only verified news.

Hello All,

As some of you may have noticed, image and video submissions have been restricted in r/delhi . It’s hopefully a temporary restriction but may sustain long term. This action was taken because of influx of very low-effort image posts on this subreddit of late and moderation burden it entails.

If an Image is essential to your post

Feel free to upload it on IMGBB and share the link in the post.

For all the News Afficionados

Here is how you share news without posting an image of it.

While you are here

A gentle reminder of r/Delhi ’s rules

Repeat offenders will be permanently banned. r/Delhi needs to be a safe space for healthy conversations among all genders.

Example posts include:

• asking someone to be their girlfriend
• posting a thread looking for girlfriend
• talking about their singlehood and desperation in an unrelated thread
• hounding a user across comments or threads or even subreddits
• hounding a user in DMs
• demeaning female gender in general or specifically inside comments or posts
• demeaning their past girlfriends or friends because they left them or didn’t accept their proposals

Simps contaminate the environment and deter good faith users from participating in conversations.

We request you to report such “assholes” generously so that we can get rid of them. Thank you.

We are introducing the "[S]" tag in titles. This tag will serve as an indicator that a post is centered around a serious subject, and we kindly request your cooperation in using it appropriately.

How to Use the [S] Tag

• When creating a post on a serious topic, please include "[S]" anywhere within the title. This tag will help other users recognize the nature of the discussion.
  • Example Title - "[S] My parents have been abusive to my sister. What can I do about it?"
• The [S] tag is reserved for posts that address significant and often sensitive matters. We expect comments in these threads to be serious and respectful in tone.
• Similarly, we expect this tag to be used judiciously. Most conversations in r/Delhi, which are casual in nature, won't require this tag.

Why Use the [S] Tag?

• The [S] tag is a tool to maintain the quality and relevance of serious discussions in r/Delhi.
• It helps create a focused environment where users can have meaningful conversations without distractions.

Off-topic or non-serious comments in [S] marked threads will be removed.

If you have any suggestions, concerns, or questions regarding this new rule, please feel free to ping us here or in modmail.

Prepare for sleepless nights due to music louder than airplane landing, bullets on road breaking rules, general hooliganism, and not to forget unlimited drugs and bhaang plus alcohol and what not in name of being a Shiv Bhakt. Har Har Mahadev.

Edit: Kanwariya not resident of Delhi should be banned from entering the city like trucks are banned. They should use Eastern and Western peripheral highway to party and reach their homes.

Also DP is such a sissy in front of Kanwars.

Hi, some of us in the mod team have been busy with irl stuff, so the team requires new additions. Your role would be mostly focused on moderating posts and comments.

If you are interested, Please send your responses to these to modmail:

1) What timezone do you live in and what hours do you normally reddit? How many hours a week do you normally use reddit? (We need a mod who is active during the night as well)

2) Have you moderated before, if yes then where? What do you like and dislike about moderating? (Prior experience in moderation is not a must but consistency is key)

3) What does r/delhi need to change? How would you improve r/delhi by being on the team?

4) A post goes up and your gut says that it breaks the rules but you’re not sure which rule it breaks. What do you do?

5) What should the role of moderators be? Should moderators “let the upvotes decide”?

6) What do you consider to be a bannable offense?

Please take your time to answer everything. Regards

Finally the sub has reached 100,000 subscribers! It wasn't long ago the subreddit was in shambles with barely any content. We've come a long way since, even though right now we may be amidst some cloud pictures.

Moving on we are planning on more weekly/ monthly threads and activities. Case in point welcoming back u/kittykittyfangfang_, looking forward to more Hidden Gems of Delhi like threads!

A quick update on the stuff added:

• New Discord Server
• New Banner and Logo designs for the new and old reddit. Logo Credits: u/mkczk

Shoutout to u/agued5!
